I like 2 mostly for its meta-narrative about a Robocop sequel.
You have the CEOs not understanding what made the original Robocop work, so they get a new person to come in and make a make a BIGGER and BADDER Robocop and literally call it Robocop 2.
Meanwhile Robocop himself is getting criticised by parents and is forced to be toned down to be child friendly and marketable by a focus group.
ROBOCOP 2 is legit great. It may not be as groundbreaking as the first, but it's a worthy sequel and I will die on that hill.
I like Robocop 2….it’s definitely not as bad as its made out to be
@@JamesJohnson-tr1gu I wouldn't say it's bad at all. The sequence where ROBOCOP becomes useless because he gets reprogrammed to be more PC is a brilliant bit of satire for instance, that's only become more relevant in this age where Jerry Seinfeld of all comedians is somehow considered "too controversial."

Still real to me darn it.
Part 2 was more shocking to me, because of the gangsta-boy plotline. He is like part of the gang, kinda plays with the gangsta chick cause she needs a fix, then he gets forced to watch the torture and killing of that informant. There is always the childish component that breaks through here and there (like at the torture scene when he says to the boss: "You said you were only gonna scare him" - "Doesnt he look scared!?!!!!!!!!" - super intense scene), and then later he dies in robocops arms and you feel like so sorry because he had this violent upbringing, but in the end was just a kid. That alone makes the movie super memorable imo.
Glacier ( Ray Lloyd) is from where my family is from in Georgia..My sister was married to one of Glacier’s cousins for 20 years..i got to meet him several times.

I just realized I've seen Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and i remember absolutely nothing about it!
is it that one that is somehow worse than 1-2 bay?
There's an ape in it and I think everyone almost gets sucked up by a giant vacuum cleaner at the end. That's all I remember lol

Fun fact, 2/3rds of the Crossing Jordans cast consisted of Robocop alumni.
Same could be said about 24 with Robocop one Boddicker played a senator, Emile played Jack’s brother, ray wise played a vice president and Peter weller played jacks mentor
The reboot, and those not good TV movies that have I’ve seen a couple of them on Tubi…I’d rather watch Robocop 3 than those
I didn't even make it halfway into the 3rd one and had to turn it off. It's a big chunk of poopy 💩 .
Fun fact, when they animated The Dark Knight Returns, Peter Weller played Batman

Personal story regarding Robocop 2:
When I was at film school, one of our guest lecturers was Dan Perri - a famous title designer who had worked on The Exorcist, Star Wars and many other classics.
In his fifteen minute showreel, Robocop 2 was nowhere to be found. 😂
But he very graciously signed my Robocop 2 DVD despite his experiences working on the film.
PS: Robocop 3 is easily the worst. At least the remake has plenty of interesting ideas and a great cast to carry them.

Robocop 2 is a hell of a lot better than people give it credit. They kill a kid who is the bad guy!!! I love it and glad it doesn't try to be the first film. It just takes its tone and elements and makes popcorn movie out of it. Fun as hell. Another case and day in the life of Murphy.
Tony I never took him resetting robotically in the beginning of the movie. I saw it more appearing robotic but essentially more of Murphys "cop" mode. He drops it in a nanosecond when he wants to now.
3 is absolutely garbage

I'm glad I wasn't the only one horrified by the same scene of Robocop 2 as a kid. It got so bad that whenever I saw the Orion Films intro I would get scared and change the channel lol

Robocop 3 and the reboot are the worst
Absolutely not! First off NONE of them are worse than Robocop 3 and MGM forcing a PG-13. There is no universe where the 2014 reboot is anything close to resembling bad, awful or garbage. The worst thing about it is that it's toothless and they tried to play too safe with it. Its not some awful abortion like some "special" people pretend it is, if they were going to make it they shouldn't have tried to play it so safe. It just ended up making it generic and alright.

The answer is Robocop 3. It's just bad. At least the reboot has some good performances
Well, the reboot had one good performance with Gary Oldman. He was the only thing worth watching about it.
As much as this Robocop (2014) angered me, I never held it against Joel Kinnaman.

Damn it, I forgot, Bruce Locke who played the Japanese android later played the most screen accurate 90's Shang Tsung on Mortal Kombat: K(C)onquest. It was spelled with a K on syndicated channels like WGN but with a C on channels like TBS and TNT.

I feel your pain on the potential king of the hill revival. Two key voices are dead, ones been replaced, plus it already had a good ending despite the massive dip in quality in later seasons but its cancellation saved it from turning into zombie simpsons. Now its going to be turned into zombie king of the hill if lisa simpson was the head writed

When i was a kid, 3 was awesome, and i got to go see it in the cinema all by myself.
Its only when i got older i realized its crap. So i always look at it with rose tinted glasses.
Robo2 is awesome though.

When you're touching upon robocop's humanity in part 2, I feel like that shines through whenever he's around his partner Anne Lewis as well as a couple other familiar co-workers. But when he's by himself he's in complete robot mode
Robocop vs. Terminator should happen.. but they both die so we get proper reboots.
I actually like RoboCop 2 more than the first film !! Even though I absolutely love the first film !!

RoboCop 2 is a great sequel because it's theme is that RoboCop doesn't need a sequel. They're trying to make a new RoboCop and continually failing, there's a committee trying to make a child friendly RoboCop, RoboCop is essentially gutted in the movie, and a child is one of the lead villains. They even name the antagonist RoboCop 2, a soulless attempt at recreating the original. The entire movie parallels the attempt to make a RoboCop sequel.
The only GD thing redeeming about #3 is that it's so bad, it's good...😅🤷
The car chase in the pimpmobile at least makes me laugh.

Worst part of Robocop 3 is the way they matter-of-factly killed off Lewis.
The robocop remake had only one scene worthwhile to me. And thats when he was shone what was left of his body under the robot suit. That stuck with me because it is genuinely horrifying. What they ruined was the plot, because it wasnt about alex murphy trying to find his humanity, he never lost it in the first place. His family knows exacxtly whats going on, he still sees them, they treat it more like a cop who got disabled and is in therapy for his prosthetics. That misses the entire point, which is why the story has no point or impact.
Here's a bit of useless trivia, in the beginning of RoboCop 3 when the apartment is getting hit by the wrecking ball the guy who plays the father of Nikko is actor John Posey who was the original Danny Tanner in the unaired pilot for Full House before being re-cast with Bob Saget.
RoboCop also saved Pee Wee Herman from ED209 at the '88 academy awards. Fun stuff.
I want Tom to autograph my copy of The Dark Knight Rises.

In Robocop 2, they missed a huge opportunity for him to reconnect with his wife, and for her to recognize him.
Robocop 3 and the recent remake are very bad. Both are very lazily made. The remake has the exact same story as the first.

One of the things that aged the worst in robocop 3 is the fear of japanese corporations taking over. Some producer must have missed the fax about their bubble economy bursting, heck they had to sell back rockefeller center. That thing worked itself out without any outside help, pretty soon theres barely going to be much japanese and at this rate alot of cities there will be the new detroit but mostly old people
The remake was the biggest pile of shit ever. It made me angry in the same way the Predator movie did. I can't say that about many movies. Even no 3, as bad as it is, has some levity, which at least makes it watchable

José Padilha's Elite Squad movies are fantastic, super gritty and ultra violent, so I was actually hyped when I heard he was going to direct the RoboCop remake. Then I found out it was going to be PG-13, and I just knew they were going to screw it up.
The ONLY spoof advert break that works is the "Magnavolt ad in the beginning (probably the best place to put it) in Robocop 2 it at least captured the black comedy tone of the original film, unlike the rest of it.
It was a BIG mistake repeating what had been done in ROBOCOP in the sense of chopping him up, both because its already been done, & it looks visually stupid (the general sfx were less this time also than in the first film, thats obvious) to my eye Robocop looks like...a giant too shiny plastic toy it's not convincing as metal all that much, I'm glad they returned to the original colour in the 3rd film (which to me is an improvement, on the 2nd.
Lex luger was lex Luther on the local superman tv show because he was working in wcw/ Charlotte nc at the time.

Robocop 2 was LEGIT awesome cinema experience & great dark-comedy popcorn flick during movie night with friends. I don't NEED to see another John Wick or Gone with The Wind. Variety is the spice of life! This is why so snooty, film critic bashers screw up feature films.
I was pissed off that they killed Lewis in 3. I saw 2 first than 1. 3 is by far the worst.

Tony what can you say regarding the rumored robocop reboot / batman sequel that would see your blown up stadium character from DKR rebuilt to hunt down the batman?
WCW had other ripoff Mortal Kombat guys to fight Glacier. You had Mortis (Kanyon) and Wrath (Brian Clark/Adam Bomb)
I'm picking the reboot as the worst. 3 is bad but there is still some fun. The reboot is just joyless and complete misses the point of what made the original movie so awesome.

RoboCop 2 still one of the most misunderstood sequels. Great film. Almost as good as the original.
I enjoyed the remake. I like the actor because I saw him in altered carbon. And it just hits all the right sci fi tropes for me. The original is the better film.

I've read Frank Miller's Robocop 2 comic. I don't see what was considered "unfilmable" about it. Also, it's definitely not any better than the movie.

Remake is the worst for me. Wastes an excellent cast and has the most forgettable bad guy of the whole franchise ( some arms dealer dude, I think? )
3 is bad but it has Robo fighting a ninja robot, plus Jeff from Curb Your Enthusiasm turns up at one point so I can’t completely hate it lol

The worst Terminator movies ("3" and "Dark Future") were R-rated. I'll defend "Salvation" and "Genisys" for at least having new and interesting ideas. The latter has some really good action sequences. The franchise still should have ended with T2.

RoboCop > RoboCop 2 > RoboCop (2014) > RoboCop 3
I hate RoboCop 3 so much that it's the only film I don't own.
However, based on this review, I might give it a second look.

The 2014 reboot really isn’t THAT bad….
I understand the criticism on the reboot. It was PG-13, the satire was pretty mid, and there was no way it could ever match the original.
As a generic action movie, It doesn’t entirely suck. It’s an average action superhero movie at best. At worst it’s a slightly below average RoboCop movie.
2014 doesn’t recapture the magic at all….but it was ok for what it was.
I still think it’s better than 2 and 3

Not as good as the original obviously but compared to the kind of sequels we get nowadays RoboCop 2 is like, Citizen Kane ( no pun intended )

My first contact with Robocop was the cartoon.
Robocop 2 isn't bad. The actress who played Angie (part of Cain's gang) Galyn Görg was also in Judgment Night (1993) as a baseball bat-swinging angry lady. That's a good movie that I rediscovered recently.
I think robocop 3 is pretty good. It just needed peter weller and i'm sure the fans would've appriciated a little bit more.
