    It always makes me smile when super incredible people say the one who made the biggest impact on them were teachers. One of the hardest jobs. But truly one of the most important. No one becomes a 5x champion alone! Thanks for sharing Mat!

    For those who don't know, in the HWPO Flagship 2.0 programming this week we did both 6x6 emom backsquats and ALSO same day the 9 round 1:40 on,0:20 off rowing interval workout. Fun to watch this after having done both!

    You were my inspiration to reach my goal of becoming a female Firefighter in Australia. It took me 4 years but finally I reached that goal at 46 yesrs of age, you really inspired me and trained like i never thought I could. You were definitely my inspiration.

I’m 53 years old I been watching you for last 3 years and you inspire me so I joined cross fit it’s only been 7 months now but wow it is incredible and I have a whole a lot of respect for the sport. So thank you Mat Fraser for who you are and the champion that you have become and the influence you have did. Some freak anomaly with his rib finds a way to get back to health so he can win. Gets hit by a car on a motorcycle puts a damn ankle brace on and WINS. This is warrior type shit for real. I’m not trying to be rude or discredit anyone else but nah, IT’S ONLY HIM.

    Have been dabbling in CrossFit for 2 years. Engineering background similar to yours. Protruding l3-l4 and annulus rip with protrusion l4-l5. Miss Hang Power cleans and burpee box jump overs.
    @MatFraserHWPOTraining - This was great to witness - keeping my head in a good space. Thank you ! It will be a slow painful climb for me .

    This was really fantastic! I very much enjoy everything you share.
    If this was something you would ever feel comfortable sharing, I would be very interested in hearing about if you ever had to deal with anxiety or depression or sadness during your competing days and being able to train when you were feeling those things. And what you did to keep yourself going.

    Wow, this was my favorite. And we have a lot in common...both in the intellectual and physical! I skipped 5th grade and was still painfully bored AF in 6th. I finished *everything* first, and at least if you finished first or second there were two manual typewriters that you could jump on. Suffice it to say that I became an excellent typist at age ten, long before computers and cellphones, haha.

    With your Mechanical Engineering background, would you ever meausure the distance of your fulcrums to the loads being moved to reduce moment forces on your body?

    Why you're tasting pennies:
    The sensation of tasting pennies after a heavy lift is often attributed to the taste of blood, which can be released from the tiny blood vessels in the lungs or airways when they are strained. This metallic taste is due to the presence of iron in the blood. During intense physical exertion, the pressure in your lungs increases, and if some blood vessels burst, a small amount of blood can enter your airways and be tasted. Another possibility is that intense exercise can lead to increased breathing through the mouth, causing dry mouth and a metallic taste.

    Di you find higher bodyfat was a key to success for conditioning and strength ( I personally definitely feel fitter and stronger at higher bodyfat levels)

      Yep, the 2024 athletes are: Mal O’Brien, Jacqueline Dahlstrom, Jayson Hopper, Katrin Davidsdottir, Brooke Wells, Jake Douglas, Amanda Barnhart, Christine Kolenbrander, Sam Kwant, Cole Greashaber, Victor Hoffer. But Mal isn't competing this year, she moved to Hawaii for a year to focus on herself and her mental health.

      Because he had her as a training partner. The question is who “WOULD” you have.
      Just like some pro basketball player being asked. If they trained with LeBron all day every day, but then said MJ if I could. Would you have an issue with that answer?

And maybe it’s just a me thing but if I had trained with one of the best, I would say something along the lines of “I have been fortunate enough to have the best training partners along the likes of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant but if I had to pick someone I didn’t have the opportunity to train with, I’d pick MJ”. Again, great point. I didn’t see it like that until you brought it to my attention. I just thought he’d at least mention Tia.
