I was thinking the same, at the level this guys compete any second makes a difference, and creating your own equipment to have that small advantage is probably what set him apart
Just listening to him speak about his training makes me realize why he is a champion. The golf ball contraption 30 minute grip work out comment goes to show his dedication to be the best. Very motivating! Keep up the videos Matt!
mat (with one t): i've tried to keep this off camera all the time because it's like a secret weapon *hand spinny thing sells out moments after the release of this video* haha! Great content, enjoying the channel!
Would love to hear more in a video about the zone training you talk about. How to calculate your zones, types of workouts that target those zones, etc.
Wow, I am 13 and I have fractured my L5 on both sides as well, the gym in my house has a reverse hyper, I have to get surgery soon, so I will have a long recovery as well. Thanks for all the inspiration Mat
Mat...for being the GOAT..you seem like the next door neighbor that would stop by to help work on a mower. MLB, NBA, NFL should pay you to teach their young stars how to carry themselves.
Why there are 6 jealous people dislike this ???? lol we are so lucky to have the fittest man on Earth 5 * ( 5 damn TIMES!!!!!) to give us some of his free time right now we should say thank you Matt for sharing your life! AND NOT dislike his video! Thank you Fra5er! 🇺🇸
Assembly by myself was not too hard. I took my time and followed the diagrams. I particularly like the pictures and names of the exercises organized by muscle groups on the front of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxKJHyBZ9I1py9vVi-XLpEBg0y-qmdhn3q . Considering the number of exercises it has a relatively small footprint. I needed a machine that was not too tall because I only have 79" headroom in my cabin and this was just over 78". It is easy to use, seems to be well made, and I am pleased with my purchase. I am doing upper body muscles on Monday and Thursday. Lower body exercises are being done on Tuesday and Friday. Not using it on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. I am a reasonably fit 66 year old man and this is a great workout.
CrossFit has changed so much since I started following it in 2008. Did you all catch that Mat said he does hours and hours of "Zone 2" training. This means he is building his aerobic base at ~150 bpm doing long cardio workouts. This is the kinda stuff CrossFitters scoffed at back in 2008. A few years ago in a road to the games episode Noah Ohlsen kept talking about how he needs to "get his carbs". There was a video in 2008 where they asked CrossFit Games competitors if they were going to carbo load for the Games and the athletes (I think it was Dutch and Speal doing a thruster/double under workout) laughed at that idea because it was so ridiculous (they would just eat more nuts of course!)... Mat, I would love to see a video where you cover these differences between how elite competitors train and the stuff they have been teaching at L1 for years.
Eating to compete/perform is different than what’s needed to support a “healthy lifestyle”. Mat has always eaten to fuel his body not look a certain way. That’s probably the main difference between Mat and the competition field. -Sammy
@@MatFraserHWPOTraining Hi Sammy! Thanks for responding! I've been so impressed with your whole team. Due to the articles and videos that CrossFit HQ has put out for 12+ years CrossFit gyms around the country are full of people who believe isolation movements are stupid, paleo is "the way", and going all out on every workout is the only way to improve. You guys have an ideal platform to teach CrossFitters about this stuff and I'd LOVE to see you do it. Either way, looking forward to seeing what your amazing team does next!
Would love to hear about the different coaches you had during your career and what they focused on, and at what period, if any, when you coached yourself.
For much much cheaper option and takes up alot less room just get some loadable 2 inch dumbbell bars and have anything from 5-200lb dumbbells using the weights you already use, 45s and 35s are usually to big depending on the range of movement you are doing though
I would love a video on your tips/tricks and technique for rowing. The more I get into it lately the more I find there's a much finer art to it than I thought.
I have one of those 'spinny things'. It was popular in the MMA world a few years ago [maybe even longer], and I used it consistently. It literally CRUSHES you. Mine has been in the bottom of a box full of accessory equipment...I think it's time to break it out. Thanks Mat.
I think you can see in this video why he’s better than the rest. Everything is about making himself better. Even if it ridiculous, abs roller, neck trainer, slider, etc, shit that people will laugh at you if you use it. And also that level of detail, not just about lifting big.
Awesome video. Not only confirms some items I’m anxious to purchase, but cements my need to buy a home with more gym space :-| Again-great video! Thanks 👍
Thank you for sharing your home gym. I cant wait to build my own. I see how much effort you put into Crossfit,,,a huge commitment. I totally respect your decision to retire, and I cant wait to watch more videos. :)
Storage: Home Depot sells garage storage racks that are perfect for d-balls, plates, etc. I got a 4 tier and changed out the shelving for 3/4 inch plywood with rubberized spray on them. Works like a charm AND cheap.
Great videos mat! You should totally have a little reminder for people to subscribe/like, it massively improves your growth, and it doesn't have to be super in your face. Love the content!
His channel is three weeks old with 134k subscribers. 80k views on this video after 24 hrs...I think he’s doing just fine without asking people to like and subscribe.
I played this game where every time Mat said “rogue”, “grip” or “low impact” I’d take a shot. Now my wife is divorcing me. I blacked out and started a fire in the kitchen trying to cook bacon
Absolutely a dream gym!! Would kill for that amount of equipment!!! Still amazes me that you Americans are willing to use everything as a unit of measurement except for one that actually makes sense.
Mat attaching that thing to his jump rope handle to train his grip is just another testament to his next level mindset. This video is awesome!
