An R9 base with a DIY wheel rim is the only way I'm going to get into the DD world for a price I can afford.

Facts!!! I have the R5 coming from a G29.
Anyone debating on the R5 versus the R9, I would advise just spend the extra money and get the R9. I love my R5, but after a year or so you get used to the force feedback and crave more.
This video is awesome. I always wondered why the 'big names' in sim racing didn't go this route for quick releases, and if other brand quick releases were compatible. It's good to know we have options.
This type of qr is also compatible to simagic wheel bases and this is recommended budget qr because its sturdy. Other qr i tried has play (fake ones) or (unknown brands) as long it has 6+4 ball lock pattern it fits to the stock adaptor of the wheel base. Got the same qr and it is really sturdy and cheaper too.

What does QR mean? Do the NRG and the Moza version both make the buttons on the simagic wheels work as well when using the moza base? Do you know any more rims that do so as well now?

Moza and Simagic wheels are not interchangeable, the wheelbase terminals are different. If you want to use a different brand of wheel with moza or simagic, you must buy an USB adapted wheel

This is what most popular sim reviewers left out from their review about this brand moza, simagic, cammus etc. They probably don't even know that it's a thing 🤷♂️

A USB steering wheel button box using an Arduino is good, but if you spend a little more, you can use Ultimarc's BlueHID to use a Bluetooth HID device. I made a 32 button steering wheel button box and use it on a Panatec Podium Hub. (4-Rotary, 24-28 buttons including horn)
*For the baguette hub, you can DIY 10 buttons using pins and resistors.

Hi, like the compact size, better QR, but found software needs adjusting out of box to get the right feel. There are a lot of options now, so really depends on your budget.

Could the Fanatec McLaren rim or other Fanatec rims be bolted to this? I know I'd lose button functions but would they bolt on? Famatrc need tomove quick on their QR2.
Fanatec rims with 70mm bolt pattern will fit. But different bolt pattern on the McLaren, you would need an adapter between the wheel and QR. Then also convert the wheel to USB for buttons to work.
So can i use the stock quick release on a aftermarket wheel ?

Very nice! Any thoughts on Fanatec DD compared to Moza? I have a DD1
DD1 is a great wheel base, better feel out of box and able to plug in pedals, shifter ect
R9 - compact size, better QR, but found software needs adjusting out of box to get the right feel. 1/2 price of DD1
A compact Clubsport DD with improve QR would be nice!

You plug that in seperately to your pc. Just like you would do for a button box

Yup. It's an industry standard item. The Kyostar one looks identical to this and does my R9 perfectly, for about $35

@@abuelb I'm not sure if I understand your question. But if your wheelbase is compatible with this NRG QR, then it will also be compatible with the Moza QR, yes.

Moza is fantastic....and you dont even need to spend that much on the NRG.....plenty of 35-45.00 options.
That is true, if you are not going to use Moza steering wheels you can also put a QR equal to 5+3 balls that are even cheaper... I have the r9 with an aluminum extension adapter of 10 cm and QR of 8 balls and several flywheels by USB...

I have a Sparco P310 wheel that I quite like - any chance of this wheel working with a Moza R9? Also the buttons will never work, correct?
Yes an original P310 with 70mm PCD will fit the QR. You could wire the buttons separately and connect via USB

Any wheel will work, tho if you want to use the buttons and shifters it needs to connect to the PC via usb.
You mad $125 for a qr!!! moza's qr is only £60 😂😂😂 and it's spot on don't need to soend no 125 plus the wheel jokes can get an es wheel for 25 more which has a qr already 😂😂😂😂

Guys, i need some help pls! Im considering to get my first DD base but im undecided between the moza r9 and the new T818. I have a tm sf1000 as a steering wheel but I'd like to buy the r9 cause the qr system is way better than the t818. Is it possible to get the sf1000 working properly (i mean not only force feedback but also the screen) with the feature showed in this video?
Since the SF1000 is also part of the Thrustmaster ecosystem, I'm not seeing a feasible solution to get everything on that wheel to work with the Moza R9 or anything outside the Thrustmaster ecosystem really. If you want to keep using the SF1000 then it's safest to stick with a Thrustmaster wheel base.

Yes. I have their SR-P pedals and they connected via USB into PC.

Yeah it does
