I'm the same. Put HD on the map for me though after years of liking motorcycles and Harley Davidson I also like the Deluxe. Come to find out the Deluxe, Heritage Classic and Fat boy are the same basically just with different bolt on parts so no matter which you get you're still kind of getting that motorcycle. Although none are really the same I guess unless you get the old 90's ones with super narrow back tire and evo 1340cc engine otherwise it isn't the same. So unless it's the 90's one there are "creative liberties".
I like your review it was put together very well and spot on. I am old school (66 years old) and always preferred a badass bike over a utility bike. You said it yourself that the Heritage is about a $1,000 more than the Fatboy. A nice set of detachable Harley bags for the Fatboy is about $1,000.00 and you can pickup a nice detachable windshield for less than $500.00. That makes the out the door price of the Fatboy about $500 more than the Heritage. It would cost a lot more than $500 to make the Heritage badass.
I think it should be noted that the looks of the Heritage Classic can be greatly altered by removing the windshield and bags, which can be done quite easily in just a couple of minutes. See the video (link below) for a good example (start at 8:50 minutes for the stripped down look plus a couple of great optional add ons - whitewalls and pipes). ruclips.net/video/W4s8Gf9Mf_0/видео.html (click on the video link, not the start time - don't know why the start time is showing up as a hyperlink).
One thing that was always in the back of my mind when riding my Heritage was the potential to flat in the middle of nowhere. Tubed tires could really wreck your day if you pick up a nail on a tour.
I had a flat on my scout bobber 20 which uses tubed tires. Luckily I was only 5 mins from home so I was able to hobble home with it but I agree. You really are out of luck if you run into a flat with tubed tires
Heritage all the way. Want it to look sportier, remove the bags and windshield, you got it. Put them back on for touring. Much more versatile than the Fatboy.
I like the looks of the twin cam Fat Boy much better. I traded in my 2012 Heritage for a 2023. The 12 was better looking but I rode the 23 and fell in love
Man, you get so much more with the heritage, but the fatboy is so freaking cool looking! Having my 21 LRS already, I would probably get a heritage if I could afford it. A touring bike from the factory, on a softail frame. I especially like that gold and black model 😮
I have owned both of these and for me the ride/handling of the Heritage is MUCH better but the Fatboy looks MUCH cooler to my eyes...If i bought another Softail it would be a Heritage
I agree with everything you said. Between the two I chose the Fat Boy. I don't want my father's bike which is the Heritage Classic. However, I will choose the Breakout 117 over both.
I’ve played that scenario fatboy vs breakout. The breakout to me is a more fun bike for sure but the fatboy is a leisurely cruiser. I don’t know which one I’d go for
Love my 2013 got her new soon I got her I added stage 1 kit screaming eagle air cleaner kit Vance n Hines 3 inch big radius mustang seat it’s orange n beer bottle brown ❤️❤️❤️💯n she’s never let me down n I’ll never let her Go👍
Everything you said was spot on. I'd still go for the Fat Boy, though. It's purely emotional, and to me it's *the* prototype boulevard cruiser. Of the two, it's the one that I would have to look at for a while before walking away from it after a ride.
Agree. It’s funny because a lot of us talk about the “best bikes” but at the end of the day getting a motorcycle is an emotional experience. Well said man
Great review I agree with everything you said , I’m an old baby boomer but , I do love the retro look of the Heritage Classic but , I am drawn to the fat boy , the old style and this new model ,it sizzles 😬
I have a 2024 Breakout and I wish I would have ridden the Heritage before buying it. I am with you though; I look back at my Breakout and it looks so badass, and the Heritage doesn’t do it for me at all. That being said, I will probably still trade for a Heritage soon because of the ride and storage.
Oh I got a 2019 heritage and I love it and handle's great goes down road nice. No problems Lexi pretty powerful be surprised how. Fast will Peck but? That's just. Me?
Harley ruined the Heritage with those cheap ass looking bags. Older bags on my 1999 were great looking now they look like JCWHITNEY bags. You have to spend $1500 to make it sound like a Harley.
The ideally haven't heard 2 Gilbert fat boy and he did a week because I'm a 165 pounds and 56 and it's really. Hard because I got bone out in united destroyed shoulder so heritage illurities. You'd handle fat boys or cunna tough? Go in the corners so i'd really have a heritage. Then a hard then a fat boy.
I chose the fat boy…just fell in love with it in Terminator 2 😊
Awesome choice man

Appreciate the kind words. Yeah the fatboy can be modded out and it’ll still be a really awesome bike

If any of you guys are interested in Harley history you should read Willie G.’s memoir Ride Free - it’s really good
Good tip!

Heritage is def more versatile. Might be the most versatile Harley out of the box
planning to get a Heritage and do some Vicla mod on it , that will be badass
That would be dope
I agree 100% with your assessment. For me, the Heritage seat tips the scale in its favor, but would love either one
Can’t go wrong with either. Fatboy for me would be a heart decision, heritage would be a logical decision.
I like the looks of the twin cam Fat Boy much better. I traded in my 2012 Heritage for a 2023. The 12 was better looking but I rode the 23 and fell in love
Love my 2013 heritage ❤️
Great bike!
Get whichever one gives you the most joy.
Can’t go wrong with that route

I very much agree
Just bought a 2023 Heritage in the Prospect Gold color. I did change the bar to a Wild1 WO550 beach bar. Can't wait to pick it up!

Your review nailed it spot on! I bought the Heritage bc it won my wallet though the Fatboy won my heart.
Yeah it’s hard to justify $20k+ on a purely heart purchase lol

The fatboy has that it factor that other Harley’s don’t seem to have 😂
Bang on about looking back with lust. So tempted to buy a Fat Boy. Sold my Heritage because I didn't find it comfortable.
Yeah the fatboy is a damn good looking bike
I have a 2024 Breakout and I wish I would have ridden the Heritage before buying it. Yeah as much as I’d hate to admit it, the heritage is really one of the best softails
Fatboy for bling, the Heritage for authenticity. The new Icon Hydra-glide for both.
Need all three lol
i have taken the bags and screen off the heritage and swopped out the front fender for one of the 'slim' --- now i have a fatboy /slim ;;;
Sounds like a winner!
What kind of front fender did you put on it ?
@@Guinn1964 a used m8 slim fender
Oh I got a 2019 heritage and I love it and handle's great goes down road nice. No problems Lexi pretty powerful be surprised how. Fast will Peck but? That's just. Me?
Fat Boy is the best- looking Harley, however the heritage has the better ride.
Agreed!
the 2023 fat boy in grey haze that's the one i'm getting.
Great choice man!
I looked at the 2 bikes in the end I chose the fatboy and haven’t looked back 🎉😂
Fatboy is a beast
Great video. Fat boy for me.
Thanks! Same here!
If only you could get the Heritage without the acne on the seat/bags.
@@richardswann4120 haha that’s the best way to put it. Acne lol. Yeah I’m not a fan of those studs in there, makes it look cheap
⚡️⚡️⚡️
🤘🤘
Fatboy❤
Love the fatboy
I never liked spokes.fat boy all the way.
