The word genius is overused in many areas. With Gino Vanelli it is underused. The complexity of this composition and ginos voice is absolutely breathtaking. How this man did not become an absolute mega star is beyond me. He deserves every accolade for the pure genius that he is
Yes! Brilliant Gino!.....I sometimes see comments about why Gino isn't more well known. I think he's too hip for a lot of the awards given to popular people --- notice I didn't use the word, artist. It's unbelievable that he hasn't won more than the one Grammy, in 1979 for best male pop vocalist.....But, he's done it his way, which was not always easy. People who know what he's about adore him. He's got millions of fans around the world!
An epic tune, so big that it needs a sixty piece orchestra to support it's greatness. We who admire Gino could listen to this tune a million times over and never get tired of it...never.. in addition to the important message within the lyrics. Good always triumphs over evil. Love is unstoppable
Fabulous. What a high it must have been to be in the orchestra, or directly in front of the orchestra, or in the audience, or currently watching this video - LOL. Love it!
Yes. A great guitar solo. But NO ONE will EVER improve on, or even compete with Carlos Rios' ORIGINAL Brother To Brother guitar solo on Gino's Masterpiece "Brother To Brother" album.❤
I believe the young person inside us never leaves. If I close my eyes, I can imagine Gino in that alleyway, in his tee shirt, blue jeans with big hair. The age difference disappears. We , as musicians, could look like that back then, with so many bands, and no real competition if you were great. Not today, sorry to say. I live in a town with one radio station, one grocery store, and no music, and I'm a musician. My favorite song of Gino's is, "Living inside Myself" because I do. BTW, winter here is 8 months out of every year if we are lucky. I know if I even tried to see one of Gino's concertsI in a crowd like this, I would hyperventilate for sure! Our entire city with children is maybe 2000 people. Thank God for iPad! I can watch from afar...lol
I would give a Million $ to have been there for this Song ....I have not spoken to my Bro for 10 years ....This Song means so much to me .....LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO HAVE THINGS UN SAID ...THE TRUMPET PLAYER AT THE VERY END HIT A HIGH Cccccc and 10/10 of the drumming and the solo lead guitar just the fantastic ...The best concert i have ever watched period .....................PS STAN KENTON ....WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD OF THIS SESSION ...
Terribly sorry for your loss. A million thanks for giving us the name of yet another alchemist in this superb musical magic carpet. The name sounds Dutch. Are you Canadians? (just wondering for further credit where credit is due)
People are all ga ga over Swifty and Adele ect .??? Gino is something else. Loves loves the music , appreciates the musicians and audience . Amazing stuff. The world needs to see .
This is without a doubt the best version of Bro to Bro with the backing of a full big band and orchestra with beautiful violins playing have ever heard the drummers are fantastic and the trumpet player at the very end hits a high C I would have given any thing to have been there Live for a one of life time experience. Thank you for posting this great song love it ❤🎵🎷
I saw Gino on his first tour in Atlanta at the Fox Theater in the late 70's. It is still one of the finest live performaces I have ever been to. Thanks for posting this.
I wish music was all like this, not the crappy things we watch on MTV... this is the real meaning of music!! You just play this song to someone that wants to know what is good music!!! SUPERB!!! Thanks for posting!
Some 20 years gone bye and still a reason to listen to the music of yesteryear when delivered by a wonderful vocalist! What about the arrangement too. Will music of this standard ever return?
Well..if you watched this, you just saw an INCREDIBLE live performance--that's just phenomenal all the way around--every aspect. Poorly covered by cameras but what a sound--WHOA
SO TRUE IN REGARDS TO THE CAMERA ANGLES I SOMETIMES WONDER IF THESE CAMERA PEOPLE THEMSELVES GET CAUGHT UP IN THE ELECTRICITY THEIR WITNESSING INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON THE JOB. A SHAME REALLY SINCE IT'S THE ONLY MEMORY ONE WILL EVER HAVE. I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING METROPOLE FOR AWHILE NOW AND THEY ARE JUST OUTSTANDING PERIOD. BUT GINO IS THE MAN!
I've been a Drummer since 10 I have had difficulty finding a bunch of guys to play just killer jams like these. So I play Brother to Brother on the streets where I live in my car. It really attracks attention and I think there is no better. The lead guitar solo is Bazotic, thee wildest ever. Tyranisoris Ty
I saw him first at an Hotel on top on Montreal Place Ville-Marie in a club. He was playing drums then. Then 4 times at the Montreal forum... Great artist, great performance...
Gino Vannelli like so many other great artists that marched to their own drum beat were done in by the Big Label System and it was A&M in Gino’s case. Here’s the mock conversation… “Hmmm Gino, you don’t sound at all like so and so that’s hot right now and so we don’t know what to do with you marketing wise.” Gino refused to conform. I think he has done just fine by staying true to himself.
Man, I miss the trading 1s that Craney and Haslip did on the original. The half-time during that section to me ruins the aggression of the song. But Gino is an ageless wonder for sure.
I feel there was a missed opportunity here to transcript the guitar solo to brass. like zappa did with page's stairway solo. still a great version of this song, different to the rest, but they are all great live. GV is one of the most consistently excellent live performers
A older tour and performance should be watched or listened. Live in Montreal !!!! His birthplace . Canada has produced some crazy crazy talent. Try to find and appreciate .!!!😂😂
I wish I had a cd of this "live" performance so I could hear it on my Boss system and listen to every singel instrument. Gino is indeed a master of his craft. This was another great performance.....oh yes...and more cowbell!
André Rieu seems to rule down under too but is quite different in style ;-) anyway, I agree with you about the best ever with such an orchestra and would have preferred Gino above Andre but having so much pleasure with music is the point, enjoy! Greetings from Amsterdam
What an amazing song, good music is timeless. But they needed a better drummer on this live performance. Originally drummer was insane, this song calls for major drum chops
I have this video ... it is amazing, (as is all of Gino's music). I love the Peter Tiehuis guitar solo ... got to meet him at a clinic once ... awesome guy. Timeless song, by the modern-day Mozart, (yes, his genius is on that level), and an incredible orchestra and arrangement. Gino is my biggest influence by far, and can not be categorized or equalled ... just the most amazing and talented musician/lyricist/engineer/singer/drummer/guitarist/producer/arranger/songwriter/performer alive today.
❤🙏 IF U R A ""FAN"" LIKE ME OF GREAT MUSIC THIS TRACK IN EVERY WAY PERFORM BY *GINO*👏💜 IS 4*STARS HE PUT HIMSELF IN THE HALL OF FAME WITH THIS [* A GENUINE CLASSIC FOR THE AGES *]☻👍🤩
Been listening to this song for 45 years and it seems I just like it more and more and more.

Stunning performance by all, but , oh my, the drummer is on another planet.
Love it!
Fantastic performance. The drummer is so sharp and on his mark, and the electric guitarist really great.
I love the guitar solo on this. And what a fantastic tone.
Great track!
Yes. A great guitar solo. But NO ONE will EVER improve on, or even compete with Carlos Rios' ORIGINAL Brother To Brother guitar solo on Gino's Masterpiece "Brother To Brother" album.❤
guitar player Peter Tiehuis look him up, I saw him live with a 5 piece world music combo in the 80s.
This arrangement is sick!...................so much going on but nobody getting in anyone's way is mind blowing.............
the body of work this man has done cannot be duplicated .musical genius

Quanta verity nelle tue parole.
Ciao
Quanta verità nelle tue parole. Buona fortuna
One of the most magical performances of all-times. The horns, the strings, the percussionist, the soloists...☺☺
Simply brilliant arrangement and orchestra. Special mention to the drummer and electric guitar solo. Really the best version of this song.
When the Musicians and the Conductor are GETTING DOWN with the music, it's GREAT!! LOVE IT!!!
The Conductor is just DOING HIS THING!!! A very happy Conductor!!!
....Yes, I Noticed that, too....!!!.....:)
...Orchestra Kicking it, too....!!!......:)
an absolute masterpiece! Haven't heard an arrangement of this that isn't incredible.
and how the conductor was having fun!
...Agreed....!!!
Truly Amazing arrangement and performance
Spoilt by bad camera / directing. Not one shot of The Drummer !! Who is he, anybody know?
I was there , unforgetable
PUFFF!!! TREMENDOOOOOOO!!!
A song that in itself was alreday fantastic reaches a whole other dimension when beeing performed by a full orchestra.
Talking about brothers. My brother Gerbrand Westveen did all the arrangements for this concert. Sadly he past away this week at the age of 62.
sorry for your lost ! your brother was one of the four arranger ? www.ginov.com/life-is-messy-but-good/
Terribly sorry for your loss. A million thanks for giving us the name of yet another alchemist in this superb musical magic carpet. The name sounds Dutch. Are you Canadians? (just wondering for further credit where credit is due)
Thank you... and your brother RIP

Love Gino. More Cowbell my brother!
+James Brown THERES THIS FEVER…….. !!
I saw Gino on his first tour in Atlanta at the Fox Theater in the late 70's. It is still one of the finest live performaces I have ever been to. Thanks for posting this.
Who is playing electric bass on this?...…….of all the great talent here that bass is the most driving lines I've ever heard since the days of Jaco……….
Absolutely stunning performance....Gino live lacks for nothing, and fantastic musical support!!!
Thanks so much for posting
I wish music was all like this, not the crappy things we watch on MTV... this is the real meaning of music!! You just play this song to someone that wants to know what is good music!!! SUPERB!!! Thanks for posting!
God whether it is possible that something like this exists, this is a fantastic live large Gino vannelli
Some 20 years gone bye and still a reason to listen to the music of yesteryear when delivered by a wonderful vocalist! What about the arrangement too. Will music of this standard ever return?
Yes! its the famous Peter Tiehuis (wasn't that in the info?)
Genius, baby. Pure genius…
Astounding!!!
One of the best things Gino's ever done -it brings tears to my eyes.
Great performance, great solo by Peter Tiehuis. But with a Gibson Les Paul it should have sound a lot better. Thanks for posting.
+moonmadness1 I think his tone is awesome on the strat.
Simply wonderful. It doesn't get any better than this..
I never get tired of watching this. I would to see him perform this in person. One of the best vocalists ever - hands down.
....Yes, Agreed----Maybe when COVID is Over....!!!....:)

I still like Mark Craney's original drumming...better, although this is good.
What a marvel of a synergy!
Wonderful version!
Thank you very much for posting!!!
Sincere regards from Mexico!
I'm quite sure it is Arno van Niewehuize (which is not the bold headed percussionist)
I wish I had a cd of this "live" performance so I could hear it on my Boss system and listen to every singel instrument. Gino is indeed a master of his craft. This was another great performance.....oh yes...and more cowbell!
Ah.. My very favorite male singer!
Thank you for your complement and sincere love, I am not complete without you, as a fan of mine, for which i must be very grateful
Been a fan since the 70s. Awesome musician, gets better with age.
André Rieu seems to rule down under too but is quite different in style ;-) anyway, I agree with you about the best ever with such an orchestra and would have preferred Gino above Andre but having so much pleasure with music is the point, enjoy! Greetings from Amsterdam

Thank you for your complement and sincere love, I am not complete without you, as a fan of mine, for which i must be very grateful
Beautiful, but nothing tops the original guitar solo by Carlos Rios.
This is fantastic! Thank you for posting. What a great performance by Gino and the orchestra!
Thank you for your complement and sincere love, I am not complete without you, as a fan of mine, for which i must be very grateful

@@Geepereet Gino seems to always find the most amazing drummers 😲
Can someone say who the conductor is?
who's the drummer?
Love the pure joy in the faces from the orchestra members.
Absolutely fantastic!!! Music as it should be
breathtaking...
Looks like Dick Bakker is having fun…what a great performance!
Saw this one a long time ago.Great video! Isn't it strange that many conductor's have no body rhythm?

The drummer is not martijn vink, but Arno van Nieuwenhuizen
top brother!
I enjoy this version of Brother to brother better than the original
Quien es el director?
CARLA GALLETA : Dick Bakker
Peter Tiehuis FTW! Wat een verschrikkelijk goede solo.
A legend!
Thats some conductor, I love the way he keeps to different beats of rhythms while conducting.
Thank you for your complement and sincere love, I am not complete without you, as a fan of mine, for which i must be very grateful
The guitarist is fenomenal!! Is it Peter Tiehuis?
