- Our 100th episode and Trick or Trash finale Spooktacular! Ernest P. Worrell just has to pick the one tree in the Dark Forest™ that’s imprisoning an evil troll to build a hangout for the neighborhood kids. Ignoring the advice of the town witch, Eartha Kitt, Ernest unintentionally awakens the dormant troll, Trantor, releasing it to once again wreak Halloween Havoc® on the sleepy Missouri suburb of Briarville. Trantor starts turning the town’s pre-teens into tiny wooden dolls to power his Boo Berry infested Tree of Might that will breed him an army of trolls. Not even our main kid characters Kenny, Elizabeth, or Joey are safe! Now, with a little help from his dog Rimshot, Ernest must follow in the footsteps of his ancestor and take down Trantor before midnight on Halloween! We’ve got special guest Pissi Myles from My Spooky Gay Family joining us and we’re talking all things Ernest. We’re also talking about which MDU characters we would fuse, our first experiences with Ernest, and potential Ernest sequels we wish existed. So stock up on chocolate milk and Hostess cupcakes, pick the perfect place to build your high ground fort, and crack that authentic Bulgarian Miak, because all this talk about trolls is gonna leave Ernest Scared Stupid, know what we mean?

I loved Ernest as a kid. Ernest goes to Camp and Ernest Saves Christmas were my favorites until, in third grade I went to see Ernest Scared Stupid in the theater with my best friend Joel. What a great memory. Love this movie.

I could have sworn Jim Varney made a very somber anti-smoking PSA that was released after his death. I found his goofy Ernest anti-smoking public service announcement but I couldn’t find the serious one on RUclips anyway.

I must have watched the VHS of earnest goes to jail like a million times when i was 4 lol, i used to wake up every day and put that shit on repeat, definitely my first Earnest movie was “goes to jail”

This is my favorite movie of all time, I am so glad I have gone back through your old videos/podcasts!
Somewhere between '93 - '95 Family Channel ( Canada's weak attempt at a Disney Channel) had a 31 days of Ernest Scared Stupid marathon on Halloween. Every day it would aired once a day until Halloween night when it played twice. I watched it 30 times leading to Halloween, watched half of the movie before trick or treating and when I came back, the second airing was right where I left off so I finished it. It was a good year.
PS. The SOB Rob Ford that was talked about was the mayor of Toronto ( my neighboring city thank goodness) and his drug of choice was crack.
P.S.S. I really want an Ernest vs The Evil Dead movie badly now!

Ernest Vs. Critters would be hysterical like an 80/90s Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein. Maybe have it set as a prequel to Critters 3 with Charlie hunting down the remaining krites and both Charlie and the critters cross Ernest's path. I could just imagine Ernest and Charlie working together with Charlie acting as the straight man to Ernest. Maybe have the famous Worrell Twist with Ernest knocking a krite with a baseball bat?

Honestly i would have liked to see Jim Varney as Kraven the Hunter, but played completely serious: vicious, insane and with a weird sense of "honour". He would have given the role so freaking much..
He could have honestly killed it, Jim was such an underrated actor. Would have loved to see it!
Laughed my ass off with this video of yours. I love this movie so much but, quick story, here in Portugal where I'm from, the movie was released under the title "Ernest Ghostbuster", so as a kid I first assumed it was part of the "Ghostbusters" franchise and I was really confused the first time I rented it from the local video store.

I really like this movie also really like Ernest goes to Jail and Saves Christmas. Even the weaker Ernest flicks I can't hate because I grew up with the movies. Jim Varney was really good in the Beverly Hillbillies movie as well. That's one that got bad reviews but I never hated it because I never growed up with the show.
This movie is candy corn. But I love candy corn, it’s the best vegetable. I like this movie better than Hocus Pocus
I really don't know why and maybe it's just because the one I grew up watching again and again but anytime I think Ernest I think Ernest goes to camp and maybe it's the shittiest Earnest movie of all I don't really know but that's the one that I always think of anytime I hear Jim varney's name or voice
Ernest Goes to Camp was my first Ernest movie, so I enjoy it a lot too. Granted, Jail and Scared Stupid are probably the best two in the series. Even Saves Christmas isn't great, but I've watched it more times than I would like to admit haha. -Sean
So I'm about 2 years late on this haha lol but...couple fast things here ...I do absolutely agree it would be horrible cause I do not enjoy French Stewart in anyway I loved 3rd rock from the sun but he was annoying but I could absolutely see French Stewart casts as Ernest in a movie....I just mean from a physical perspective absolutely NOT from a talent level perspective I wanna be mad that Sean said that lol....but I don't feel like he is incorrect lol but let's be glad that Trainwreck will never happen..lol but I heard the pushback by Joe on this and felt compelled to cast my irrelevant and unimportant opinion 😁 ❤️ and hell I haven't commented on a non TFTD episode
Ernest Saves Christmas is far from the worst one. Ernest Army and Africa are worse. Camp, Stupid, and Christmas are better than the later movies. I had hoped for a revival but without Varney you can't pull it off. Jim Carey could almost do Ernest.
Ernest Goes to Africa is an exercise in futility! We'v gotta review Jail at some point, it's so good. -Sean
Most people would say avoid any Pink Panther films without a then-living Peter Sellers. I have seen many (including Son of Pink Panther). But I would put Inspector Clouseau w/Alan Arkin and The Pink Panther w/Steve Martin in my top 6. In terms of just funny, I would put them first or second.
Funny enough rewatching this the Oscar story mentioned is sad in hindsight with the reveal after her death by her family that she wasn't Native American but half Hispanic and half White, and that the John Wayne story itself was fake as well...oh well

Either way don't want to piss off one of my favorite podcasts so I'll leave it at that.
