I have a 2018 Heritage Softail Classic. I don't regret buying it. It's light, quick and nimble. I've made quite a few modifications and added quite a few accessories to it. The ride is smooth, and it doesn't tire you out on long rides. If you take the bags, passenger seat and windshield off, you have a Softail Deluxe--two bikes in one. I highly recommend the Heritage.

I said I'd NEVER own a Harley my whole life. I've owned an FJR and a couple of KTM's, Yamahas and Hondas. I bought a 2021 Heritage Classic in the Deadwood Green and black and it's hands down my favorite motorcycle of my life! I've ridden it three times as much as any of the other bikes in my life and I'm 63. It's a fantastic machine and I could not be more pleased with my purchase! Stage 2 kit and an exhaust really bring it to life!

I was a burnt in the wood YamaHonda guy until 2001. Same story (ish). I bought a Dyna Wide Glide and still have it. I then bought a 1200 Sportster, then a Softail Deluxe, then a Road Glide, then a Street Glide ST and another Road Glide. I stumbled into a Softail Crossbones and a Fatboy in there too, but I sold those, I made them so cool people just really wanted them. I have never looked back. I will spend the rest of my life riding these bikes I still have and perhaps even another one somewhere… …who knows? I still have one Virago and I still like it OK but, it’s a novelty now; I grew up.

I bought a Fat Bob 114 in May, kind of bought it on a whim at a Honda dealership while I was there to check out a KLR 650 Adventure. Seen it while checking out their used bikes and fell in love with it. I really like the Fat Bob and I've had a lot of fun on it but I kinda wish I got a Heritage Classic or maybe even a Road King Special. I love the old school look/feel of the Heritage, I think it would fit my riding style better. Probably going to trade the Fat Bob in for a Heritage Classic sometime before next summer.

This is my story exactly.. All the way down to looking at a KLR650 and buying from a Honda shop! I DID end up trading my Fat Bob for a new Heritage. I really loved the Bob BUT the Heritage fits my riding style better.. Commuting, two up riding and running mountain roads. Before I traded it in, I added a wind shield and a sundowner seat. Still needed more storage for day trips..

Man, how I love your bike reviews, imo they're among the best and most refreshing on youtube. I 100% agree on really everything you say on the Heritage (pros and cons). Since a few years I own a 2018 FLHC blacked out with the smaller 107 engine. I absolutely love my bike and never rode more in the years before. When time has come to exchange my cruiser for an HD, I investigated all HD models and test rode many of them to be 100% sure to buy the right bike for me, which I would keep for a long time. The main reason why my decision fell for the Heritage was that I wanted a classic look and an ONLY bike. The Heritage clearly won both categories. Especially the holdfast technology and the removable windshield make it rock on short distances as well as on tours. Riding position and comfort are awesome for a Softail (new frame from '18). I purchased the tour pack to add space for longer tours, sometimes accompanied by my wife. Clearly you will need some aftermarket pipes for a good sound but imo any other customization is not required for an extraordinary riding experience. Once more, thanks for your great review!

I put 2in risers and kept the stock handlebars. I love my Fat Bob. It's a 2020 with the Orange tank and tins. Everything else is blacked out with just little pops of chrome in a few places. I did Stage II with a SnS 475 Cam kit and Trask performance transmission pressure relief cover. Sceaming Eagle ventilator air cleaner on 64mm throttle body. Two Bro's 2 into 1 pipe! Thunder Max auto tuner. Current Dyno number are 119hp/142fp Added Avon Cobra rubber! And a dozen or so other cosmetic thingy's, including Saddleman seat and Edward Richie tall Sissybar that I strap a Biltwell Ex fill 80 bag to go with Trashin soft saddlebags when I go on a longer trip to visit family out of state. I get a ton of compliments on the bike. It's fast and sounds mean.

To me, the Fat Bob looks like a Dyna mated a Rokon.
But I'm a Heritage fan. I like that I can pull the windshield, bags, sissy bar and pillion off my 2000, throw a tool bag on it and it looks great and is ready for riding locally. If I'm going to be riding all day, I throw the windshield back on. If I want to take a trip, it takes about an hour to swap it all back, and the only quick release I have is on the windshield.
    But to each their own.
Ride on, Ride on, Ride on.

I owned a Vrod, 18 Fat Bob, a 20 Sport Glide and now a 23 Heritage. Your assessments were spot on. Now if I wasn’t married I’d buy another Vrod. I loved the power of that bike but it’s not comfortable for a passenger. My next choice would be the Fat Bob again if I didn’t have a passenger. The Sport Glide was a great bike as well but as soon as my wife sat on the Heritage she felt at home. More legroom for her and I really like the stock bars tilted ever so slightly to get my shoulders more comfortable. I have changed the exhaust to a S&S Grand National and it sounds great. I had Rineharts on the Sport Glide and FB, V&H on the Rod. I have to say these S&S pipes sound great two weeks in. Anyway good review, one thing that you didn’t mention was how in less than a minute you can remove the passenger seat and backrest and have a badass solo ride with no expense. …. Stay safe😎

2019 Fat Bob rider here, from UK. Matt black, Bassani 2 to 1 exhaust, stage 1, moustache crack bars, cruise control, heated grips (we get cold weather) and a rack. I traded down from an 107 ci Ultra Ltd, don’t regret it. I have Custom Dynamics LED indicators yet to fit. You didn’t point out that the FB has slightly higher seat height, 1 1/4”, than the Heritage. I would be interested to know what you would swap the foot pegs out with, they don’t bother me much, nor does the seat particularly but again some suggestions for alternatives would be welcome. We don’t have the variety of accessories that you have in the states other than expensive HD parts. Great comparison by the way.

I had a 2016 Heritage and I did love the bike but the suspension was terrible. The lean angle was also limited. The redesign in 2018 was a new frame and suspension that was easily adjustable. Great all purpose bike for local riding and long distance riding. When I traded my 2016 Heritage I did ride a 2021 Heritage but the stock exhaust sucks. I ended up trading and upgrading to a 2021 Road King standard.

I have a 2021 Fat Bob with a low torque cam. It’s a fun bike, but when I lean into the corners my left boot crapes on the road, the stock seat places me too close to the front and the stock brake peddle is too low putting my foot is at an awkward angle when applying the brakes. I replace the seat with a Saddlemen Street Merchant, replaced the brake arm and peddle with Harley parts, replace the mirrors with wider Harley mirrors , so I could see over my shoulders, and raised the handlebars. After all of that I am going to replace the bike with a Heritage. I like to ride down the freeway, so I want a windshield and a larger gas tank. Also would rather scrap floor boards instead of my boots. Wouldn’t be as bad if my feet weren’t in the boots.

You didn't take the Fatbob offroad! The bike rides like a dirtbike, with those tires and that torque. Along with to the riding position and the ride height, you can really tear it up in the turf. As for on the pavement, I feel this bike could be a stuntbike with just a little bit of fat trimmed off. It dives into corners, sticks well, and with those dual disks up front I am sure it can do an inverted wheelie no problem. I have the 2018 Fatbob 114 and love it. Its currently on my lift getting some custom upgrades so it will look, and ride a bit different when done.
