This type of content is so cool, it’s rare that champions in any sport just have a vulnerable sit down like this. Thanks for being open with us Mat! Will you have a booth at the games?
It always makes me smile when super incredible people say the one who made the biggest impact on them were teachers. One of the hardest jobs. But truly one of the most important. No one becomes a 5x champion alone! Thanks for sharing Mat!
You’re far from a quitter & love to prove people wrong - we have that in common! I also love the vulnerability throughout your video, it’s really meaningful to see it coming from you and shows your authenticity. Goosebumps and teary eyes all throughout this watch!
Hey Matt, You were my inspiration to reach my goal of becoming a female Firefighter in Australia. It took me 4 years but finally I reached that goal at 46 yesrs of age, you really inspired me and trained like i never thought I could. You were definitely my inspiration. Tiffany 🙏
Mat, thank you for taking the time to genuinely answer these questions. You are exemplary. I Always appreciate and value when you share your perspective on life. Your insights are enormously helpful. Thank you!

HWPO is the mantra for life, you’re the living embodiment of it my man. Appreciate you and what you’ve done as I strive to live my life through this ethos. ✊🏽
For those who don't know, in the HWPO Flagship 2.0 programming this week we did both 6x6 emom backsquats and ALSO same day the 9 round 1:40 on,0:20 off rowing interval workout. Fun to watch this after having done both!
Thank you for this content. Thank you for being vulnerable and emotional and unashamed. I felt like we were just hanging out, chatting. So good! Blessings.

Awesome mat really interesting to hear what all your thoughts for all the questions. I’m 53 years old I been watching you for last 3 years and you inspire me so I joined cross fit it’s only been 7 months now but wow it is incredible and I have a whole a lot of respect for the sport. So thank you Mat Fraser for who you are and the champion that you have become and the influence you have did. Keep make more videos and hopefully one day I can shake the hand of 5 time worlds fittest cross fit champion THANK YOU 🙏

@@angelarodriguez9751 well who else you know has went to the lengths he has in the sport? Torn LCL first day of the Games, wins. Love this side of you Mat. It's amazing you can talk so open. My question for you is: If you has the chance to travell back in time, would you do something diferent?. Like a Workout
This was really fantastic! I very much enjoy everything you share. If this was something you would ever feel comfortable sharing, I would be very interested in hearing about if you ever had to deal with anxiety or depression or sadness during your competing days and being able to train when you were feeling those things. And what you did to keep yourself going.
Wow, this was my favorite. And we have a lot in common...both in the intellectual and physical! I skipped 5th grade and was still painfully bored AF in 6th. I finished *everything* first, and at least if you finished first or second there were two manual typewriters that you could jump on. Suffice it to say that I became an excellent typist at age ten, long before computers and cellphones, haha.
Great to see you open up. Question, who do you admire most in sports like Basketball and Tennis. For me you're the same kind as Kobe and Djokovic who are my favorites. Love you and what you do keep it up GOAT!
Loved this video as much as watching you competing, so ispirational! My question: do you feel treated as a VIP now in your daily life around other people? Or did your interactions with others changed a lot after getting famous?
You've experienced the Crossfit Games as an athlete and now as a coach. Besides the obvious (competing vs not competing), what are the major differences between the two experiences? Is there something new about the Games that you never noticed before? Thanks for the video!
Mat you are truly one of a kind. Love following you and am loving your family. You need to make more babies with Sammi...your daughter is just model-beautiful!
Matt I find it amazing how you were balancing school with being such an elite competitor. Considering your academic objectives at the time, I was wondering what were your grades and did you complete your degree and minors?
With your Mechanical Engineering background, would you ever meausure the distance of your fulcrums to the loads being moved to reduce moment forces on your body? On a similar note, do you plan on designing your own brand of exercise equipment?
Question for the next one, 2 parter: were you worried at any point during Saturday and Sunday 2019, and did you welcome the challenge and change of pace of not wearing the white shirt then?
Di you find higher bodyfat was a key to success for conditioning and strength ( I personally definitely feel fitter and stronger at higher bodyfat levels)
Imagine the pain he felt in training and competing. To be 5x in a row is unthinkable. No one has ever felt and embraced the pain cave like Mat. Not even Rich.
Just did the 9 rounds on the ski for the first time. Held under 1:55. Felt like I could go faster next time. I wonder what Mat held on this one? My guess is 1:39.
Why you're tasting pennies: The sensation of tasting pennies after a heavy lift is often attributed to the taste of blood, which can be released from the tiny blood vessels in the lungs or airways when they are strained. This metallic taste is due to the presence of iron in the blood. During intense physical exertion, the pressure in your lungs increases, and if some blood vessels burst, a small amount of blood can enter your airways and be tasted. Another possibility is that intense exercise can lead to increased breathing through the mouth, causing dry mouth and a metallic taste.
Do you think that genetics is a big part of your dominance or is it just HWPO? Or to ask it in another way, do you think a ”normal” crossfit guy can get as good as that with doing every aspect right?
What's the longest or most intense training day you've ever had? How many total hours were spent working out and what were some or all of the workouts/movements?
I like hearing about the dark side of athletes pushing themselves to the limit and beyond. What are some of the worst injuries- acute or long-term, that you've sustained over the years, and do any of them still affect you today?
Yep, the 2024 athletes are: Mal O’Brien, Jacqueline Dahlstrom, Jayson Hopper, Katrin Davidsdottir, Brooke Wells, Jake Douglas, Amanda Barnhart, Christine Kolenbrander, Sam Kwant, Cole Greashaber, Victor Hoffer. But Mal isn't competing this year, she moved to Hawaii for a year to focus on herself and her mental health.
I’ll never get enough of listening to Mat talk about competition
Love this type of content! One tip: read the questions out loud for the people who are listening but not watching.

Question for part 2: How did you and Sammy come up with Eddy's name (I am not sure about the spelling)
You mom is a G for not telling you that you tore your knee
Now I’m gonna go watch the muscle up clean workout to watch mats facial expressions knowing his knee is trashed ..
This was brilliant. Only one MF. Part 2 hurry up.
Do you still have the itch to do games level competition or is it just something you are down with now?
