    It’s interesting that the rider aids seem to be a key differentiator for you. The rider aids on my Norden work well however even if they were missing I still would’ve chosen the Norden. After riding my buddy’s T7 the biggest differences to me are suspension, brakes, power, center of gravity, comfort. These fundamentals are a step ahead of the T7. AND the Norden has cruise control! 😁

      @flattopwill 2 года назад

      @@nuur2825 that’s simply untrue. I’m actively involved in Norden owners groups and forums. The majority are enjoying problem free motorcycles. The only significant reliability issue is shock failure and that is among a small number of Nordens. Don’t let the loud minority fool you into believing there are major issues.

    You are a braver man than I, I don’t know that I would take my T7 intentionally on a snow-covered asphalt road if that was asphalt I may be wrong. Especially with those tires. I have to concur about the seat I felt like the stock seat was trying to spread my pelvic bone apart like a vise. I put the rally seat on and it’s 100 times better it’s narrower at the top and it’s more comfortable. Great video, cheers from Texas

  • @MotorcyclesOffroad
    @MotorcyclesOffroad 2 года назад +4

    The T7 despite having a 34" seat height is really wide on the seat and tank which makes it feel really tall. Also I agree 100% with the windscreen, I replaced mine with one that is a few inches taller. The new screen blocks the wind so perfectly. Another great plus is that any exhaust you put on it the bike sounds amazing.

    I changed the tires on my T7 early because the handlebars became jiggly after a few thousand kilometers. Many other T7 riders say the same. I swapped them for the continental TKC70 rocks. Another significant mod on my bike is the high exhaust from hp corse. I f you drop the bike to the right, the damage can get really ugly with the stock exhaust.

    Back in September I put a deposit on a T7. I was at the top of the list (#1). In early February or so, I cancelled the deposit after debating for 2+ months that I probably needed to spend the money on replacing / fixing the well that provides water to my house. That particular T7 arrived the first week of March. There were 5+ people in line on the list at that point in time, which I heard when someone told me a T7 had arrived. The dealer called those 5 people, none of them wanted it. The 6th person got it. By that time I was having good results with a temporary water system in my house, so I put a deposit on a T7 again. I'm #3 on the list now.... but since then, I've been very close to cancelling my deposit again.
    Fast forward to a week ago today (Thursday) and I heard that a dealer in the next town over from me had a T7 waiting to get shipped from a warehouse on the coast. Last Friday I called and said I want it. Sadly, I've waffled multiple times all week about the "need" for one. I already have two bikes, a DRZ (which I've had since 2006) and a 2019 450 EXC-F Six Days KTM (which is awesome on trails in WA and at 10,000' + elevations in Colorado where I took it in 2020.

    I've had my T7 for a couple months now and my first impressions are very positive. I'm seeing lots of comparisons (rightly so) between the Norden and T7. As similar as they are in a general sense (weight/twin cylinder/displacement), they differ significantly in price, features and level of performance. I see the T7 as an entry level ADV bike - one that you can ride straight out of the box, or mod up to your liking and get closer to the performance of the Norden (particularly as it relates to the suspension). But also a bike that also has a high level of performance relative to ADV type riding. It's certainly not going to hold me back in what I'm intending to do with it. Of course, you're not going to add the rider aids/electronics, etc. If those are important to you, then you'll choose the Husky (or another bike in this category) over the T7, For me, the major differentiator is reliability. I do a lot of solo riding in the mountains of southern Oregon. I can be 20-30 miles from the nearest paved road without too much effort. I want/need to reduce that risk of breakdowns as much as possible and reliability is one of the primary ways to do that. I don't think the Norden or any of these similar bikes compare to the T7 for reliability based on the CP2 motor, simplicity in design and overall Yamaha track record. For me, that pretty much trumps all the bells and whistles. And, the bike rips!

    To the Pirelli Scorpion STR. On road, they're grat. On gravel, dirt and sand they do a grat performance because of the excavating nobbys. On wet roads and mud, there is non traction at all. I use them because of the 50/50 Str. and offroad capabilities. And I go out for a ride on dry weather. Otherwise I'm just careful.

    Loving it! Can't wait to see what you think once you've got some better tires. The Scorpions aren't *bad* tires, but they're more of a 80/20 tire than anything else - they're pretty darn good on the street but very meh offroad.
    Definitely have to agree about capabilities and feeling: it's an incredibly nimble, capable bike, and it makes you feel like a better rider because it's so easy to ride, BUT without TCS/ride modes/etc it requires you to *ride* it, or you'll end up eating dirt - it won't save you if you make a mistake. I've put mine down hard 5 times now :)
    Fortunately, it's tough, and stands up to abuse well. I strongly recommend grab rails for the rear, as it's pretty tough to pick up without them (given its height and high COG).

Then I thought about a KLX300 just so I could hit the trails, but based on what the economy has been doing, I thought I'd better not risk it, if I wind up getting less than half what I paid, when I go to sell it.
    So, I'm going to just pay off my ZX-14R, then the car, then save for the Africa Twin.

    It seems like quite the bike, I was very tempted by it myself, but would need to lower it... and then the Aprilia came out that was a smidge lower 🙂
    Hahaha.... "Thank you!" :D

    The much more direct comparison would’ve been the Tenere 700 compared to the Husqvarna 701 Enduro, don’t you think that would’ve made more sense??? I certainly do

    Man, nice but looks like it will wear you out quickly trail riding, more of a handful, than the KLR !

    I love everything about the bike when I read the specs but I could never own one for the same reason I passed on a 390 Duke. I'm shallow and I think they look derpy. 🤷‍♂️

    OK as a T7 owner since 2020 (see my 5K Review: ruclips.net/video/n4JSjxSrnEU/видео.html) I will offer some suggestions to increase your experiences with the T7:
    1) Dump the Pirellis ASAP - MotoZ Tractionators work super well on the T7
    2) Do the simple seat (reverse bolt) hack - makes getting to the battery compartment WAY easier (and zero cost)
    3) Dump the indicators - first serious off will rip off the front OEM Clown car units - (I actually put low profile R3 indicators on my fronts)
    4) Best seat for the T7 (IMO) - Seat Concepts low. I can literally ride 300 miles on that seat in good comfort (10 week order time)
    5) Get the T7 Rally screen adjuster kit - will allow you to raise the screen height. Inexpensive, easy hack - buffeting gone
    6) I am 5'8" and the T7 was just too tall for me - I put the Rally Raid 20mm links on mine - perfecto - so much more control and no sacrifice in performance offroad
    7) Dump the side stand kill switch - first serious off and it will get ripped off. T7 Rally makes a jumper switch for it - works fantastic.
    8) I am a fan of heavy duty bar ends - I went with the Hepco Beckers - the Bark Busters got wonked after one spill in deep sand.
    9) I am a big fan of Camel ADV products for the T7 - the anti bobble kit for the Speedo and the Galfer rear brake pads are 2 of the best upgrades I did to the bike.
    10) Definitely a 2 fingers on the clutch all the time Bike - I went for shorty levers - much better comfort than the OEMs for clutch and brake control off road
    Its a great bike - love mine more each time I ride it - welcome to the Dark Side. :D

    Great looking motorcycle and entertaining video. Seems like an oversimplification between the bikes to frame the difference as "are rider aids good or bad." Because you can just as easily turn them off on the Norden, maybe a fuller comparison is - is it worth +$4k to you to have the rider aids available when you choose. Like on a long BDR day or running around like a hooligan with explorer mode backed off enough to just save your ass at the last second.

    Are you going to update your trailer to fit both bikes inside? You need to bring both bikes to the rallies. You now have a new topic for presentations. Have both bikes for show and tell. When is your daughter getting her DL. Perhaps you will be able to keep both.
