Yes! I'm not that tall, and with my Nuobell stand it's awkward with heavy weights to un/re-rack them because I have to go up on my toes or lean in a weird way.
This would be pretty easy to accomplish with the 3x3 upright and a slightly smaller upright that slides inside with a pop pin…. Man if I had access to rogue or reps ear and their manufacturing power, I could come up with the thing people really want quick
This idea is awesome. Coop, can you do a series of videos on how you would design common sq ft size spaces with different budgets? It'd be sick if you even built out a warehouse with garage, basement, & home style gyms of varying sizes that you constantly kept updated with the best gym solutions. Kinda like an IKEA, but infinitely more badass. Cheers! ❤
Coop many of us only have half of a two car garage to put a gym in. I would love to see what you would purchase and how you would lay out/design a budget, midrange, and ultimate gym in one half of a two car garage. That would be so helpful to the majority of us who are limited by either budget, space, or some combination of both. This could easily be a whole series and would quickly become your most popular content.
Harbor freight lawn mower jack is really excellent for heavy power blocks and can be adapted to any others. I have reoccurring hamstring issues soliciting heavy dumbbells from the floor when afflicted is a no go. This jack can be loaded with the jack platforms on the floor and just jacked up to your working hight and the platforms are on arms about 24" apart so most can stand perfectly balanced between them with a straight back. The one I own has a tube foot between the arms that gets in the way but I'm going to modify that to two feet outside of the platforms.
@@MushookieManI cut a piece of plywood for the end of each arm and that works perfectly with square dumbbells. There is an elevated border that would retain round dumbbells without further modification but they have a little room to roll a few inches if you do nothing else.
Nailed it. Ergonomically sound and why did they not think of it sooner. Thanks Coop for leading the way. The advice is: Think outside the box! Think outside the box! Think outside the box!
F****NG AWESOME IDEA. YOU'RE A GENIUS MAN! I own the Nuobell Dumbbells with stand. Their stand is almost perfect. They have an almost total v shape but not quite. I get as close as possible to the inside of the stand and it's pretty good on lifting off the dumbbells. No one I've ever known or seen has made your suggestions. The "wheel" part would absolutely make it the perfect stand. May I say making the stand able to adjust the height also, THEN we're talking out of this world perfect stand. Thank you "Cooooop" excellent video.
Love the content, but can we please get some more videos that provide ideas and solutions for some of the common problems we face as home gym owners? Specifically layout and space issues. Like maybe use some of those spaces and equipment you have at your headquarters to show the best way to fit a fully stocked home gym while still having room to park a car. Or maybe do a review of all the different mass storage systems and the best way to integrate them into your space.
@@suavethreads8904for low ceiling spaces it’s hard to beat REP’s 80” racks. I just upgraded from an ATX 600 series to a REP 5000 half rack in my low ceiling gym, and it was worth every penny. Add in an Ares 2.0 and Bulletproof Fitness VTS Lite and you’ll have a full “all in one” that sticks off the wall only 30”
@@GarageGymReviewsyeah man! I’m building a 16x18 tuff shed for home gym/ office space. Was looking at upgrading my Rogue RM4 for the Rep Hyperion system or something similar using various pieces from different companies to replicate a single wall gym space. I understand I’m in the minority in this tuff shed realm but not in a single space/wall system now that things are exploding. Maybe a Frankenstein episode on how to replicate certain products out there.
If you're not looking to buy something, just keep in mind that you can make a V-stand tailored to your height with less than $50 of wood, paint, and fasteners from a home improvement store. I did it for my Bowflex 552s and I'll be doing it again for my Reppins. Just use 2x4 in some places, 2x6 in others, and some plywood for the horizontal surface. Obviously a pre-built one is nice, but just if you're looking to make one yourself - it isn't hard.
The only thing I would add is support for loadable dumbbells: which need to rest on the handle rather than the weights so you can easy load and unload weight onto the loadable dumbbells. Also, making them modular would let you add plate storage to the stand for the different weight plate sizes. Bonus points if the v-stand is taller and has something like dumbbell specific j-cups that let you get the weight from an elevated position at the start of a dumbbell bench press.
Hey Coop I think the Next step in your business should be creating home gym equipment. I think this stand is the perfect start to that journey. You already have an idea of whats needed. Make it and the audience you've already created will buy it.
Coop…I can’t believe you didn’t include the Ironmaster Pro Stand anywhere in this video. I have it and I love it. It doesn’t hit everything on your list…. You bring up some cool upgrade ideas that I never would have even thought about. Would love to see you review this one. Years ago before I bought it I was desperate for someone on YT to talk about it, but found nothing.
Coop! Create a signature line with Rep, Rogue or any other brand that’s smart enough to partner with you! I’ve seen a lot of RUclipsrs doing that lately.
I couldn’t imagine not having the Nuobell dumbell stand. Walk in, pick up the weight, and I can even toss my adjustable rep kettlebell under it for easy access and storage thanks tot the V shape.
@@graham1034 yeah plus I’m 30 and have two kids. As time goes I don’t wanna tweak something like coop mentioned trying to stay healthy to be active with my children. Don’t need to be out of commission due to picking up a dumbbell
@TwitchingCorgi 100%. I'm 40+ and also concerned about those sorts of injuries. I've had quite a few athletics related injuries over the years and they take longer to recover from the older I get.
As an apartment "home gym" owner I only use powerblocks, bench, pullupbar, kettlebell. And i was expecting this to not apply to me like usual. But honestly good frickin call here. I didnt care for the first few years but now a days im pretty over bending down to put them back when adjusting weight. Or more often, stepping over peices of weights since i dont feel like putting them all back together between supersets.
Definitely recommend the stand for ironmaster dumbbells. It has good storage for the plates. I’ve never felt putting them down that uncomfortable, but I’m taller at 6’5”.
or if you live in a small space, get a furniture dolly, put your cradle on it, and stuff your weights under your bed when not in use. i’ve been doing that for the past year and it works great!
My ancient Bowflex adjustables actually used to be sold with a fantastic tubular steel stand that I still use today. It literally doubles the price of the dumbells though.
I just set my dumbbells on the boxes they came in. They're pretty strong boxes lol. After watching the video I'm thinking about some of the welding carts from harbor freight. They would hold it and they have storage and drawers.
If you have a leather lifting belt with a tail end that is too long and constantly hits your arm during lifts, a elastic hair tie place around the belt can act as a holder for the excess belt. Cheap, simple and isn’t noticeable until you need it.
And with a lot of these stands, the reason one wants adjustable dumbells is because they want to add more space and eliminate the long and wide (front to back) stand. But some of these stands have a footprint that is so wide (F to B) that the same issue is still there. Yes, some of the length is gone, but that width is still problematic. I like the ones Coop spoke of that are angled because it does set the actual stand closer to the wall, thus eliminating some of that width (F to B).
These are all good ideas, but I don’t think most people would actually use them and they would make the product significantly more expensive to manufacture. I think the most important things for home gym owners is budget, a sturdy and ergonomic design( V-design), a dedicated storage option for adder plates (specifically for the rep x peppins) and simple caster option would be nice if you wanted to move it around. Most people likely would never move there dumbbell stand in my option and would likely prefer a basic dumbbell stand that cost $150 vs $350 with a lot of bells and whistles they likely won’t use.
Yeah Dean at Black Widow is making a 3x3 5/8in or 1in holes dumbbell stand like the one you’re talking about for the Repins and other adjustable dumbbells
Created my own custom "stand" on wheels. Very low and compact to be able to hide my REP quickdraw into a closet. I can move it in and out everytime i work out (life of having a flat in a big city where you can't have a dedicated room 😅)
I sprang for the heavy duty stand for my Nuobells right after I bought dumbells. Absolute necessity unless you wanna be picking them up off the ground every time. I will say the stand is sturdy and you can essentially walk into it to grab them. But unless you're built like Gumby, it's tight and far from optimal. You kinda gotta turn sideways to get in there. It's your typical situation like "Oh, if I only had a few more inches..." lol
Black Widow's dumbbell cart should really be mentioned alongside darkolifts. They had an idea on their instagram for a longer upright with the 3x3 crossmember which is so key for those in small spaces. Able to use 1" attachments with it too like landmines, split squats, UDA etc
I understand that wheels can be handy.. on the opposite side for those with a small home gym, a wall mounted version would be more useful. Do you have any suggestions for this requirement? 😊 Thanks
@Mahaloginger Mine did, brand new; it's a bowflex stock stand that came with the 1090s (you may be thinking of the 552s, or bowflex changed the design).
As mentioned below, height adjustable. Using the 3 by 3 rack uprights with the standard 1-inch holes, using a pinned locking system like some of the rack add-ons. Having the uprights that are attached to the base of the cradles interchangeable with say a 1 foot & two-foot length option, will mean folks of all body heights with different leg/arm lengths could easily adjust to their own personal heights.
It is 6-8 weeks for the BWTG stand from my order date on the first day it was available. It could be 4-6 weeks if my color isn’t considered custom. Rep’s cart stand is by March 1 and their walk in stand is Q2 2025. This was in response to a question I asked.

Honestly it has everything I’m looking for in a piece of equipment while also being super safe for personal use, but I really don’t trust the reviewers I’ve seen review it. They either seem bias or are just casual lifters.
So the bowflex stands weren't too far off the mark then.. Semi walk in with optional wheels.
and for those of us that don't have enough space... i personally have them sitting on my plyobox :)
that dream stand will probably be super expensive too.
Will you ever review the Ironmaster IM2000?
@GarageGymReviews loving the hat bro, where can I buy it?
Hi Coop! I got a question. Is it a good idea to buy Kensui dumbell handles with Yes4all 1in weight plates to make adjustable dumbbels? In terms of convenience and price.
force usa c10 review please
Mine is coming in tomorrow! Can't wait!
I don‘t see a big difference from the V stand and the nüobell stand - isn‘t that basically the same?
An open trap bar is a perfect example that waste high
