My modded DR650 is also great off road now. Power and handling is great for the type of riding you are doing here. Problem is when I want to ride it like a sport bike on the street it's lack of power limits the fun. The T7's power off road is plenty and will be fine on road for most but the 20 + extra ponies of my 790 R and the electronics suite make riding it in anger quite exciting. I must admit I was an expert class road racer for many years and can push harder on pavement than the average rider though.
My 790R is Tuned and has a cat delete and muffler. The power it makes is absolutely awesome and kills the T7 on the road. Plus, the KTM sound is just stupid amazing
Love it!! Say - What did you do to keep TC turned off - I saw you turn it off in the beginning then - it just stays off? What did you find out? It does Sound Awesome! I like the Sound of the KTM too..
Do you think it’s possible to get Yamaha T7 fully decked out for trail adventures for the same price a bare bone 790adv R? Is a $3k budget for mods enough to get the T7 where you want it to be?
The bike is amazing right out of the box. The stuff I added were things that made it feel more like what I wanted it to. You can take this biek off the showroom floor and go ride it without any changes. Things like tires, suspension, bars, etc... Those are things I have done to my 790 as well to fit me
Great video makes me dislike the stock tires on mine all the more. Just curious why no speed indication? Also I noticed when you were having trouble getting it to stop, you had forgotten to disengage the ABS it was back on. Got my first crash on my Tenere out of the way, rocky descent got me, beat the exhaust up pretty good, little damage to the tail section, and a really good contusion to my wrist. Took forever to find a tree limb long enough and strong enough to bend the exhaust back out so the swing arm could move.
I grew up riding dirt bikes and have been street riding for many years now, just sold my street bike and making the switch to an adventure bike. I am down the the KTM 790R or the T700 in your opinion what is the better bike for me? I will probably be riding 60% dirt most of the stuff in my area are two track but there is some single track. I am 6’4” and weight 220lbs.
Love all of your mods, except for the low handle bar stance. You got me wanting one of these bikes, really bad. Question, do they make a tubeless liner for the rims on this bike?
Stock bars are way too high if you plan on riding the bike aggressively. if you just want to stand up on the freeway then I guess they are fine not sure about setting up the stock wheels tubeless. They are too wide for off-road use so I plan on replacing them
Did you disable ABS lights holy glow orange Right side bottom near the disable button Have to reset ignition or at least stop to disengage This should help fix the rear break issue as abs disengages it and feels like it doesn’t work at all
I accidentally put the front wheel on backwards. ABS is disabled front and rear due that the entire video Brakes feel like crap on this bike due to rubber lines (and a bent break pedal)
OK, you're getting this bike to a performance level on single track. Great. But will you then set it up for 'travel'... This is an 'adventure bike', invariably meaning finding the optimal compromise for on and off road, with likely +40lbs of kit. Your take on that would be helpful.
I'm not really into bike travel. I may cross that bridge down the road but it's not my main focus. I'm still in the small bike mind and throw them in my sprinter and drive to the trailhead for whatever reason. There's a lot of other guys using the bike for that and making videos about it. I'm weird
@@EverySingleSunday Sure Travis. I appreciate that from the general content, and great content it is. The important work you do should tell us where you can take the refinements this bike (...and at what cost) for the trailhead, so as the 'travel' rider can judge and find a balance. OK, that other perspective might not come wholly from yourself... but it would be good if you could eventually expand the discussion with someone who is credible. Indeed, there are some great contributors in Europe and Australia assisting the discussion, and now as you guys have the bike in the US I'm excited to see what'll appear... not least your suspension refinements.
it's impressive how well the T7 does, and it's very useful to know what mods can transform the bike into a genuine trail contender. I love the engine on these machines.
2 main things that seem to hamper the tenere as a true "adventure" bike is the amount of fuel it can carry and the fact that it doesn't have a bolt on sub-frame, if you put panniers and a lot of weight on the rear of it, and then subsequently bend the rear frame your SOL also the suspension seems to be the weak link, it's one thing to upgrade it for single track but the added weight of a true adventure set up is a different beast all together, I guess time will tell. Overall it looks like a great bike, I really like the black one, bad ass!
speedometer isn't working right? Fuel gauge, gear indicator, tachometer all working. Is there something wrong with it or was it just not connected after the tire change?
I might have missed it but what bar bend are you running? I agree that factory bars are too high but also don’t want interference with tank and fairing. Also, what size is that rear 908rr? I used to run the 908rr on my 950Super Enduro. Great tire. Enjoyed the video 🤙🏼
I got a Dunlop 908 rr for my KTM solely based on your opinion of them. Have you ridden them on the road at all? They are goin to be my off-road biased tire, but I’m curious.
Ya, they aren't bad at all. The front wanders a bit on the highway but it works just fine. I wouldn't plan any long trips around them but Ive commuted on them quite a bit
@@EverySingleSunday cool, good to know. i have a Motoz Desert H/T rear right now, and i cant imagine it's any worse than that. I'm going to use them for a long trip 90% offroad, with little highway jaunts in between. sounds like it will work just fine
Great, fun video. You can't find a better adventure bike for $10K. It doesn't have the ground clearance of the 790 but I never heard your bash plate hit, did it?
Ill have to add it all up. Tires and bars are the biggest thing the bike needs. Things like a the GPS are extra but not necessary to make her ride well
Hi everyone, I have the T 700 Teneré since July 31, 2019 and have covered 10,000 km, including 4,000 km off road. Never forget that you are on a motorcycle weighing more than 200 kg and in the event of a fall in technically difficult places and on a steep slope alone you can no longer raise the motorcycle. the T 700 is a heavy dual sport and its qualities are expressed on large tracks and long distances and long adventure trips. have a lot of fun with your motorcycles and see you soon
My 790 hit the ground five times yesterday and the 700 hit the ground three times yesterday We were both able to pick our own bikes up each time Just come down to the person riding it
@@EverySingleSunday in the example you just cited your friend come and help you so there are two of you. I have been doing long trips and motorcycle raid off road for many years and sometimes alone and I got through it, during small falls, but sometimes I was in great difficulty on certain terrains on steep slopes due to the weight of this type of motorcycle with luggage and tools ... These are very good motorcycles whether it is the T 700 Teneré or the 790 ADV R but on rock, large stones an enduro is much more suitable. I'm lucky to have a T 700 Tenéré and a 300 BETA X-TRAINER. I am not going to do long distance raid with the X-TRAINER as I am not going to get into difficulty alone with the T 700 Teneré on large scree. This is my analysis of the use of big dual sports. In the end everyone does what they want. Continue to have fun on each of your motorbikes. See you soon
Was waiting for this video after your last 790 vid. I also did my t700 suspension all in then +2 clicks out. Was great for me too byt will add springs in the future to front and back. If you could compare cost for the 790 vs 700 after upgrades. Its obvious the 700 has some room for improvement, but i'm wondering how there machines compare once few short comings are attended to. Such as once done T700 cost $13k with say upgrades, and 790 say $15K watch machine would you turn to and for what reasons is price had some weight. Would be a great topic once you got them fairly well sorted. Thanks!
What an awesome setup! Makes me wanna switch from my 1190 ADV R. How do you keep that $$$$ Akrapovic exhaust protected, I'd hate to drop that bike on the right hand side :)
Ya, the T7 has a low style "Rally" exhaust on it from the factory. The bike is still new and hasn't hit the ground yet My 790 is much better on that it is tucked up high and not so exposed. But... Guess we'll see what happens :)
That bike does sound so good.Hope you take it to some of those big bear sections and let us know how it compares to the KTM. Judging from the video which I may be wrong but it looks like the Tenere bottoms out a lot more. On the first video you did some of those bumps looked like they hurt lol
Well, the 790 did the same thing when it was stock. Luckily, TBT Racing got the suspension in the 790 dialed in... They will be doing the same for the 700 soon Not sure when were heading back to big bear to try that mess again. That was a long hard day LOL
If you wanted a snappier throttle, I wonder if something like the R6 throttle tube will work for this bike. I know it’s a pretty popular mod on the mt 07s
Best RUclips channel, so glad you are making these videos! Between this and the KTM 790 , so far which one do you prefer ? Do you miss the offroad traction control , rbw and riding modes of the KTM when riding the Yamaha?
Thanks Philip. So far, still love my 790 but the 700 is getting better each ride. I don't like any of the aids on my 790 and usually run Rally mode in 1. If all the modes went away id be fine with it
Great job, mate! That is now a capable and solid off roader, with the fairly easy mods you have done, which is impressive bearing in mind it's original design ADV compromise for street and trail. I think the braided brake lines are a good idea, and will make another noticeable difference. Are you still intending to beef that front suspension some?
Ya, it was a whole new bike. While the suspension is much better I still want more from it. I will be sending it to TBT to get valved and respeung soon. I want to see what these stock forks and shock can do before moving to SSS Suspension
@@EverySingleSunday Please be sure to distinquish between single track preference and fire roads. In the event you have a different opinion for each. THX Great video!!
Seeing the speedo at 0 durring the intro I though yes, finally someone put a switch inline with the abs fuse. You want the abs to stay off when you turn it off, no fuse no abs
Howdy there, I've been so excited about this bike coming to the states for a long time; however, I am definitely concerned about the seat height, as I am pretty short (5'5"ish). I haven't found a T7 in stock in town so far so haven't been able to actually sit one just yet. The Tenere 700 is definitely on the taller side in the adventure market. What are your thoughts on the seat height feel, as I know it is a pretty narrow bike and so it may not be as bad as if if was a more traditional adventure bike. I am currently riding a TW200 with is pretty low as far as seat height is concerned, and I also have an 1973 rd350, which has a super low seat height... I am needing my next bike to be more of an adventurer, and I would prefer to stay in the Yamaha fam. Thanks for the videos!
@@MrAlexMoto Word, thank you ... I see with a lower seat and lowering link, you can get it down about an inch or so. I'm still concerned with it being about 150lbs heavier than what I am used to, as well as taller. I guess I just need to figure out how to ride one before I make any decisions.
Crimeny Man that T700 is not your 300. Bet there was a lotta smiles at the end. What a handler with the mods considering what it is. Still considering one but even more now. Rider helps a bunch so there is that mod too consider. You should strap some luggage on her and then giver her a rip through that terrain for a real deep review. Whoops are Hell on any ADV bike. The T7 does alright though! My 300 XC would not be so great on the highway - LOL Current goal is to keep my Super Tenere for long distance touring, get a T7 for day rides and exploring, and keep my 300 XC for my dirt bike needs. Sounds perfect... I see your KTM 2T at the end of the video. Looks like great minds think rather alike perhaps :)
A 300 is the best bike ever built. I'm enjoying playing around with the bigger bikes as well these days. I have my KTM 790 dialed in pretty well. It can't charge whoops, but it's is pretty amazing
@@EverySingleSunday 300s are awesome indeed. I have an '18 XC with a Lectron and an S3 head on it. Love that bike - counterbalanced smooth goodness, an e-start that actually works (which is key in the precarious situations shown in your 300 in gnarly terrain videos - LOL), grunts down low and rips on top. Had a '13 300 before, the '18 is much better as I can rev in the open bits without my hands going numb. . Your 790 sounds fantastic. These "mid size" ADV bikes are Goldilocks machines in my opinion. Beefy enough to travel on the open road, but manageable enough to go off road where monster ADV bikes would not dare to unless they are borrowed and ridden by a pro who does not care about all the stuff that is gonna break when they are ridden like that. These mid size ADVs are great bikes for Colorado where I live, as we have tons of forest service roads (some quite rocky and rough, needing a lifted bigger tire equipped 4x4 to traverse) everywhere to explore.
Love that 0 on the speedo 😁 Speedometer deconcentrate me off road.. i start remembering at what speed i was going trough some bends on the track and stop driving by feeling only.. i mean who needs that shit on a dirt bike
So are you trying to turn this T7 into a single-track trail bike? We can all agree that the T7 can do serious off-roading, but do people really want to use this as a trail bike? It's awfully heavy at 470 lbs to do this every weekend. My buddy and I just completed a 700 miles two days road trip hugging the coast of California. He was riding the 600 lbs BMW GS while I was riding the 790 Duke. I see the T7 to replace my Duke for trips like this where it's mostly pavement but we will do some offroading. Not black diamond trails but easy to medium trails. While my Duke lacks the off-road chops, his GS is way too porky for any offroading. Hence, the T7 fits exactly in between a GS and an enduro bike. It's comfortable enough to do 80MPH on the highway but has enough chops to do off-roading.
No, not trying to turn it into a Trailbike. But if I'm out and about I like to know what the limits are if the bike I'm riding vs trying something and being stuck in an unfamiliar area. Planning in doing this all the time, no... But it sure is fun

I know there are companies out there that make something like that that fold them onto the handlebar clamp and move them out a bit
Excellent riding , beautiful scenery .... Bike seems to be precise enough and flickable for it's weight and size.... on that narrow track.
Thanks for posting - looking forward for next test : climbing .....
It's been amazing so far. Absolutely loving this bike
@@EverySingleSunday What I think about it - the best think on it is it's reliability. It will never let you down........ it's a workhorse .
Everything else can be improved ....
@@EverySingleSunday Indeed!! Are you running a PC V ?
Or you can get good ol lc8 for less than half the price of 790, its still THE adventure bike, with the most of character
You are a amazing rider and T7 is awesome
Thank you. Yes, the T7 is absolutely amazing
Badass!!! Loving the T7! 😎👍🏼👍🏼
Love it!! Say - What did you do to keep TC turned off - I saw you turn it off in the beginning then - it just stays off? What did you find out? It does Sound Awesome! I like the Sound of the KTM too..
I had the front wheel on backwards. So the ABS ring didn't contact the magnet. so it stayed off the whole time... but no speedo either
Love that setup! Well done 👍🏻
Thanks. It's been an epic start to the bike. Much better than from the factory
Those are things I have done to my 790 as well to fit me
Every Single Sunday that’s really great to know, thanks!
I put the front wheel on backwards... so no speed and the ABS was disabled te whole time. Easy fix
Crashing is part of the game. Glad to hear you're okay and the bike didn't get beat up too bad
You're a braver guy than me taking a big bike thru there 😀
Loved the review and riding. Thanks man.
Glad you enjoyed it! WE have tons of great videos if you're looking for more to watch
T7 for slow stuff, 790 for Faster stuff
I'll have a full comparison video up in the next couple weeks
Love all of your mods, except for the low handle bar stance. You got me wanting one of these bikes, really bad. Question, do they make a tubeless liner for the rims on this bike?
Stock bars are way too high if you plan on riding the bike aggressively. if you just want to stand up on the freeway then I guess they are fine
not sure about setting up the stock wheels tubeless. They are too wide for off-road use so I plan on replacing them
If you haven't ridden one... You can't imagine how high the bats are, it's CRAZY
Great video! Thank you. Did you have to remap the ECU at all for the muffler?
He will do it for sure once header pipes are changed and they got rid of catalytic converter.....No point doing it before...
Exactly what Istra is saying. It doesn't need it for a slip in but we plan I. Doing it once we get the complete system.
Interesting. The US bikes seem to have a different red..a little bit more burgundy. The european ones are bright red.
Interesting. Our bikes are definitely are a darker red.... Nothing like a Honda red
Not sure which I would prefer
Did you disable ABS lights holy glow orange Right side bottom near the disable button
Have to reset ignition or at least stop to disengage
This should help fix the rear break issue as abs disengages it and feels like it doesn’t work at all
I accidentally put the front wheel on backwards. ABS is disabled front and rear due that the entire video
Brakes feel like crap on this bike due to rubber lines (and a bent break pedal)
I'll definitely brake that into consideration and see what I can do
Thanks
I put the front wheel in backwards on accident.
Travis, we’re hearing about the dash bobble. Is that really an issue? Thoughts?
It's annoying
And the headlights bobble along with it.
I really liked having the Camel brace on mine.
Engine sounds great. 270 crank?
Im not too sure, but it does sound amazing
I might have missed it but what bar bend are you running? I agree that factory bars are too high but also don’t want interference with tank and fairing. Also, what size is that rear 908rr? I used to run the 908rr on my 950Super Enduro. Great tire. Enjoyed the video 🤙🏼
ProTaper "Steering Damper Low"
No interference at all.... But it's close
I'm running a 140/80 in the back.
Not the best for the stock wheel, but works fine. Would prefer the shape on a 2.5" wheel
Nice bike, mods, riding area, footage and great riding skills to boot. Did you disconnect the speedometer? Mirrors look pretty trick.
I accidentally put the front wheel on backwards this day. It's fixed now
I got a Dunlop 908 rr for my KTM solely based on your opinion of them.
More than enough ground clearance for what most people will be using it for. I did hit a few rocks that day but would have done the same on any bike
Dashboard doesn't move around anymore, what did u do to stick it in one place? Looks awesome anyway

Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the bike really woke up a ton with a few small mods
When will more be available in the states? I am in NC and not getting much info from my local dealer?
I wish IO had an answer for that. I bought this one used with 127 miles on it and the one I ordered still hasn't shown up yet
@@EverySingleSunday ok thanks for the reply! I will just get a used KTM 1190 to tie me over :-)
@every single sunday is the AXP plate aluminium?
No, it's a super strong plastic. I'm not a fan of aluminum skid plates
Would be cool to get total cost of add ons and bike. Prob still waaaay cheaper than AT, Tiger 900 etc..
My 790 hit the ground five times yesterday and the 700 hit the ground three times yesterday
We were both able to pick our own bikes up each time
Just come down to the person riding it
@@EverySingleSunday in the example you just cited your friend come and help you so there are two of you.
Thanks!
I like the idea. Ill do my best to keep tabs on everything and see where it all falls.
The bike is still new and hasn't hit the ground yet
My 790 is much better on that it is tucked up high and not so exposed.
But... Guess we'll see what happens :)
Imo lower mounted.can is way better... If you fall on right side youre can will hit ground no matter how.high.itd mounted and lower mount = lower cog
They will be doing the same for the 700 soon
Not sure when were heading back to big bear to try that mess again. That was a long hard day LOL
Nice video !
I’m gonna need this machine for some on and off-road adventures 👍
Go for it! BUY ONE
If you wanted a snappier throttle, I wonder if something like the R6 throttle tube will work for this bike. I know it’s a pretty popular mod on the mt 07s
My buddy was mentioning that. I plan on looking into it for sure. Tis video was also shot at almost 9,000 feet so it was feeling a bit down on power.
If all the modes went away id be fine with it
Nice, Sounds like a Vtwin.
270 degree firing order👍
It's a parallel twin... But she sure does rip
Can’t wait to ride this bike!!!
I'll get it ready for you ,
Which bike do you prefer for single track, your 790 or the Ten?
Still need more time to dial in the T700 to give it a fair assessment.
I'll be doing a review video soon
@@EverySingleSunday Please be sure to distinquish between single track preference and fire roads. In the event you have a different opinion for each. THX Great video!!
How comfortable is the seat? Can you ride it all day or will my 54 year old a$$ be sore by lunch? And please no suggestions “just stand more...”. TIA.
I'm used to bike seats so it's not bad. Some guys say it's hard.
If you want a nice seat, look into Seat Concepts for a good seat. They are the best
Not sure if I’ve missed it somewhere but do you have a list of the mods done to this bike?
I talked about them all at the start of the video
Seeing the speedo at 0 durring the intro I though yes, finally someone put a switch inline with the abs fuse. You want the abs to stay off when you turn it off, no fuse no abs
I just put the wheel on backwards in accident 😆
You may have already answered, why did you switch? If smaller lighter, why not the 690?
probably got sick of fixing them all the time
Because I like twins and nobody rides them offroad.
Where is this trail? Looks fun. Great video
Kennedy Meadows, California
Howdy there,
I've been so excited about this bike coming to the states for a long time; however, I am definitely concerned about the seat height, as I am pretty short (5'5"ish).
The 790 is taller. You can lower T7.
Definitely going to feel a bit tall if you're 5'5.... But you can make it work.
Like you said above, seat and some boots and you'll be fine
Yourll be fine regardless of height. I was flat footed for years find it much easier on tip toes. Get a test ride booked 👍🏻
Good Yammi went with the MT07 and not the MT09 as it would be too much.
If it was the 300, we would be off trail jumping logs and rocks :)
This bike is amazing
Does that plastic skid plate protect it well enough?

@@EverySingleSunday Oof, I lost my gear linkage on a log on my Triumph Street Triple, they are very unforgiving haha, hope you weren't thrown off?
Not this time. But I smashed my foot last month in Idaho hard enough to brusie my foot (Sidi MX Boots) and throw me over the bars. That one hurt

The GPS I run is a Trail Tech Voyager pro. I got mine from bikebandit.com but you can also pick them up all over the place

It's really good for a Rally tire. But it doesn't compare to a knobby in slow loose dirt.
Awesome bike and awesome video! Now would you rather have ridden that bike over the 790 at the big bear event?
At this point, still the 790. The T7 is good but I don't know it well enough yet. Hopefully over the next few weeks I can make a better assessment
Every Single Sunday That’s really important as well off course. Do they feel similar in terms of handling?
I need to ride them back to back still. There is definitely a different feel but a lot of that is in brakes and controls
Great video. Hey Mikey, it's time to start modifying your Tenere!
Tell him to tear it down and build it up!!!!
Bars too high? Don't hear that much on most bikes. 👍 Good video. You should time a lap on the Ténéré vs 790R on same course. 😂
Yep, crazy high. On a steep hill you can hardly hold on because they throw you back so far
well to be honest ,, it makes it look hard work ..... you seem to have to spend heaps on a bike to make it work ,, ill keep riding my 2011 ktm 250exc 2 banger .... lol thanks for sharing ,cheers steve from Australia
Spending heaps?
Tires, bars, pegs?
This is something I change on any bike I buy.
Whoops are Hell on any ADV bike. The T7 does alright though! My 300 XC would not be so great on the highway - LOL
Current goal is to keep my Super Tenere for long distance touring, get a T7 for day rides and exploring, and keep my 300 XC for my dirt bike needs.
You nailed it !
Love that 0 on the speedo 😁
Speedometer deconcentrate me off road.. i start remembering at what speed i was going trough some bends on the track and stop driving by feeling only.. i mean who needs that shit on a dirt bike

But it sure is fun
what hand guards you running ?
They are Cycra Pro bend. But I got an adapter from Rottweiler Performance that moved it out a bit
