I'm still working out the visual style for this kind of video, so expect changes as I go. Recaps are a different animal. The next one will look cleaner, overall. Also, I neglected to mention that Marnes tells Jahns that Holston picked Juliette as a successor later in the episode. I meant to double-back to that before I closed it out.
When you pointed out Juliet’s nervousness around people from the upper levels, it made me wonder if the lack of lifts / elevators is a way of creating and reinforcing social stratification, as a way to keep silo residents from finding common cause with each other and bucking the system. Originally I assumed it was just another method of physical control, a way to keep people tired, and to make gathering in large numbers more difficult. Either way it feels like the place was engineered for authoritarian control instead of the kind of communalistic society the silo residents seem to think they’re participating in.
I think this is correct. It appears that every aspect of life was planned with the idea that the hierarchy of power must be maintained. Social mobility is discouraged, literally and figuratively.
@@nautilusfiles it's really good.. I was surprised that the first-time director was able to get so many celebrities in it. But as soon as the plot started to unfold I thought, "Ooh, Nautilus Files will like this" lol
Have you ever seen the movie "City of Ember"? Much of the plot is nearly identical. And without spoiling anything, Tim Robbins plays a prominent role in that movie too. I think it is def worth the 90 minute view time :) And yet again, thanks for the recap. It is helping to tide me over for your coverage of Severance season 2 :)
4:36 that's knitting not crochet 🧶 crochet means "hook", bc the tool you use is hooked, you just need one and hold it in your dominant hand; knitting is done with knitting needles, usually 2 or more, held with two hands, they look sharp like needles. I think you can say "knitting" as a universal term, bc crocheting just means that you knit with a hook. Vs crochet is only used for crocheting aka "hooking". Not everyone agrees though, some people get mad when their crocheting is referred to as knitting. In my language both is called knitting, you just specify if it's a hook or needles you use. But in English people are usually more particular (not always) so I hope I didn't offend anyone. I love both knitting and crocheting Edit: to clarify further, if you don't want to learn the difference between knit and crochet, I think it's safer to say "knit" for everything, vs saying "crochet" for both would be ridiculous. Bc if I'm not mistaken, knitting means something more general like weaving, or making fabric with yarn, but crochet is specific and it means you're using a hook.
I'm sorry, but did everyone miss the fact, that when we see the outside from Holstons POV there is no bodies on the ground? Even in this video there is an almost side-by-side comparison shots and on the Silo screen there is a body under the tree, but when we see it from Holstons perspective it's not there? Or am I crazy??
You’re right! He does go towards the spot where her body is on the silo screen however, and it looks like he goes down right next to her. If she wasn’t really there, maybe he was just going towards where he remembers last seeing her?

I mentioned that he doesn't go to her body first as something to take note of.
