    You don't need those fancy things. 1/2 cup cold water in a 4-5 inch diameter bowl. Crack egg and put it in the middle. Microwave for 55 seconds. The egg surrounded by cold water keeps it from exploding. Take out of microwave and let egg sit in water while you fix your toast. Works every time. Plus you don't have to pierce egg white or yolk.

      I cook 2 eggs this way, but I add a splash of cider vinegar to keep the eggs whites and yolks together per egg. I dont have room for these gadgets. My eggs have never exploded.

      I do this in a coffee cup, probably easier to retrieve from the bowl.

    The microwave egg poacher I use does not require piercing the yolk, piercing the whites is a sad joke. It requires you melt a small amount of butter in each pocket, put the eggs in and spray some water on top and on the lid. One minute 15 seconds later, for four eggs and rather nicely poached eggs. I've never had a single explosion in dozens of uses and yes I have a 1200 watt microwave.

    There are a ton of microwave age poaching videos, and the always start with a half cup of water per egg. Then the egg is placed IN the water. Water first keeps it from sticking and better shelters the egg from the extreme radiation-the water basically attenuates the power directly (because that's not how low-power on a microwave actually works.) If you have enough water, it comes out way better. It's also much neater to poke the egg with a toothpick. Some add a pinch of salt, or a tsp of vinegar.
    PS: Maybe avoid breaking the yolk. I always break them into a cup so I only get the unbroken ones, and no pieces of shell if I have to fish them out.

    These things, like a cup or a bowl, work. Just add the water first and don't overcook. No explosions.

  • @ABBALANDA
    @ABBALANDA 9 лет назад +18

    you can poach eggs exactly the same way by simply cracking one into a normal coffee mug full of water and nuking on medium or high for a minute or two

      I have some glass bowls that I use for single eggs and I just did a pair of eggs in a microwave-safe normal bowl. Both work just fine.
      It's only $4, but save your money.

      Halfcan Tan
      Beats me. Mine is 1250 wats and it takes 40 seconds to do one egg.
      Try it for a minute and see if it works. The worst that will happen is you’ll waste an egg or two until you get the right time.

    No. Just get a bowl or a cup. Crack the egg in cold water and make sure the water covers the yoke. No need to pearce. Cover with some kitchen towel and cook. Depending on your microwave wts. I cooked mine for around 2 mins. Did for 1 min first but wasn't cooked enough. Tried another 30 seconds, and then 20 seconds. Was perfect. No yoke explosion. Based on a 900wt microwave. As they say "Men are the best chefs".

    Make it on the stove in a frying pan filled with medium heated water not boiling hard takes 3 mins for a large egg I cook 4 to 6 at a time depending how many are eating normally 2 a person.

    • @harddazeknight
      @harddazeknight 5 лет назад +1

      A tablespoon of vinegar helps hold all the egg white together instead of drifting out into the whole pan. The vinegar taste evaporates with the boiling water.

  • @jackdeath

    It's for idiots who don't know how to poach an egg in the microwave. It works well enough but the quality is no better than the poached egg you get from an egg McMuffin from McDonalds, with the yoke cook thru.

  • @MultiChuckleberry
    @MultiChuckleberry 3 года назад +2

    What a waste of time and money!! Drop them in a small bowl of water, don't pierce the yolks and microwave for about 1 min 15 secs and you will have two perfectly poached eggs. You dont need this piece of crap hanging around your klitchen producing an inferior poached egg.
