Don't get me wrong, but only people from German-speaking countries can really understand the Werner films and comics! On the one hand, there is the North German dialect, which makes the whole thing so funny, which you don't even hear, but German-speaking people do, or rather, native German speakers. Werner's humor is mainly aimed at Germans and is hard to understand, especially for you Americans! As I said, that shouldn't be an insult!
As German I don't like the Werner Movies. The Humor isn't my Thing.

Not only the language is very Northern German, but also the humor and the overall "feeling" are typical for this region. Even for many Germans, especially from the South, it‘s sometimes hard to grab, I think.

The scene with the dog is so hilarious, when the tamper hits him and poop explodes all over the place :D laugh my butt off every time i see it :D

Of course, this kind of humor is more of a typically German thing, especially because of the dialect that is spoken in some areas of Schleswig-Holstein.

The German cartoon "Das Kleine Arschloch" (English: The Little Asshole) has the same adult humor as the Werner cartoons. You might also be interested.
Well not the same but an approach similar to Werner but way harder in execution. There are very good cartoons from Germany like Werner, Felidae, Das kleine Arschloch, Der kleene Punker. I'd say none of them are targeting kids. :)

Although Werner can be watched by the whole family, it’s not made for kids but clearly targets an adult audience.
That being said, I think there is less gun violence in German "family movies" than in their US counterparts, but therefore more nudity, sex… and obviously even dog poop 😉
Many (most?) of us don‘t feel the need to protect our kids from very natural things like the mentioned.
We also don’t sexualize nudity, which is a very significant difference between our cultures in my eyes.
Personally, I think it‘s important to teach our kids a healthy relationship with everything body related.
I grew up seeing naked adults of all ages and shapes, and I think it did not do me any harm at all.

in the second movie the boss mr.Röhricht tries to impress a partner by distilling his own schnapps but it goes horribly wrong :D due to the built up of methylalcohol.. its one of the funniest scenes i remember from the movies :D "das methyyyyyyyyl"
werner kind of represents the common north german trainee :D a lot of the funny scenes come from the constellation of Werner the trainee, Eckhart the employee and Röhricht, their boss. they have a very northern accent and dialect wich adds to it :D they call the beer "Bölckstoff" wich translates to "Burp-Stuff". Theres also a big comic book series from wich these movies originated :)

Impossible to translate in any language..not even in the slightest. Its the way they talk, not what the say thats funny. Its common construction side talk and bantering. Just like you cant translate deep south twang to british english of sorts..its only funny if you grew up with it.
