Los Angeles is enduring a heat wave and a crime wave. LAPD lieutenant Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) and his cocky detective partner Jerry Lambert (Bill Paxton) soon realize that what seemed a bloody feud between voodoo high priest King Willie's (Calvin Lockhart) Jamaican gangs and Ramon Vega's (Corey Rand) Colombian drug gang is actually the work of an alien third party. Harrigan thinks the culprit can be found among the warring gangs and drug cartels, but FBI Special Agent Peter Keyes (Gary Busey) knows the horrible truth: Their killer is a fearsome extraterrestrial (Kevin Peter Hall) with keen hunting abilities that include superior night vision and the power to make itself invisible. Also starring María Conchita Alonso, Rubén Blades, Robert Davi, Morton Downey Jr., and Henry Kingi.

Predator 2 is so great. I love the first 2 movies but Predator 2 was criminally underrated
The shootout scene with the Jamaicans always struck me as an example of two things.
1. They don’t know how many enemies are in the room, because the Predator is able to confuse them of it’s location.
2. They are PANICKING, and they’re stoned. You ever smoke a big fat J and then have someone start shooting at you? You’d probably panic too, and I’d bet you’d shoot in the wrong direction as well.
Yeah those are all really good points. I'm sure they were smoking some OG Purple kush or something haha! And yeah on top of that they are getting taken out by an invisible enemy, I would be freaking out too. -Sean
@@MovieDumpster Thsts a good name by the way, I spell mine the same. Sean’s unite!
freaking love Predator 2, it's like if the Predator got put in a "Cobra" style action movie. Danny Glover was a badass, he had to deal with a gang war, Gary Busey and the Hunter. plus he gained warrior's respect from the other hunters after whooping the Hunter in front of his boys, Dutch had to "Home Alone" the thing to death 😂
@@VectorOfKnowledge I'd watch it 😆
Most people couldn't even handle a *friendly* gary busey
@@robertlogan5354 the werewolf in "Silver Bullet" wasn't the only creature with gnarly teeth in that film, Gary was scarier than that Werewolf 😆
they didnt talk about danny glover saying ""which one of u motherfuc*ers is next?"" when multiple predators confont him at the end after he kills the predator... i love that shiv
I like predator 2 because it's like predator in the robocop universe.
I like Gary Busey, he's a very underrated actor, that method acting behind the scenes thing was awesome.
WAS an underrated actor....He was never the same after the brain surgery that is why he is how he currently is now. But his motorcycle accident is the reason why California has a helmet law
Without Warning is so good 😂 Predator 2 needed Jack Palance to come out of nowhere yelling “Aliennnnn! Allieeennnnn!” 😂😂
I love that movie.
The novelization has great stuff told from the Predator's point of view for fun insight. Best bit is summing up how them tossing Hartigan the old pistol can be one of two things: Is it a show of respect by sharing the trophy of a worthy foe...or is it them telling humanity "you see this archaic piece of weaponry? This is what you are to us. Remember that."
We've gotta hook up with our buddy C.B. Smith at some point at cover it on a Book to the Movie episode, it sounds great!
Is there an audiobook?
I like that ladder cuz it's basically the predators plopping their dicks on the table lol. The respect thing is of course cool, but the Giga Chad energy from the ladder perspective is just too awesome and shouldn't go unappreciated lol.
Said it before & I'll say it again, Predator 2 is a sequel that was done right. Does it have flaws? Sure, but it also respected what came before in the original, expanded on the lore and weapons of the Predator just enough, we saw a lot more of the Predator, Kevin Peter Hall (RIP) played City Hunter differently from Jungle Hunter to give him his own distinction, great cast, very well done action scenes, awesome setting having it take place in the city, cool take having it be a detective story, etc. It wasn't just a retread of the original and expanded on and or changed on the important aspects to make it just that. Director Stephen Hopkins did a very solid job with it, especially when you take into account he had to work on Nightmare On Elm Street 5 The Dream Child (during a writer's strike mind you) and Predator 2 at the same time for a certain amount of time which is insane. While the original is still tops (for me personally) Predator 2 is awesome and is still the best sequel in the franchise.
The predator's vision was fine, it looked like the mask because the mask filters out the ambient heat. They were in a freezer where there was no ambient heat. Once he went outside his vision was back to red. It's BECAUSE they paid so close attention to detail that you thought it was a mistake.
Your official No-Prize is in the mail, sir! 😄
I used to have this same gripe when i first saw it but its easy to forget its cold in there.
Now...what about the little medical kit that has a white light to illuminate the contents for a creature who sees in a entirely different spectrum. That always bothered me.
Thank you!! Also hence why in Predator 1 when it takes off the mask everything is red because the jungle is hot as shit
These guys...
@@jsb1944 that might have been for shooting purposes?
One of my favorite shots from the first movie is the predator selfdestructing, and literally being reborn as Kevin Peter Hall, the helicopter pilot.
One could say that the Predator ascended?!
I dont understand how this channel is not 4x its size. Quality is always on point
Thank you so much, we appreciate that a lot!! 🙌💚📼
This was the first film to recieve the NC 17 rating due to the strong graphic violence that was films but cut from the movie which includes more decapitations and skins getting ripped off as well as Jerry Lambert, Bill Paxton, having his spine ripped out in a close up shot ( This scene is available in the comic book adaptation.)
Here's a list of other deleted scenes that were scripted, filmed or cut-
S: Harrigan learns that El Scorpio's body has disappeared from the morgue, taken by Keyes men for investigation.
S: Harrigan chases the Predator from the subway, as it jumps from rooftop to rooftop. It's rumored that VFX for scene was filmed.
S: Ramon Vega does not have his heart ripped out but survived and the Jaimacans end up getting killed by the Predator in a warehouse. Vega goes into shock.
D: Ramon's girlfriend is interrogated by Keyes men and tell them that it was a demon from hell that kills the Jamaicans.
D: Anna, the survivor of the first film, tells Keyes men that the creature stalked and killed Dutch's men, as if though it was a game.
S: The Predator aka City Hunter, follows Harrigan through the streets and walks into a taxidermist shop where a jogger sees the Predator decloak, the jogger walks into the shop, but the Predator cloaks, then a moment later, the City Hunter leaves the shop.
S: King Willie uses a gold plated Uzi as he sees the silouhette of the Predator coming towards him. The City Hunter jumps from fire escape to fire escape. After running out of ammo, he discards the Uzi and uses a sword as his secondary weapon. "You can't see the eyes of the demon." says the City Hunter imitating King Willie.
S: The Predator, City Hunter, follows Jerry and Leona into the Subway where he jumps on the back of a train explaining how he was able to ambush the passengers.
S: Keyes explains to Harrigan that Dutch escaped from an army hospital, disappeared into the jungle and hasn't been seen since.
S: Rather than Harrigan killing the City Hunter, it was the Alpha Male Predator, Greyback would decapitate the City Hunter. He gives Harrigan the Flintlock pistol and Harrigan escapes before the ship flies off into the night.
Love those Gary Busey impressions!😂
Adam Baldwin was so disappointed he didn't get the tech in this movie that he transferred over to area 51 to get their tech in Independence Day
He channeled all of his rage into shooting that Pepsi can off the alien craft!
@@MovieDumpster Probably transfered too much of that Baldwin rage so that the can would start dancing too Puttin on the Ritz under the ship.
I've waiting patiently for the notification when you guys would review Predator 2 with Tony
It's finally here! Thanks for your patience!
@@MovieDumpster NP its nice to see y'all reviewing Predator 2, even though Tony didn't invite you to review Predator 😢. I guess probably y'all weren't able to or Tony forgot or something happened, but I wouldn't want to miss it.
Loving all this Predator content from Movie Dumpster and HACK the Movies. Doing great stuff.
Thanks for watching! 🙏💚📼
Funny enough that guy playing Scorpio is in the first Predator as one of the guerrillas that gets blown up real good and he was in Batman Returns as the mugger whom Catwoman plays tic tac toe on his face.
Yup, Henry Kingi! He's legendary on our show, one of the all-time great stuntmen!
In the early days of the internet I was on some forum and read about a script that was going around of a Samurai who killed a Predator and became immortal I think by drinking the Predators blood. The other Predators knew of the samurai and every few decades a new Predator would challenge the samurai to one on one combat over hundreds of years.
Too bad, predator, Ronin would be awesome
I work in fine dining. And we've been hiding a dvd of Predator 2 behind our high end liquors on the bar so that inevitably someone has to find it and/or take it home/throw it away and make enemies of the rest of the team.
"For relaxing times, make it Predator 2 time."
I hope somebody finds it and is inspired to hide another underrated gem DVD ('Strange Days', maybe?) somewhere else around your workplace.
I discovered P2 in pretty much the same way Tony did. I already had P1 on VHS and when I was around 6-7 y/o in the late 90's a rental store opened in the small European farm town I grew up in. I vividly remember seeing the cover in a binder (they put the VHS covers in binders to save space) and saying out loud to the guy behind the counter "omg predator has a sequel? I HAVE TO WATCH THIS!"
And just like Tony I wasn't to keen of it back then but it definitely grew on me.
So I couldn't sleep last night after watching this, and ended up watching the full movie at 3am for the first time in at least 20 years. JESUS. I forgot how god damn violent, and excessive, and just wild this movie is. You guys are absolutely right when you talk about it being the hardest R we had seen up to that point, other than like maybe, MAYBE robocop 2. I'm gonna go on record right now and say as much as I fucking love the original to death, man, idk, 2 is just SO fucking over the top and dirty and grimey and violent that it might be the best of the entire series. You guys absolutely nailed it out of the fucking park with this review.
As a kid I didn't know there was a predator 2 till one day we were at a yard sale, and I was going through the vhs boxes and there was predator 2, I asked my dad there was a number 2 he said hell yeah, the old guy from the yard sale said you've never seen it I said no, he said it's yours 50 cents lmfao greatest 50 cents I ever spent!!!! Love this movie!!!
Money well spent! 😂
The contest "What came first?" Aliens vs. Predator (1989 short story), meanwhile the movie was also filmed in 1989.
However, the comic came in early Januari 1989 and they didn't add the Xeno skull in Predator 2 movie until they had to film that scene.
Predator 2 is my favorite movie, the City Hunter was amazing.
The final scene with the Lost Tribe is so epic.
This has to be my new favorite episode! You guys KILLED it! 👏🏼👏🏼
This movie was my first rated R movie my Mom let me watch when I was a kid when this movie came out lol. I love this movie. Glad to see Tony on the show too
That's a scary first rated R movie to see. Predator 2 to this day is pretty gruesome.
I remember this movie catching a lot of flack since it had such a different locale and arnold wasn't in it. I always liked it thoug. The sound of bathroom tile breaking is still oddly satisfying to me lol.
I know ppl didn't like it that much, tbh I liked this one more because Predator has new different weapons and there were more than one Predator and they gave their ship an actual look and feel of futuristic tech.
@@JesusRodriguez-ib8hn I feel the same. It added to the lore of the world. Idk if its as iconic, but that's mainly because the first one had such an iconic cast. It's still the one I'd rather watch though. The first one was always on tv when I was growing up so the 2nd feels less less overplayed.
I'm down w/ Predator 2. No jungle, no Arnold, not even a single governor, but it's still pretty sweet.
The interior of the ship in 2 is amazing. Definitely agreed that in AVP and beyond it’s unbelievably stupid to make the ship interiors shiny. It makes sense for it to look the way it does in 2
Even in the comics where they depict ships more like the first movie, there’s a lot of exposed pipes and catwalk type floors, they never really went the shiny refined route like the movies ended up doing.
Predator 2 is my favorite too. I remember catching the very end of Predator 1 on TV when I was a kid and then Predator 2 starts. I loved every freaking second. Also no censorship mostly other than some nudity in the TV version, because here in Mexico they didn't really give a fuck about violence and gore on TV.
Predator 2 and the Sega video game scared the absolute crap outa me as a kid. I also feel that the design for “Ghost” aka The City Hunter is the best predator design to date.
As much as I love the OG, part 2 is probably my favorite out of the series.
1. I was 7 when my dad took me to see this. Also my first time seeing a naked woman, and even better it was on a giant movie screen.
2. I love the way they expand on the Predator lore. More weapons, the face design of this one, the ships interior, a clan of predators and most of all the Xenomorph skull. Just like the 3 of u, I could drone on for hours about this film.
My father drove us over the downtown LA bridge and pointed out the tunnel Danny Glover walks out of, which was just to the opposite side of us. I was last down there maybe 5yrs ago and it's still there. That was also the same filming location for Robert Patrick's arrival in T2 and the scene in True Lies with Jamie Lee and Bill Paxton.
You get a 'like' from me for your discovery of human Bebop getting arrested in the LA Police Precinct.
I wish I could leave a bonus 'like' for every time I laughed watching this discussion, you guys are so funny together!
I absolutely do not understand the people who say they don't like this movie. I don't trust them. I don't think it's quite as good as the first but it is still an awesome movie and that alien skull Easter egg just makes it perfect.
Its okay to not like it, but it feels like a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon just because Arnold wasn't in it.
Saw this as a little kid when it was 1st on HBO at the neighbor's house. Years before I saw the original and I still love it
Yoooo! I recently watched this and I absolutely love the 2nd one. Glad I got to come into a live one with you guys
1:49:26 When Gary Busey gets cut in half, I believe it is implied his head gets stuck on one of the meat hooks and his upper half remains suspended in the air
Could totally see that happening, would have loved an angle of that in the actual movie!
I spotted Dark Tower on a used shelf cheap and thought, "oh yeah, that's a thing I never saw" and left it behind in favor of rewatching something I love already.
I can't believe you managed to get the world famous Tony from batman the dark knight rises.
BEST PREDATOR SEQUEL EVER!!!!
The fact that people say that predators and prey is better than this movie is baffling
I think I gotta agree with Joe this is my favorite predator movie aswell and me my dad and my brother used to say the "want some candy "line to each other all the time. Awesome review Joe Sean and Tony keep up the awesome work Movie Dumpster 👍

laughed so hard!!
f ing hell, Godamn right no one stands a chance against Patrick Swayze!
same goes for Chuck Norris..
thanks, had a hard day.
much love
Predator vision.....in pred1 when the mask is off he's seeing all the ambient heat hence everything is red. In pred2 the vision has the blue from the cold of all the buildings etc. But, in pred2 once the mask is off his vision is also blurring and the images drag. The mask enhances their vision I'm guessing

I've watched this at least 6 times all the way through. This is a great review. Joe clearly loves the Predator series and it shows. Tony doing his thing and Shawn's enthusiasm all on display. This is as entertaining as the movie itself somehow. Keep up with those Talks from the Darkside. That's a fun series. Chris Barr is great on their. Thanks for everything. Probably watch this another 10 times. 😂
Thanks so much for watching and we’re glad you’re enjoying the content! 🙏💚📼
I’m with Sean, haven’t seen this all the way through in years. I’ll have to re-watch it. Great episode guys.
Here’s my beef with movie dumpster, I’ll listen to the new episodes at work and the movie being talked about gets stuck in my head, and by the time I get home I have to watch the movie!!
Not a bad problem to have! 😉
Predator 2 is so amazing. I think I've seen it more than Predator 1 even
I'm so happy people are finally coming out to say how great this movie is. It and Robocop 2 are very worthy sequels to thier original and those who don't like them... need to give them another try.
A respectful and fantastic world building adventure I always love to watch directly after the first. I remember having my mother re-watch the movie in 2021 as she had the same perspective many did back in the 90's "oh well Arnold isn't in it so I'm not watching" now she loves the movie.
My little brother who is a major Schwarzenegger fan like me (even more actually) was nervous about it because he wasn't back... it's now his personal favorite Predator movie.
I really appreciate the work put into the film and so thankful it's getting love. Excellent video like your others, I love listening to you fellas
Thanks for watching! 🙏💚📼
Thank god for this 2 and half hour predator 2 review. 🙌
Predator 2 is my favorite and the best one. The characters in this one feel like real people, not hulked-out GI Joes. There's more Yautja lore added, and the action is top knotch. Love it.
Thomas Rosales Jr was also the guy working the coffee stand in Speed. He tells Jack he forgot his muffin then the bus explodes behind them
Oh man that’s right! The dude is in everyyyything.
The predator eating the skin of the people he kills and hangs should be canon.
He likes his skin extra crunchy style.
I was always more familiar with Predator 2 than the first one ever since I was a kid, as we had it on a VHS in my household. I was a bit surprised years later when I discovered that a lot of people genuinely dislike the film and it's even considered a "shit sequel". I've heard the same story from many people who like the second one.
These days it seems that the film is getting a lot more respect and quite a lot of people have said that they prefer it to the first one. Honestly, so do I.
The first Predator film is more of an "Arnold movie" to me while the sequel really focuses more on the sci-fi aspects of the Predator itself and how it operates. At times the film feels a lot more like a comic book than the first one and some of the comedic moments aren't that great, but I still prefer it.
The line that I always got about this Predator was that he was younger, and more flamboyant. Predator is my absolute favorite movie of ALL TIME, and Predator 2 is more than a worthy sequel. I watch it yearly, and never find myself disliking anything about it...except those close up animatronics
I was born during the LA Riots.. My parents & grandparents drank Mint Juleps and watched the Kentucky Derby in the hospital room the day after I was born.
When he drops down the shaft and after the ship takes off at the end you see that it's in like an abandoned subway tunnel when Harrigan walks out. So don't worry all, the building did not collapse when they left. Lol
It should have 😂
I couldn’t agree with you guys more. This one is my favorite predator sequel!
FINAL FUN FACT: In the comics, the anthology title DARK HORSE PRESENTS features the publisher's first stories for ALIEN, PREDATOR, ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, STAR WARS, SIN CITY & countless other IP. AvP in DHP predates PREDATOR 2.
25k views already you guys deserve all of it and so much more congratulations
Thank you so much! It's kind of shocking to us even, we're just glad people are finding the episode and really enjoying it! We really appreciate all the support! 💚📼
great episode guys keep up the great work
Any movie with characters like Escorpio and King Willie is awesome.
"Tell me why, Babylon, Mr Policeman."
There’s a gremlins vs alien comic. Tony is always a great guest! Predators I think is my favourite sequel. Appreciate how you guys are always so optimistic about the movies people sleep on
Love the lighting in your videos. Great review.
Thanks for watching! 🙏💚📼
Without a treaty led by the Vulcans to pacify various planets, I could see Klingons coming to hunt Earthlings every so often with badcliffs.
That's funny as a kid I never understood what John Hammond was saying right there until I read the subtitles lol
You guys talked about how the Predator could see it's own writing and whatnot, but I've always wondered why their gear, like the medical kit, was designed for creatures that do NOT have giant claws. Look at how awkwardly they have to deal with treating a wound when the kit was clearly designed by a human with stubby little fingers and not awesome talons!
Enjoyable, thorough and referential review. Loved this.
Thanks for watching! We’re glad you enjoyed it! 🙏💚📼
found you from Tony's channel. drinking a rum and coke watching this lol. you have great editing and production/sound! just subbed my friend
Thank you so much! We're glad you're enjoying it!
Love this movie and used to watch it on repeat when I was in middle school. It's so different from the 1st which is why I think I like it so much, throwing the predator in L.A. with the gangs and all that wild shit was cool as hell. Definitely underrated and I'm in that small minority that likes this one better that the 1st.
Yeah my favorite two scenes in the movie are him walking through the puddles of water and when he is up in the duct work going through his different filters and sees their lights. You guys nailed it because when I first watched it as a child it was the first scene that was clear the Predator was thrown off guard. The way he pulls back like wtf 🤣 😄
You guys nailed that one 👏
My guilty pleasure episode of X Files is the Cops crossover episode. I’m gonna rewatch that one after I finish this video.
Oh that episode is one of the best in the series, the fact that its a gimmick episode makes it even better!

Amazing stuff as always fellas I have gotten more used to seeing Joe/Sean on hack the movies only a few times do we get tony on MD lol ❤️
We've gotta spread the love, we have a lot of people lined up to come on so we don't want Tony to steal all the spotlight. Even though he is very famous and important! 😉
Your guy's intro music is amazing!!! Love it!
Thank you!! 🙌💚📼
You guys got me wanting to play predator concrete jungle now.
The predator revealed as Tony was great lol.
What's up with people not liking Predators now? Only in the last few months have I heard anything bad about it. I thought it was just as good as the first 2 movies.
It felt a bit like a rehash of the first, way too many callbacks. The jungle also was very unimpressive. Also if you are going to have it take place on an alien planet... get a decent budget... cause it looked dull. Some of the super predator stuff was decent but the movie is disappointing.
Awesome episode, I keep saying Joe and Tony have to do debates lol. Call it Change Tony's Mind or something lol.
I agree. P2 rocks! Far better than any of the other films that came after it. I hope Prey will be a close third.
Love you guys 😘
This is extremely entertaining!

Joe made a great argument about the Predator vision.
This was the first r rated movie I saw by myself was 14 and cinema world didn't fuck and never asked age so I have a deep connection to this flick. Was with you all the way through the video and feel like I coulda been there bullshitting with you guys about it.Keep up the content!

First time on your channel. Very funny and informative. I was 12 when Predator 2 came out and saw it in a theater with friends. Different time, y'all. Different time. Great movie with a lot more going on than what's on the surface. It threads a needle between social commentary and sincerely delivers on the action. That's a Paul Verhoeven-like tightrope walk you don't see often these days. It's a great sequel.
Thanks for giving us a chance and we’re glad you’re diggin’ it!
@@MovieDumpster Thank you but, also... he's not an actor?
@@MovieDumpster I just realized what it was. He looks a little tiny bit like character actor Curtis Armstrong! But don't get bummed. Wow over 2 hours gonna make my work day go by faster
its prob been picked up in the comments multiple times and it was picked up on in the video , but it is considered in lore that people are skinned when they are deemed either cowards or just not worthy of being taken as a trophy, they are then left as totems as such to instill fear into other people or their prey as it were .
Predator is a great movie. Predator 2 is a great Predator movie
Mike Harrigan is a very underrated character. Its like Murtaugh took a magic pill and became a supercop.

I’m at the part you’re talking about Silvestri. Was watching Judgement Night and it’s straight up unused Predator 2 tracks. Looked into it a bit. Apparently he did really unique score for it.. but studio said it didn’t sound Silvestri enough lol. So just took unused tracks he had. Might be why so much licensed songs too.
Wow that's crazy, wish they could have made it into the movie!
