My cousin took us to Tel Aviv in his van, and there were no checkpoints at all. We talk about the Palestinian-Arab expulsion from the area in 1948 of about 750k Arabs, when Arab armies tried to eradicate the Jewish presence. Everyone's heard of the Nakba. Hardly anyone I've spoken to is aware that nearly 900k Jews were ejected or compelled to leave Arab/Islamic lands. Some left voluntarily, but far more left due to pogroms, due to repression and outright threats to their safety from the governments there. In many cases they had to leave behind their possessions which in today's money is equivalent to billions. They also had to abandon the land they owned, which in total was equivalent to nearly FIVE Israels. 650k of those refugees went to Israel, with the rest going to Canada and France. We talk of the Nakba, but the Jews lost more possessions, they lost more land, more of them were displaced, and today where there was once nearly a million Jews, there exists about 10k in Islamic lands. In contrast, over two million Arabs live safely in Israel. The big difference is, Israel took in those Jewish refugees. The Arab states refused to take in the Palestinian-Arabs and preferred to leave them displaced.

I have to admit, it's a detail which doesn't get mentioned enough. We talk about the Palestinian-Arab expulsion from the area in 1948 of about 750k Arabs, when Arab armies tried to eradicate the Jewish presence. Everyone's heard of the Nakba.
Hardly anyone I've spoken to is aware that nearly 900k Jews were ejected or compelled to leave Arab/Islamic lands. Some left voluntarily, but far more left due to pogroms, due to repression and outright threats to their safety from the governments there. In many cases they had to leave behind their possessions which in today's money is equivalent to billions.
They also had to abandon the land they owned, which in total was equivalent to nearly FIVE Israels. 650k of those refugees went to Israel, with the rest going to Canada and France.
We talk of the Nakba, but the Jews lost more possessions, they lost more land, more of them were displaced, and today where there was once nearly a million Jews, there exists about 10k in Islamic lands. In contrast, over two million Arabs live safely in Israel.
The big difference is, Israel took in those Jewish refugees. The Arab states refused to take in the Palestinian-Arabs and preferred to leave them displaced.

Yes there were always people living in the land but they were not a single entity and the land was never the land or nation of Palestine. That is an irrefutable historical fact. The original indigenous peoples and there were several were replaced by the Hebrews or you may call them Israelites. After the Assyrian conquest by Nebuchadnezzar the nation of Israel and Judea were taken into captivity in Mesopotamia. Read the history. Jews constituted around 9% of the population of Palestine in the late 19 century. The population of Jews increased much faster after the Belfour Promise in 1917 under the British Mandate. So, what would you called the people who lived in Palestine during that period?!
