Not the best procedure here at all. Always crack open the fill screw first and remove because if you can't remove the fill screw for some unknown reason how are you going to get the oil in when you've already drained it? Plus, removing the fill screw equalizes the pressure and the oil drains a lot faster
Yeah, a mechanic told this to me many years ago, and IMHO it´s wise to do it that way. I for some reason the fill plug gets busted, you can still use the bike to fix it if needed, but if you have no oil there because you removed the drain plug first, now you are somehow stuck. Well it´s not the end of the world tho, you still have options. You can take off the wheel , turn the gear 90º or more and fill the thing from the drain hole... But yeah, you are working harder for nothing. The advise is really good. Personally I didn´t had any issue unbolting those screws in whatever order I wanted, but who knows.
Love these short and easy videos. I got comfortable with all the basic service work watching your content. BMW calls for the expensive Hypoid G3 oil and it has a short shelf life. Dealers themselves seem to use the cheaper 75w90 oil when asked privately. With the replacement guarantee for 1250 drives for life, I see no need for expensive oil. What am I missing here?
Thanks for the video and detailed explanation. What tools do you use to service a 1300 motorcycle? Please provide links and the table according to the screw size and torque required for closing

Good tip, thanks!

I am not an "oils" expert, but it seems most everyone uses 75w90 gear oil. Make sure that is GL-5 rated.

I am working on creating a table. Thanks for watching.
