One of the most underrated bands of all time. They earned the nickname "Australian Eagles" because of their harmonies and melodies. The rabbit hole for this band is long and extensive, and a fun one to go down. "Lonesome Loser", "Reminiscing", "Cool Change", and "Take It Easy on Me" are a good start. Great reaction!

This song was actually released in 1976, not '67. That said, that was the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding (in Australia). It's wonderful that Americans are discovering our older Aussie music - all the music I grew up with. You guys over there were so disadvantaged not getting any of our stuff. LRB was a great band. Glenn Frey from The Eagles publicly admitted he considered LRB as the best vocal band in the world. he said this at the 1988 Brisbane Expo live concert while he was travelling with LRB.
LRBs harmonies during every live concert were as good as they were in the studio.
A friend of mine was recording in a studio in London while LRB were in the studio next door. They spent the ENTIRE weekend working on the harmonies for one song. THAT is why they were so good.

Your comments, "musical geniuses", "not a song, a piece" and the "movements' in it are spot on Seb. Thanks for sharing. It was a journey of a song. Unless they bought the album, those Americans who heard and liked the song heard a ridiculously truncated radio version with that epic guitar solo by Ric Formosa taken out. This album version was mostly ignored when anyone spoke about muscular, gymnastic, melodic guitar, seamless use of orchestra, harmonies, melody - you name it. As a product of the 70s, I put it up there with anything that was played on radio: Hotel California, Baker Street, Do it Again, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Masquerade (Benson) - and anything that was lifted off albums to become popular classics, like Stairway or Maybe I'm Amazed. I NEVER get sick of 'It's a Long Way There'.
Australian music from about 1965 to around 1992 was replete with amazing bands and songs, and I'm not talking AC/DC. I note from the YT comments that a lot of people from other countries are hearing Australian music from this time and saying "where the hell has this been all this time?" The fact is that America owned popular music and like Australian boxers, Aussie musicians never got a look in, no matter how talented they were. Now people are having their minds blown by Aussies, many of whom retired without a bean or pursued other careers. That's life I guess.
Oh, and by the way, any band that can write 'Reminiscing' and ' It's a Long Way There' alone is worthy of legend status. Two of the best songs ever recorded. 'Reminiscing was Lennon's favourite song around the time he died. These are two songs even he and McCartney would wish they'd written.

That wouldn't have been the real Little River Band, you played with the Little River Band cover band. Whilst LRB had an amazing number of great songs, this is by far my favourite! Love Pink Floyd, so this song, as its title suggests, is a great journey and a treat to listen to, like many from PF❤.
... In 1985 I enjoyed a wonderful yachting holday with friends in the Whitsundays, in northern Queensland. I live in the south, in Melbourne.
I documented that holiday with my first video camera. Much to the dismay of the friends, it took to 2020, during our covid lockdown, for me to edit it for presentation to the friends.
One of the great songs I used in the soundtrack was "It's a Long Way There". I couldn't have found a better song!
... BTW unfortunately Americans (and many others), due to marketing difficulties, were never exposed to numerous gems from many Aussie artists, especially from the 60s to the 80s!

Wow you have discovered an amazing Australian soft rock band. They have intense harmonies and great songs, enjoy the rabbit hole.
Australia has so many great bands and singers, you need to dive into the artists from down under.
Thank you for the reaction from a proud Aussie💕💕

It's a piece of music you could be proud of your entire life.
You'd never look back at and feel embarrassed or cringe.
Some of the effects might sound dated, but the composition and execution is timeless.

I was going to praise the keenness of your analysis and depth of our newly shared fandom for these freaks (I saw lead singer Shorrock twice in 2022), and already had subscribed when you pronounced Melbourne so expertly in clearest Aussie replica, I would walk through fire for you. Power on, legend!

David Briggs, the lead guitar player is a gem of recording history in Australia. Every member of the band sings, even the drummer. They know what harmonies are.

So glad you put this video up and loved it. LRB's in my top ten favorite bands. Please check out their later albums into the late 80's. And you should know that John Farnham was their lead singer for a couple of years and on three albums. He made them even more incredibly good! PLUS, if you haven't listened to Nickel Creek, then you should put them on your fast track of great bands and great music...Rodney Crowell as well. Thanks!

This is probably as good as it gets from them although their more commercial hits are still better than most!! Thank you to whoever sponsored this!! Welcome to LRB!
