I can't decide if you or Retro Game Corps is the best channel for this kind of stuff. You both approach it differently so your channels complement each other nicely.
9:28 I believe the reason for this discrepancy is because, on the GBA, GBA SP, and even the original DS, the RGB subpixels were slightly different colors, specifically the green subpixel is actually more of a yellowish green.
The ONE thing holding me back from getting this is that I love Miyoo, and the Miyoo Mini Flip may have cross save with the Steam Deck with custom firmware OnionOS and OnionSync.
We generally use retro handhelds rather than emulators, but I love watching your videos about them. I have softmodded PSP 1000, 2DS and New 3DS, which not only covers my needs pretty well (since the N64 games I'm most interested in got DS and 3DS ports, and otherwise I'm going for NES and SNES which they all can do - and my New 3DS I got for Red Viper), but also my whole family since it's just 3 of us.
My brother does have a emu handheld, though. If I ever figure out which one he has I'll probably send him any video you've done on it since he's having trouble with his games not saving. Unless he fixed that, I don't know.
I ordered 4 at the 3am launch on their site. 2 blue, black, silver. Will let my GF choose which color she wants when we do anniversary gifts, but I damn sure wanted blue to match my RG36s in blue. One of those I am sure my sister will want as she uses the RG36S I got her all the time. I've bought 10+ ChinaBoys in the past year and a half and man. We are in the golden age right now for cheap handhelds. Future children of mine will be so spoiled on gaming...
I already have a Miyoo Mini, so I don't *need* this, but god, is it tempting. Lol. That being said, it's a shame MinUI loses some big features, cause it looks really nice. I am curious about one thing tho: Did they actually mean "Game Rooms," or is it a typo of "Game ROMs?"
I love this thing! I think MUOS is awesome and I love messing around with these low end emulators especially. The fact that I can play Stardew Valley, and retro roms up until ps1 is honestly crazy. I mainly play GBA,NES, and single screen DS games on here. I don’t like it as much as my Steamdeck though. Steamdeck opened up Pandora’s box and my eyes were opened lol. This new wave of handhelds is so nice and I wish I had these when I was in highschool.
I like how Bob in the other video was like, my audience is cool enough to watch a video of a review of something others already reviewed, and he’s right, I always like Bob’s take, and he always offers another different view compared to other people in the retro space
Hey Bob, awesome review of the new handheld and love the comparisons as always. Also just letting u know there was a double over lapped Audio file at 13:45 in the video, not sure if that was intended but it was very oddly out of place. Keep up the great work Fam!!
That spreadsheet is awesome! It would be even better if you were able to put on there what the most powerful system it plays, assuming everything below that works. Or if you could just have several sheets. 1 for each model showing Each emulated system it plays, rated as poor, good or excellent. And then have your affiliate link on there. You could make a master list. That would be more amazing.
I love, love, love mine! I got the blue one, shoved some extra roms on a flash card - formatted to FAT32 - in the correct folders and BOOM! Better than the original SP. I do recommend getting better micro SD cards than the ones supplied as they are notorious for failing. I have used Amazon basic cards, they are super cheap and I have used them for a good few years in my ANBERNIC devices with no issues. I enjoy putting custom firmware on the devices usually straight away, but I have to take my hat off to ANBERNIC - they seem to be listening to the community! I actually like this firmware. The game room is good for casual players and then they have the RetroArch section for tinkerers like me! I do want the silver one now, very classy looking! Great review as always!
My SD card corrupted and erased all of the roms right when I was attempting to backup the data to my PC. Any idea on how to obtain all of the stock roms from Anbernic? I issued a customer service ticket a few days ago but still haven't heard back.

Got mine last night! I have medium to large hands and the Miyoo Mini Plus is too small for me to play classic fighting games. I love how this is a little chunkier and keeps my hands from cramping up
I am considering buying one of these, the only real thing stopping me is the color selection. I wish they had more variety! I was actually about to modify an original Sp then this thing magically showed up. I'll probably still modify it, but this device is more versatile.
I actually love the size of the device. I modded my actual Gameboy SP a few months back and while I love the small pocketable size of the original, it just got a bit too cramped for my long fingers 😂 The RG35XX SP is the perfect size for my hands and pocket!
I remember when the hype about linux handhelds started ages ago. I purchased a Dingoo back then. It was pretty neat and there was the thrill of installing 'Dingux' in it. But then android phones and bluetooth or usb controllers became more and more popular and that's how I play my library so far today. Anyone who has a phone in theyr pocket can likely play whichever retro titles they want with less of the hassle and superior screen quality, superior battery life. The variety of anbernic form factors (some of them overpriced) makes me question what is it that grown ups (mostly guys) are looking for in these products. Haven't you heard of Daijisho??
its almost perfect, if only it had a 2nd screen and touch enabled for NDS games. you can still play pokemon heart gold or soul silver easily enough switching between screens. or memorizing your attack spots (only 4) but it is an extra annoyance. would gladly pay a little extra for an upgraded model of this.
Hey, something to replace the Miyoo mini for actually travelling with! Since I don't have to worry about the screen getting scuffed or damaged so much in the pocket on a clamshell, and it should have a roughly equivalent pocket space footprint! The sleep mode looks inferior, unfortunately, but that's fine for the types of games I'd typically be playing on it while traveling anyway.
I gotta wonder how Banjo-Kazooie would play on something like this, given the game makes HEAVY use of Z+C buttons and is very dependent on the analog stick. So to clarify, you're saying that pushing the power button gives the D-pad a full range of motion similar to an analog stick? Good god, if 8BitDo figures out how to implement that on their Pro Lite controller (the one that swapped the analog sticks out for twin D-Pads), I'd never use another controller ever again. It's just so pocketable. This thing looks super sick. Retro/emulation handhelds are doing some ridiculously cool shit these days. Love to see it.
Very kind of you to promote a literal fire hazard of a device, Wulff. Amazing stuff, truly. These cheap handhelds don't have proper voltage regulators, so their components just bulge up and burn at the first opportunity. And this has happened with quite a few of those RG35XX-SP devices. So my suggestion: don't buy this, it's not worth risking a house fire.
I really love mine. I loved my original RG35xx too, so it was a natural move up. Ps1 is mainly my jam on it but I’m really digging the Dreamcast support as well Currently run a mix of my own acquired roms for various systems and some of what the stock card came with. Been exploring the MAME selection from stock and it’s been a blast
I wish I could get one of these! I hope I do at some point because it sounds like the perfect thing to both keep me hyped about my interests AND keep me off other less desirable distractions like social media. I find it that retrogaming has a level of simplicity that feels therapeutic to me and helps me deal with my anxiety and ADHD!
Ive had it for a week. No complaints at all. It comes loaded with games, just none of them are Mario for obvious reasons. Pokémon is fantastic on it. The screen doesn’t compare to the analogue pocket. That’s also like $150 more
Love the shell, this should stay like this as it is, with future upgrades, what would be nice if a GBA connection port so I can play with my friends while I'm on my Analogue

'Rebeccas Puzzle' from Mirrors Edge... I LOVE it! I use to have that tune on repeat when I went for runs or working out!
Honestly this video convinced me to finally get an emulation device, and I'm looking forward to getting this one.
Was happy to hear the Mirror's Edge music in the intro!
this makes me want to fix my sp’s buttons and maybe grab a flash cart for it, such a great design
That part where you got hit with the ice hit home sooo hard.
Thank you for what you do ! .. I rely on your reviews for my purchases .. and you haven't failed me yet !
I was waiting for this form factor for years and I finally have it as my first purchase 😊
This is Anbernics best device yet (besites the RG35XXH, and RG 556).
That was the best AD I have ever watched. 😂😂😂😂
Another awesome video,I thought I was the only one who didn't mind the clicky buttons😅. Anbernic done well with this one. I love this device 🔥🔥
We staying Stock Os for now it's awesome and runs everything perfectly
Two thumbs up for the Mirror's edge track opening
@@mechBENgineer Unfortunately I don't. I can't post links here either. All I will say is Google is your friend. Just make sure you scroll past the sponsored links and don't download .rar files.
8:19 that tripped me hard! I thought that was the og thing for a sec 😂
Yep I love this one. Pretty form factor + works fine. Amazing
you are the first and only one to warn me about the game room tab XD
You are the only channel where I won't skip the sponsor, I always love your skits.
Sweet, ordered one today for GG/SMS/GB/GBA only. Looking forward for it it arrive!

Playing Sonic Adventure 2 on a GBA SP was a dream of mine. It only took 20 years.
Got mine last night! I have medium to large hands and the Miyoo Mini Plus is too small for me to play classic fighting games. I love how this is a little chunkier and keeps my hands from cramping up
Possibly my favorite purchase gaming wise since my SteamDeck… But I am a GBA SP Clam kinda guy, biased af. This is actually a banger from Anbernic
This is the PERFECT emulation device, everything I've ever wanted from one.
The Powkiddy RGB30 and the Anbernic RG35XXH are the 2 devices that made me jump into retro handheld gaming again.
I am considering buying one of these, the only real thing stopping me is the color selection. I wish they had more variety! I was actually about to modify an original Sp then this thing magically showed up. I'll probably still modify it, but this device is more versatile.
This looks like the Pico-8 machine I've been waiting for!
I had the OG all black one what a trip down memory lane
I'd love something like this with dual analogue for playing 3D games with the neat GBA SP form factor and visual aesthetic.
I just got mine a few days ago. So far I’m lovin it!!
Wow, I am sold. Clamshell and emulation is good outta the box.
Love my 351v. Can't wait for my SP to get here. This is gonna live in my pocket.
Got the clear black one as my first handheld. Only using it for GB-GBA as i've got every console but im absolutley loving it.
I've been watching your channel and considering buying something like this for years now. This is the one i think
Finally a fresh Abernic device that actually works!
Running Knulli on mine, love this little thing.
its almost perfect, if only it had a 2nd screen and touch enabled for NDS games. you can still play pokemon heart gold or soul silver easily enough switching between screens. or memorizing your attack spots (only 4) but it is an extra annoyance. would gladly pay a little extra for an upgraded model of this.
Agreed kid. I bought the silver and the grey. This is probably Anbernic's best handheld with the exception of the RG350.
Ah I think the one where he's a pilot is called Top Gun
Enjoyed your video , thanks for good insights! 👍
Yes Tom Cruise was in the movie Cocktail back in 1988.
Funny the guy from garlic had a problem with your tweet just asking. Garlic seems like it will never get done for the plus series.
Ps1 is mainly my jam on it but I’m really digging the Dreamcast support as well
Currently run a mix of my own acquired roms for various systems and some of what the stock card came with. Been exploring the MAME selection from stock and it’s been a blast
Thanks for video, really enjoying to watch
Thanks you for the guide to turning teh snes overlay off
I definitely am going to buy this. This has been the emulator hardware I've been waiting for
I wish I could get one of these! I hope I do at some point because it sounds like the perfect thing to both keep me hyped about my interests AND keep me off other less desirable distractions like social media. I find it that retrogaming has a level of simplicity that feels therapeutic to me and helps me deal with my anxiety and ADHD!
Nice.mirrors edge music at the intro
Fantastic review of the XXSP
Mine is right next to me on my desk and it's my favorite piece of tech in a long time!
Bob, great video my dude.
Sweet device, sweet video. But most gameplay shots where you're holding the device at a steep angle, like more than 45 degrees was hard to watch/disorienting. Maybe I'm the only one, but I needed to share. Also, I loved the add
