  • @okkrom
    @okkrom 2 года назад

    Watching you work gave me an idea to make individual indexed organizers.
    Instead of gluing the squares together, cut a slot, on the table saw, 3/8 inch from the bottom on 2 opposing sides of each individual squares as to be able to insert the bottom by sliding it in through then gluing it.
    The bottoms needs to be cut separately in just a tad bit less than4X4 or 5X5 squares.
    Then, to accomodate for the rounded corners you could drill, say a 3/8 hole, 5/16th deep at every 4x4 or 5x5 (or both) on a piece of plywood or melamine for example.
    Then cut 1/4 inch deep lines, wide enough for twice the thickness of the vinyl, intersecting these holes both up and down and left to right on the table saw.
    This would give you a grid with rounded intersections where you could slip in individual square organizers.
    This way you can adapt it to an existing toolbox or make a custom carrying organizer.
    You can also easily create custom mix and match hardware for any given job, lets say grabbing the containers with the marettes, the cable connectors, the 1 1/4 drywall screws, the 3 inch deck screws, the shelf pins and the 5/8 particle board screws.
    Just found your channel and I love it, thanks for the ideas! Thought I'd share my feedback.

    I know the adhesive isn't being pumped out of a 5 gallon bucket, however, 1/4 rubber hose on the end will let you caulk it from the inside, but building the structure, best to bed it in a 1/4" round bead like you did.
    Probably not strictly necessary to do between each compartment, but I appreciate that attention to detail.

    Color code the boxes so you can tell at a glance if it is a box of torx or drywall screws.
    You can avoid blowing out the rear edge o the plastic on the chopsaw by putting on a sacrificial fence to span the opening of the chopsaw fence. it is a 0 clearance insert for the fence. The plastic gets supported and you get clean cuts with NO blow out.

    What is that air tool you used to buzz the corners off?

      @NextLevelCarpentry  3 года назад

      It's a 45 year old version of a tool like this one available on Amazon Drew: www.amazon.com/dp/B0057D8ICC/?ref=exp_nextlevelcarpentry_dp_vv_d There's other ways of rounding off those corners but that little grinder works really slick for stuff like this... and more! Best, Matt

      @@prototype3a You bet... it was a go-to tool when I was doing auto body work in the late 1970's (if you can believe THAT) and I've had it ever since... they're very useful if you can justify the initial investment and have somewhere to store the tool. Also that little thing is an absolute air pig... it uses a crazy amount of CFM at like 90psi to it takes a big compressor with a big storage tank just to keep up with it... Best, Matt

      Thanks for your motivation and effort to sign up as a patron James I really do appreciate it. Not sure what to think about your email predicament assuming you have not signed up as a patron for Next Level carpentry or any other channel before. In my experience patreon can do some glitchy lame things at times so I'm not really sure what to tell you. Do you by chance have a different email address you could use to sign up with? You probably don't want to post your email address and a comment here but you can go to my next level carpentry website and contact me through the email address there if necessary to sort things out. I totally understand if you opt out because of the frustration generated by the platform and want you to know that I acknowledge your interest in supporting the channel whether or not you are actually able to do so.

    That crossover arm technique when material is on the right side of the saw is an extremely bad example. Learn to use your left hand to pull the saw. Yeah, I know, you were contorted safely (mostly) out of the way, but jeez, if you can run a drill driver left handed, you should be able to adapt a safer cut technique. It's better to be called Lefty for ability than accident. For an OCD guy, you missed that one.

    The way you cut the square pipe with the miter saw is very dangerous. you're crossing your left arm to the blade of the saw... please, there are some videos we can watch about using miter saw safely. you may be used with it and have always been safe for you, but some newbie who follow the way you cut may not be as skilled as you and could have an accident. I like your videos but I want to watch you more with 2 arms on your future videos.. 😇

    Hi Matt, I guess your moving into the realm of "Pay for RUclips" and the reason for that is you have posted 3 videos on patreon and none here, so since I cannot afford your "Pay for RUclips" I will just un-subscribe to your channel and keep in mind I or we have been there since the beginning. I will miss your videos and knowledge but it doesn't do me any good in patreon

      Sorry to hear that you feel abandoned by Next Level carpentry Marty... I know you've been an active viewer for quite some time which I've always appreciated. The content changes you see at Next Level Carpentry are part of the reality of building a viable online presence and I must admit that it has some unusual requirements. You're old enough to remember the days when you pulled into a gas station and sat in your car while attendants filled the tank and washed your windows right? Over time that business practice got to the point where it was no longer viable and now every gas station on the planet is self serve... if you want your windows cleaned you get out and clean them yourself. I don't expect it to convince you otherwise really but if you're open-minded about it I'm sure you can imagine that realities in the world of RUclips online are not unlike those of gas stations as they transitioned the 70s. I'll be sad to know you're gone but understand your decision to leave. Even unsubscribed RUclipsrs can still watch Next Level carpentry videos absolutely free not even paying the price of having their subscription count in the tally of total Channel subscribers and you're sure welcome to do that. I do wish you the best in life and all your endeavors Marty take care... Matt

      @@NextLevelCarpentry I realize the complexities of running a youtube channel and running a patreon channel as well as a full time job, and that my friend is a very FULL plate indeed. I was getting the feeling that you were reducing your youtube channel video time and focusing you efforts to the other channel. One of my other channels that I used to watch had grown so big that he realized that he had to hire a video assistant as well as a planner to coordinate all the extra duties that had been created. I guess he had what we call "Growing Pains". So I guess I'll stick around for awhile longer to see what happens. You take care Matt.

      @@martyjosephson4937 thanks for reconsidering... I don't like the prospect of alienating long-time viewers like yourself who've endured my slow progression in video production quality over the years. Seeing subscriber count grow back in the early days was so encouraging as motivation to keep on keeping on in a continual effort to improve watch-ability of NLC videos that the last thing I want to do is loose touch with those who had faith in me and this Channel. I hope what you see happen here continues to be video content that's worth the price you pay in minutes watched because that, like it or not, is the 'currency' of RUclips. I think your perception of the online economy reflects that of Content Producers who've been marginalized more than once by policy changes by RUclips that are, in effect, a cold slap in the face that DECREASES Channel earnings even as we continue to toil away producing the video content that makes billionaires out of RUclips/Google higher ups. Such is life in the digital age, right?
