@WallieB26. I'm from Mercer. They closed up due to a sewage problem. I remember the bathrooms smelling like sewer. I had a long-time family friend that was the manager
If you're ever in CT, check out Wilson Pizza Palace in Windsor. It's a former McDonald's from the 70's that closed in the early 90's then changed hands. The interior is still 90% original from when it first opened as a McDonald's. It's a time capsule and genuinely stunning to see.
I never ever saw him in New England. He should do some videos around New England. On the way to Maine in the 1970s, I used to stop at an old A&W called the Starboard Side.
Just looked up this awesome time capsule on Google Maps, I can't imagine a modern day McDonald's having flower wallpaper or stained glass lighting. I also love how they just turned the M's on the windows upside down to make them W's for Wilson.
Awesome video, Wallie. I spent a lot of time at this McDonald's back in the 80's in my teenage years. I reminded when they built this place, it was a huge deal for the little town of Mercer.
It was additional parking for semi trucks and buses. Greyhound used to stop there along their route to Mercer back in the day before greyhound stopped having a stop in Mercer and the closest was Zelienople. I used to live close to there and when my husband and i were dating when he took greyhound to see me they stopped there before going to the bus stop.
Are used to live about 2 miles from there, outside of the town back in 2012-2015 I would go to that McDonald’s every day and just seeing that view again it’s just bring me back so much memories
Really cool video. I love your whole idea of the then and now videos. Seeing the tan colored tiles on the walls brought back a blast from the past. When I worked there for a little bit, way back in 1990, I had the uniforms that were brown, tan, and gold colors. I loved everything about McDonald's except for the for the ugly colored uniforms, lol. That was like taking a step back in time, and it was awesome. Thank you for the adventure and kudos!!!
I can remember when that place was new and we as kids invaded it after the football game. Did not last long . We all got removed. It was a mess inside. Kids should not act like that . The Coach was not happy .
I remember having one of those little hotwheels-sized mcdonalds things, and the way there appears to be a hill around the drive thru lane for the speaker... It reminds me of that tiny scale mcd. As for the parking lot near the drive thru window, it may be truck parking. A mcd in my city literally has a parking lot for semi trucks.
I remember this place! I came across it by accident coming back from my Maine trip back in 2019. Can’t believe it almost been 5 years this October. I have a suggestion, could you revisit the Burger King in Erie / Fairview, PA.
nice to see home being posted up on youtube. still go back and visit family. agreed with Steelersgirl. it was closed due to sewage issues. the side with the drive thru window was for semi parking/rest area. semi's used to stop and idle there over night.
Loved the drive thu bite, cracked me up 😂. Lived in the area all my life, 50 + yrs. Extra parking lot was for bigriges & campers & trailers. Used to stop for breakfast on our way to the Burg.
Good video1 This sure is an old style McDonald's place for sure! You don't see too many McDonald's places like this anymore! Nice! Enjoy these updated videos!
Hello from Conshohocken, pa 👋 👍 😂😢😮 born and raised in Montgomery County, next to philly 😊😊, your channel came across my news feed, today JULY --9--2024. I like your videos 📹 so far you are pretty cool , i have been all over PA, but still i really want to explore more . My name is Barlow and i am a paraplegic in a wheelchair, but i don't let that slow me down . I have a 2019 Honda mini van. I will check out more of your video's
It closed in 2015, view the street view on US 19 (In 2015 street view image) on Google Maps, they were in the process of removing the yellow roof lights in the photograph. In 2014 and images before that the parking lot was always full of vehicles.
@@Sharkie626 Here is the street view in October 2015 when they were in the process of removing the yellow lights from the roof: www.google.com/maps/@41.1962248,-80.2409177,3a,26y,269.94h,88.47t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s-mQ_Vit0hNKk7i1TFtogXQ!2e0!5s20151001T000000!7i13312!8i6656?coh=205409&entry=ttu
I sure do miss the old style McDonald's restaurant's Not only because they were cheaper and actually affordable back then but it was just a better experience!
As you said, the building seems in good shape-remarkable given the place closed seven years ago (as of the date of the video); seems like not only is someone maintaining the outside, looks like the inside is being kept up…
My brother Ryan Ryder met you saturday Im the one who gave him the Steelers 2023 team pic to give to you! Were huge fans of you and just want to say thanks for the retro Wallie Hills styled pins. He said youre a cool dude glad were both Steelers guys too 🖤💛👍😎 keep up the great content! Theres many cool places in the Cleveland area to check out ask my brother! Theres a LJS on Brookpark Rd. Still in business should film it and get some fish and hushpuppies lol
Thank you both for the awesome gifts! That was really nice of you! Speaking of the Steelers, let's see what we do this year with Russell Wilson! I'm pumped. I'll have to check out that LJS! Hope to meet ya next time I'm up to properly thank you for the Steelers team photo! That was pretty cool! I try to be cool. I'm probably far from it. Haha. But I'm glad you guys think so! Glad to finally meet at least one of ya! Haha
@WallieB26 no problemo bud! Glad you like it! Yes I'm hyped for football season as well! I think he'll be a good addition to the Steelers. And yes we should all eat at LJS sometime that could also be a cool POV video review of eating at a vintage LJS.
I forgot to add how totally surprised that I was to not see any real damage done. There were no boarded up windows or doors, broken glass, ect. It seems like most abandoned places are no longer closed up before people start to vandalize them.
I find it very interesting that there’s a separate stand alone cooler/freezer. Is that a common thing with McDonald’s or any other particular restaurants?
I bet there was an old Texaco gas station that got torn down as many of them closed by 2008 when Texaco was brought by Chevron Oil Company in 2005. Chevron mandated that all Texaco branded gas stations upgrade to Chevron. Many owners told them go stick it and closed up shop. The two Texaco stations in Moon Township PA were owned by the same owner. He closed both in 2008 and Giant Eagle brought the Texaco Service Station off of Brioadhead Road down from Kmart in 2011. I bet that lot was an old Texaco.
Pretty cool, I go to that Burger King often, but I was never at the McDonald's there. There's also an old McDonald's building in Hermitage, theres been other businesses in it since it closed, 1910 e state st.
@SagePerkins-le2ej Nothing's impossible. One day, the McDonald's corp will change their minds by restoring their restaurants to their original retro designs.
I go by here frequently, but I'm pretty sure it was closed before 2017..I've been at my current job (that brings me by there frequently) since 2014, and don't think I have ever seen it open
only way that one was remodeled would be a complete teardown/ rebuild. Has happened to quite a few McDonald's around me in the last 10 years. It was done to a Taco Bell and Arby's on the same road in the last 5 years.
I’m not sure why this McDonald’s shut down as it’s rare. But it being dated and not investing any money into it? I don’t know. A McDonald’s local to me still had the 80’s cursive font and some neon, but they recently just updated it with the modern look. Maybe this one just preformed poorly? It’s strange though.
I kind of missed the old school buildings of McDonald’s that I grew up in going towards. I rather have an old school McDonald’s building with modern interior inside.
Hey, google maps shows a McDonald’s on Snow Rd in Parma, but google streetview shows an empty lot with a former Burger King there. Is there a McDonald’s there now?
That place is Still Abandoned? I am really suprised. At least it still has character, Today's Mcdonald's Are UGLY Shoeboxes, I hate it, I also am not a big fan of Mcdonalds There food does not taste very good. Also Do you have any upcoming Meijer Videos? I like those.
@WallieB26. I'm from Mercer. They closed up due to a sewage problem. I remember the bathrooms smelling like sewer. I had a long-time family friend that was the manager
Glad to see you brought the drive-thru skits back they're always enjoyable
It’s been a while since you done a drive-thru skit 😂 I definitely think that you should bring that series back.😁
What a beautiful view.
Love the drive thru skits, very funny
oh yeah that old mcdonalds i remember when i was kid thanks for sharing wallie :D

Google Streetview from 2014 indicates that the lot nextdoor was for oversized vehicles parking. The outside of the McD looked pretty rundown by then
Good Old Abandoned McDonald's Revisiting
I get it.
Love that you brought the drive thru skits back! Love the video!
Glad you enjoyed!
10:44 That Shell gas station over there used to be a BP.
There was no reason for them to close this building down and abandon it just because it needed "modernized" This was still a perfectly good building!

I Love The Drive Thru Skits.
I have lived in the area for 32 years and as far as I knew there was never anything on that vacant spot, was always used for the truckers parking.
Was this ever an Arch style McDonald's, anyone know?
I always love the drive thru skits :)

Thx u wallie for doing an update ❤
great video wallie! love the scenery with the pond so close to the drive thru !
We appreciate you.
I appreciate your videos. They are very good.

Good video1 This sure is an old style McDonald's place for sure! You don't see too many McDonald's places like this anymore! Nice! Enjoy these updated videos!
Awesome 😎 thanks for sharing Wallie.📸✌️
Hey Wallie! Thanks for the McDonald’s throwback! Yeah they definitely don’t look like that for sure!
That's awesome keep up the good work

We'll get it back.
You should visit the abandoned McDonald's in Morehead, KY it's by a gas station called arco
As you said, the building seems in good shape-remarkable given the place closed seven years ago (as of the date of the video); seems like not only is someone maintaining the outside, looks like the inside is being kept up…
The McRib should be available all year on the menu. It's my favorite fast food sandwich 😋 !

Next time you're in the area you need to check out the old abandoned Sunset Drag Strip.
Amazing...I hope something will come in soon. It doesnt look bad for being closed for 7 years ..
wallie can you make a playlist of your drive-through skids please
Love your shirt WallieB26 I'm a huge Nascar fan
.... I'm loving it

I find it very interesting that there’s a separate stand alone cooler/freezer. Is that a common thing with McDonald’s or any other particular restaurants?
Years ago it was common. They haven’t built a McDonald’s with a stand alone. cooler/freezer in years.

The one you need to visit is in Alaska. I forget but it’s on an island. I seen a video of that, it’s pretty wild to see.
The ambience of the rain
We're here with you.
Enjoy your videos really like that shirt you are wearing👍👍
Awesome 👌 video
It'll be great to see this vintage McDonald's restaurant restored and reopened to its former glory.
@SagePerkins-le2ej Nothing's impossible. One day, the McDonald's corp will change their minds by restoring their restaurants to their original retro designs.
I would love to see a patio overlooking that pond and call it The Pondview Drive In .
I go by here frequently, but I'm pretty sure it was closed before 2017..I've been at my current job (that brings me by there frequently) since 2014, and don't think I have ever seen it open
Nice video and nice HMS shirt Wallie!
There is an abandoned Burger King and Sheetz right near each other in plum borough. I hope you can do a video on them
We’re always with ya! When will Kate be alongside you?
Hopefully soon. Just a waiting game at the moment.
only way that one was remodeled would be a complete teardown/ rebuild. Has happened to quite a few McDonald's around me in the last 10 years. It was done to a Taco Bell and Arby's on the same road in the last 5 years.
I leave in mercer county and I really miss that McDonald's when I am over there
I grew up in mercer the lot next to it was truck parking witch in its self in unque for a mcdonald's
If it's and old style building, maybe they have old style fries and McNuggets. They tasted way better!
Hey Wally, can you please check out the abandoned sonic in Brinkley Arkansas?
Whenever I can return down there I will certainly do so. I know what Sonic you're speaking of. Surprised that closed. That was brand new!
OK
And after that, I found an abandoned Captain D’s
In Clarksville, Tennessee
Do the Piqua McDonald's next (revisited)
Has the one in Youngstown been torn down yet?
That is an old it looks like the one that my grandmother took me to in columbus georgia when i was a kid in the 80s 😊
Good video
You should do more drive thru skits
The roof looks new
I wonder if it still smells like fry grease.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL LOOK OUT FOR THAT BLACK MOLD .
Keep up the good videos it's all the places I like I mite have to visit pa and meet up with ya
I remember when the golden arches were on wheels, as seen on the vintage order screen! Not a fan of change.

I kind of missed the old school buildings of McDonald’s that I grew up in going towards. I rather have an old school McDonald’s building with modern interior inside.
In the future 2044 we will be getting nostalgic for the grey shoe box restaurants LOL
This place has potentials to make a nice little restaurant
No McDonaldland cookies 😢
Did they shut that mcdonalds place down
Retro is awesome!shoeboxes boring!😆
here's the second one since RUclips doesn't allow hitting the button twice👍
I forgot this used to be here. The Burger King is still there, so I just forgot about it.
the building: *is abandoned*
the sign: N
Your a good American
That’s what McDonald’s look like when I first started working for them back in 1995
This looks alot like the recently abandoned parma ohio mcdonalds on snow rd I forgot to mention it to you as it's on the other side of town
Hey, google maps shows a McDonald’s on Snow Rd in Parma, but google streetview shows an empty lot with a former Burger King there. Is there a McDonald’s there now?
@@E_LPacked yes the new mcdonalds is where the burger king was located
I used to work at a McDonald's
Cool
Longer i wait here im gittin Hangree and hot n spicy 😆🤣
It kinda looks like a burger king with the way the roof is shaped
coo vidow..Am not a fan of McDonald's tho.
Please be careful when you explore these places
