I got Gino and his brother at Powerful People. Storm at Sun up album came out and I Told everyone. He should have been mega huge. What a voice. This man can sing a love song to his father and it comes out honestly. What male singers can pull that one off?
@@The70s80scollection it was 78 for me I was 5 I'd say Gino and his brother joe plus steely Dan was the first time I actually paid attention to music or felt it I should say, Jack miraculous,Great lake canoe,Hollywood Holiday and poor happy Jimmy were a absolute favorite of mine when I would Ride in my dad's Buick regal
"Love Me Now" is something else. This whole album stands toe-to-toe with the great Stevie Wonder in the melodic & creative use of synths to add texture and depth to the arrangements. Ear candy!
100%, very much, those who get this music fully understand just how great and timeless this is. I keep hoping that one day a high quality release from the original master will happen, not sure if this was one of the original masters destroyed in the universal storage fire some years back, if so it will never happen... unfortunately.
I was 15 when this came out. I had a modest stereo setup..... Pioneer receiver/JVC speakers/Technics turntable.....I remember sitting in my bedroom being totally blown away by the wall of sound......Gino's voice, the keyboards, the ambience of this recording. 15 years old and completely blown away. Such a great time to grow up.
Almost the same for me, I first heard Storm At Sunup in Dec 1975 aged 13, couldn't believe what I was hearing, Gino's vocal range and that wonderful music, I'd never heard anything like it before, pestered my dad to get that album and the Powerful People album at our local record store, at the time we had recently moved back to CapeTown from the UK, and Gino's music was popular and played on the radio. When we moved back to the UK in early 77 Gino was not that well known in Southwest Scoltand and the first time I heard Gino on UK radio was I Just Wanna Stop in 78. For sure magical times!.
Was stunned by GINO VOICE, SOUND, the stereo sound, Arrangrment, the jazz. Wondered how Gino/Joe produced that sound.... Played this ALBUM over and over...🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Only special ears, then and now understood his specialness- master musician, top of my favorite list of music artist, he’s just a little too deep for the average listener- I agree with others he was always under appreciated, should have been more broadly acknowledged for all his talents!!! In my opinion!
@RobertDaniel-q2s 100%, back in 75, there was nothing like this or close, a very special project that would have gotten the attention that mattered for those who could hear it, I remember my dad's musician friends all talking about this amazing music and Gino's even more amazing voice. I was only 13 when I first heard Storm At Sunup, and an evening I'll never forget....Dec 1975.
I first heard this album in late 1975 . Was mesmerized. Gino was perhaps the most underrated performer of 1 he 1970,s . The Music was perhaps too sophisticated for the main stream music at the time . His sound was powerful and sultry . He deserved a lot more attention and fame .
I've posted 22 Gino Vannelli tracks over the years, a mixture of CD and Vinyl, there is a Where Am I Going post, a limited remasted CD from Japan.....ruclips.net/video/eIw42pQsaTI/видео.html

Quality and timeless... and what a talent!!!!......
A&M - Gino - Ear-heaven... WJZZ-Radio-Detroit played this constantly and I still love them for it...
alot of people in the 70s don't know what they missed by not getting into Gino
I remember hearing this for the first time back in late 75 and could not believe such music existed..I was only 13 at the time.

@@melvinwomack3717 I posted some tracks from the powerful people Modi pressing I have, many times better than the CD version..
Totally agree. Sadly my friends and family only know him from "I Just Wanna Stop" I think he was too experimental for some.
I found him in 1974 with People Gotta Move.
My favorite Gino Vannelli song...

Gino forever!!!
Album and his VOICE!!
..🌹🌹🇨🇦🇨🇦
Grew up in Quebec with Ginos music, he was a success but I still think he should have been the male version of Celin Dion all over the world.
Masterpiece ❤
Awesome, great job, and so fantastic 🎉🌿💦💫💢🎆
Saw him in concert in a small venue about 35 years ago and he was remarkable. Talent that doesn’t need any auto tune.
He was young
Excellent Friend👌👌👌 🌹🌹🌹
