I can't afford a 25k bike. I just picked up a super clean 04 road king classic for $4300. It looks new. I'm going to do a full cam chest kit because the chain tensioners are worn out. So for like $6500 I'm getting a sweet ride and with the new cams and a tune it will be almost as fast as a new Harley.
@IceTTom because they mentioned that you can get a fat boy for a few thousand and then double the hp for not that much cash. Which is exactly what I'm doing. Did you even pay attention to the video?

I have a carbureted 2003 Fat Boy that I purchased brand new back in July of '03. The EFI model was $600 more and I simply couldn't afford it at the time. I paid $19,100 out the door and I still have that bike today. Billy Lane is a living legend. His work is amazing and his ideas are well beyond the time. The Psycho Billy Cadillac can't and won't be imitated. I absolutely love Billy's Fat Boy.
I have a 1995 Fatboy with the same S&S upgrades. Bike was my late uncles, he bought it new and did all the upgrades to it. Hard bags and forward controls make it very useable and a fun experience to ride. Great video!
I have an 03 fatboy carbureted. Changed the bars to 14’ mini apes, mini front faring, changed the wheels, solid bar riser bushings, and heavier fork oil it’s the perfect bike I’ve taken it on 6 hr rides and hopped off like nothing happened just needs cams and a 2 into one and I’m gonna leave it alone
I have a 99' Fatboy. It came with a windshield when I bought it but it slowed the bike down really bad and gas mileage was terrible. I took it off. And he was right about the suspension. Even after new fork seals and oil, it bottoms out pretty easy and the the back can feel like a hardtail sometimes.
Hi from the U.K. I LOVED my 1st HD an Evo Fatboy! my girlfriend and i stripped it, cleaned and had the frame re painted etc, looked very much like the T2 bike, miss it making me jump when i scraped the boards😂 wish i'd never sold it! 👍👍🤘🤘✌✌
I have been riding an FXR for 28 years. I added an Ultra Classic for long rides with a passenger. I then picked up a 2002 Fat Boy just for fun and I liked it until I rode my brothers 103 fat boy. So I traded my Fat Boy for a 2016 Heritage Softail and that is great. It's great seeing Billy doing his thing. I would catch him at Myrtle Beach putting on his show making sissy bars on stage! Great guy, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable.

Just got a 2016 Fatboy Lo a month ago and love it so much. It had 8k on it I added 1k so far. Coming from a hammer 1275 sporty that I got new in 04 and still have, this fatboy feels like a Cadillac to me. I plan on taking it on over night road trips all over New England and maybe further out as well.
I have more than 250000 thousand miles on my ass and who wants to do 100 mph? My 1984 gets super smooth when I hit 70. Much more comfortable that way. If I’m traveling I put my sleeping bag just above the head light and the wind goes over my head. I put in ear plugs just enough to cut the wind noise. I like to be comfortable. Never in a hurry !

What really caught my eyes on these beautiful bikes are those iconic rims, although you can feel the wind on them unlike the spoke rims, my favorite are the road king's in my 2nd pick would definitely be a soft tail deuce.👍 and thanks for giving us a message every time you ride out 🙏💯👊
Gary your comment regarding the solid wheels is erroneous. I ride a Fatboy, and the cross wind push is a visual misconception, created by someone who has never ridden a fatboy.

I agree! I'm 5'9" and this bike is perfect height for me. APES I say are stupid and have never used them. They would be perfect for a 6'7" guy with a 6' arm span. Sheilds are great for long ride, where no shield is great for touring around town. Thanks, wish I would have made it to the shop in PA.

Fat Boy best Harley Softail made. Not just because I have a 1998 EVO one and I can pull a wheelie with mine.. But this 99 here is bad ass because Billy Lane is a badass bike builder and he did a great job with this one. One of the only great ones left..

I own two Fatboys. One with apes and the other has the beach bars. Both are twin cams with one an 88ci and the other 103 that’s been worked. Big cams ported heads and custom pipes . I enjoy them both. The 88 is my daily. I put about 20 thousand miles in the last twelve months on it and another 5k on my other bikes. Sure the TCs have some issues but easy to fix before they brick themselves and cheap to purchase a low mile example. My 88was 18 years old with only 4K miles on it. The 103 is twelve years old with 14k and scary fast but both have a ton of low end torque which is the fun end of riding. I do all my own maintenance and repairs and I’m a woman.
I have a ‘99 Heritage Softail, I have always loved the Fatboy, but I wouldn’t trade my Softail. It was a chassis and a box of parts when my friend acquired it, and he rebuilt it with a Ultima Performance motor- 127 cubic inches for the power plant. My friend wants to buy it back, but there’s no way in hell I’m selling it
BILLY'S BUILDS ARE BAD ASS. I'm not trying to disagree with him but on 3 different evo's i had drive train issues either breaking trans mounts or having primary issues because trans and motor were not matted. I do think twin cam is a slight improvement in that regard. But evo engine with a big cam and carb literally nothing sounds better
I got a 16 screaming eagle 110 Fatboy love that bike billy lane is one of the chicest guy, love his style he is one of the great bike builder right up there with Indian Larry
I had a fat boy and it was the top of the heap after the Terminator movie. The crazy part is the use of solid wheels. My first ride was on Robert Moses Causway and I got hit with a powerful crosswind on a bridge and literally changed lanes, that and the vibration on the Evo motor would loosen your fillings. The later counterbalanced motors were better but I loved my Fatboy!
The first time I saw Billy Lane was in 1999 or 2000 at a Rat's Hole motorcycle show in Miami or Fort Lauderdale. He was selling really cool aftermarket parts as well as long-sleeved t-shirts with the Choppers, Inc. logo and "F#%k the Factory" emblazoned on the sleeve. I didn't know who he was at that point, but you knew he was going to go a long way. My first bike was a 1999 FLSTF Fatboy that was Seafoam Green and Birch that I bought from Fort Lauderdale Harley-Davidson before Bruce Rossmeyer bought that dealership. At that time, there was a waiting list to buy Harleys. The dealer took my name and told me that he wouldn't have a bike for a couple of months. About two weeks later, the dealer called me and told me that he had two Fatboys and I could take my pick of either one. The bike was carburated and I put Samson Longshots on it and also went with a LePera basket weave solo seat (like the one on Billy's 1999 FLSTF) that I bought from Eddie Trotta's Thunder Cycle Designs shop in Fort Lauderdale. It was a great bike. Seeing Billy's videos where he restored his 1999 Fatboy was great.
Never liked the wheels on the fat boy, cross wind issues. Had a buddy who swapped out his FB wheels for spooks and it looked nice. Riding his got me back into bikes and Harleys.
I’ve owned and rode my 98 Fatboy for over 10 years, the solid wheels do not push you around like people say in crosswinds, its a common myth, the bike is heavy and has such a low center of gravity its not effected, anyone on any bike thats hit by a crosswind or passing a semi on the highway is going to get blown around a bit, thats riding, but people act like the solid wheels are sails in the wind….its not
Also have a 99 Fatboy my first and only HD,got hit by a Drunk driver in the ass at a dead stop and it saved my life,put it back together and road with my dad love my bike..Loud and fast !!!!

My 94 heritage softail is the most dangerous bike I've owned. Not because it's fast, but because it's just so slow and the stock brakes are not great whatsoever. But it looks cool and sounds great so it's staying with me.
At 10:35 i keep trying to explain this to people and they just DON'T understand. I had a 2020 ninja 650 and it was UNBEARABLE. Any windshield puts all kf the wind RIGHT into your head and kills your neck. It was so uncomfortable (also just a bad bike). I then had my indian scout with nothing and it was far better on the wind aspect with no windshield. My Zx10r with double bubble. Was perfect. Kept me out of the wind when i wanted to, or sit right upright and be in the wind if i want.
Says the traditional gauge will last forever, vs screens….speedo is stuck at 20 when sitting still. I agree though, screens get dated and look bad compared to dials.
Thats a common myth, Any bike in heavy crosswinds is getting blown around, ive owned and rode my Fatboy for a decade and have had multiple people ask me about that

2006 was the last year that you could get either FI or carburated on Harleys.

i own and ride a 2012 fatboy 103b in tequila sunrise orange. bought in may 2020 with 17,500 miles on it. it now has 30,000 miles.

Yeah, on a long highway ride no windshield SUCKS, the pressure on your chest just adds up over time and you just want the highway portion to end.

It was a great bike. Seeing Billy's videos where he restored his 1999 Fatboy was great.
Never liked the wheels on the fat boy, cross wind issues. Had a buddy who swapped out his FB wheels for spooks and it looked nice. Riding his got me back into bikes and Harleys.
I’ve owned and rode my 98 Fatboy for over 10 years, the solid wheels do not push you around like people say in crosswinds, its a common myth, the bike is heavy and has such a low center of gravity its not effected, anyone on any bike thats hit by a crosswind or passing a semi on the highway is going to get blown around a bit, thats riding, but people act like the solid wheels are sails in the wind….its not

Everyone has their own preferences, but 12-14" apes are the most comfortable for me

My 94 heritage softail is the most dangerous bike I've owned. Not because it's fast, but because it's just so slow and the stock brakes are not great whatsoever.
But it looks cool and sounds great so it's staying with me.
Does it have a California cam?

My 2001 twin cam carbureted also. Absolutely love it!
At 10:35 i keep trying to explain this to people and they just DON'T understand. I had a 2020 ninja 650 and it was UNBEARABLE. Any windshield puts all kf the wind RIGHT into your head and kills your neck. It was so uncomfortable (also just a bad bike). I then had my indian scout with nothing and it was far better on the wind aspect with no windshield.
My Zx10r with double bubble. Was perfect. Kept me out of the wind when i wanted to, or sit right upright and be in the wind if i want.

Says the traditional gauge will last forever, vs screens….speedo is stuck at 20 when sitting still.
I agree though, screens get dated and look bad compared to dials.

My 03 Heritage Softail has a carburetor, just the way I like it.
The softail might not be the wheelie bike or drift bike whatever if you ever line up next one on the stoplight watch out
Carburetor was available through 2006. I ride a 2006 flhrs carbed.
The Fat Boy was notorious for drifting in heavy side winds.

Thats a common myth, Any bike in heavy crosswinds is getting blown around, ive owned and rode my Fatboy for a decade and have had multiple people ask me about that

I was watching and thinking that guy looks and sounds like Billy Lane. Then I backed the video up and yes. You need to get Billy to help you with your build off bike. Maybe do some ride videos with him.
Anyone who’s ever had a fatboy very long would attest to the difficulty holding on when in a crosswind,those solid wheels will push you toward the ditch
