Can you make me/us a favor ?? Can you tell the dimensions of oem handlebar of tenere 700?? i dont have the bike but im gonna buy it, but after a ride that i have i see that handlebar was litle low for me. So im thinking to say the dealer to instal some other handlebar before i buy it but i dont know what handlebar fit with cables of t7.. this handlebar , Protaper ATV High bars , do you thing that fit ??? i want the maximum height that i can go with no problem at cables.
Where do you go? Your vids inspired me to get a T7. I’ve done 2 BDRS and 16k miles all over the place. Thanks for that, hope you make more vids one day.
Just returned my Outback Motortek upper and lower crash bars . Tried to install them and after much cursing and 4.5 hours had to remove them . 2.5 hours later they were all nicely packed and ready to go . I was so pissed . Those bolts with the nylock nuts were too short and it took a lot of ingenuity to get them to go on with the washers . Then the damn 55mm main engine bolt was a total nightmare . Just couldn't get it to seat . Even when I threw in the towel after taking the right side plastics off to get a ratchet in there , to no avail , I still tried that bolt with successive removal of other stress points . Finally I tried it without anything and it did thread on but it was a bit cranky . Had a nice conversation with the part owner/owner and I learned about tolerance stacking . They sold 150 sets at that time and me and 2 others had issues and had to return them . Really like them but I can't chance going through that again with a different set . Probably go with Tourtech but want to see what Altriders final product looks like .
Hi everyone, I had the chance to be one of the first to have the T 700 Teneré since July 31, 2019 in France. I traveled 12000km including 6000 km off road. Part that you don't talk about in your video and that's important. Shock absorbers ... rear fork and spring. Depending on the weight of the pilot and the luggage you will have to change your springs because you will be talloning often. looking forward to seeing you in your next videos
Walter, can you tell me what specific R&G tie down loops that you bolted up to replace the pillion footpegs and how it worked with the Outback Motortek pannier racks? Did you still use the two " C " shaped spaces that Outback Motortek provided?
Very nicely setup. I like the front frame sliders because they should help protect your front fork guards. Take the original bolts as spares to replace the nylon bolts when they break from just rough roads. As easy-out might help as well.
I’m considering a few bikes and the top of my list is the Tenere 700 and the KTM 890 r. I must say your video is the first one to really inspire me. I love your bike and what you’ve done to it. Wonderful and inspiring video. I want to also do my first BDR in Idaho. This bike is quickly moving to the top of the list.
Ignore my other comment on your other T7 prep vlog about strap mounted basgs; your rack mounted arrangement looks supremely practical when fully loaded.
Question on the sliders . How do they attach . Are they independent of the axel ? Wondering how they would help in removing the front tire is key to getting to the axel bolts ? Of course I know you wouldn't have used them and said they will also help in aiding a tire issue , just asking for a little more clarity on those items . I think I will get them also as I opted not to get the center stand at the last second . Thanks again .
I did the exact same. Bought the sliders in lieu of the center stand. I went to lowes and purchased some aluminum channel and cut it to fit inside of my skid plate for the front and drilled a hole in it for the back (axle hole) to lube the chain. I do not have a center stand. the back sliders are under the axle nut though. I am experimenting with the best approach on the back.
@@waltersprang Called Altrider today and they are a friendly group . A friend of mine that's older than me just hung up his helmet , I think for good . That leaves me with 0 local friends with motorcycles . Any friend either sold theirs or moved away , far away . Time for new friends with Dual Sport ADV bikes . Well they just need a license cause I have an extra DR650 . Anyway the person I spoke to had some helpful information and they hope that they can still do their "a taste of Dakar" in Nevada next April . Well let's pray we have an April at all next year in a country that resembles what America was once some time ago , free . I'm not holding my breath but I will breathe easier if I can get those acres I'm looking at .
Glad u mentioned your battery booster/ jump starter! I have one and it’s awesome! Not only can I jump my bike if needed without having to have long cables, but it also has two USB ports (one of which is quick charging) a 12v output, a compass, and a flashlight. This allows me not to have to carry a bunch of USB adapters and a battery brick and lets me plug my mini air compressor easily. I have been able to help out my follow riders by having this and a couple of cars too. They are also relatively inexpensive! Your bike looks awesome! Could u link your mods? Did u put on the graphics; if so how difficult was it?
I have the same graphics in Red. Allow 6 hours to fit. The difficult part is making sure it aligns properly. The graphics are super sticky and pretty thick so expect air bubbles and some creasing. With patience it will come out fine.
You can go with just a change of clothes and a credit card if you want. I'm sure he is just using this run as a test run. Everyone always over packs, the key is to go enough times to realize what is used and what is just extra weight. Personally, back in the day I was into backpacking and I bought high quality lightweight gear, now I just let the bike carry the stuff instead of me. The variable for me is beak downs, easy to go overboard on tools and parts; my 'fix' is to over maintain and carry a tool kit of only the sizes on the bike.
As "DS Adventures" already mentioned, a list of all your farkles would be awesome. As your bike is one of the most impressive up mod collections I have seen to date it would be really helpful to us new owners to have that resource. I saw everything from bar mount equipment, barkbusters, alloy bits, that SKDA kit, Outback Mototech etc and I am sure lots that I have missed as well. Congrats on such a tight build. :) John, from the NEBDR.
Been going through all your videos. Glad I seen this before I hooked up my usb and your pdm60 is badass. Would of really like to seen how bad your garmin was to hook up. I bought the Montana and see like it might be a chore. Anyway kudos and thanks!!!
I am officially Mr. 510 subscriber . Wasn't sure if I heard you right but it sounded like you said Mexico as part of your trip . Obviously you would need to do something about that item that shall remain unnamed . I think I misheard you and you said New Mexico . Happy trails !
Curious, I’m looking to add some accessory lights to the T7. Since you had the S10, do the electrical connectors match on both of the bikes? Wondering if I get an S10 Harness from Baja Designs to run some lights I have will it run on the T7?
What gas mileage are you getting on the highway and on the dirt? Nice rig. So you decided to sell the S10? You must think the T7 is pretty good on the road as well to be selling the S10. I am about to do the same thing and go to something a bit lighter for some more aggressive trails.
When you said personal protection device I naively thought "gee, I thought he was going to New Mexico, not Tijuana" then I realize "oh, THAT personal protection device". 😃
Haha. I naively thought he was talking about a mask for Covid . Then I remembered he’s from Texas 😂. These videos have been great….saved me from much cursing!
Hey Steve! I had the same issue and finally figured out the only way to make it work is to push the xframe all the way back, then mount the rotpax main piece without the locking (threaded) bolt. Put the can on, then put on the threaded locking bolt to hold it on. Not ideal, but it works!
Steve Harrison i forgot your mention I did not use the plate that came with it. I just ran the bolts through the existing holes. Make sure you use loctite! I just lost mine on a road in NM!!
Spyder Eye I did new springs only so far. I ordered them from off the road in Germany. Front and back. I believe I will have to replace the shock in the rear as with the new spring I cannot get the sag adjusted completely
no need for the sliders mounted to the forks for lifting the bike as the front lift stand is made to fit just under the bottom of the forks, unlike the rear wheel which nned ths use of bobbins, mostly
What sort of country has America become for a T 700 rider to feel so insecure as to carry a handgun what a horrible lifestyle I just throw my leg over my bike and ride
And mountain lions...I live in northern New Mexico and was just down in central NM a few weeks ago and saw two mountain lions on two separate days, a baby bobcat (nerve racking-where’s mama?) and a TON of bear sign. Glad to have my PPD with me as well.

The T700 is nice, but the garage is the real standout in this video.
Thanks! It is the ultimate man cave for me.

No doubt! I did that a few times for sure!

Keyboard Dancers I like them to help protect the muffler too. But will remove them when doing day trips only.
Good luck with your trip
So, how was the BDR?
How was the New Mexico BDR? How did the Tenere do? I sold my Super Tenere a week or so ago and ended up buying a GS. I really like the new bike.
Ride safe. I'll also be doing that same trip in 6 days. I'll be coming from the north since I live in northern NM. I'll see you on the trail.
Fantastic!

Right now I am getting in the mid to high 40s. And yes. The S10 is going to be sold. I still love it but it feels like a pig compared to the T700.
I an assuming that the T7 is comfortable enough with hood wind management for your multi thousand mile trip to Alaska?
