Gentlemen, the guitar player playing all the leads and solo is Ric Formosa. There is an interview with him on RUclips and he explained that he had the flu and when they recorded this song, it was done on one take. He said if he did it right the first time he could go home because he was sick....... Wow... right?
@j.h.3777 We had a progressive, album rock station in Birmingham AL at that time and they always played the longer LP version instead of the radio edit version.
I was 16 years old (1976) when this song dropped. On my way to work, listening to the radio, this song was playing, and I had to pull to the side of the road to get good reception. I was late for work because this music was more important to me than my job. ha ha! (I didn't lose my job, thank goodness). Thanks, guys, for your superb reactions! LRB and INXS were two great Australian bands that I still listen to today.
One of Australia's greatest exports in the music business. I saw them in the UK at the Liverpool university one evening when they were on their promotional tour in 1977. Other great songs are, 'Curiosity Killed The Cat', 'Reminiscing', 'Lady' and 'Night Owls'. Thanks La and Che. ✌
I was lucky to hear the LP version of this and a lot of other great music on a progressive, album rock station in Birmingham AL as a teenager in the 70's. K99, WRKK and they have a FB page now.
This was stunning when I first heard it on FM radio in 1976-77, an 8 minute epic on their DEBUT album!! I also was shocked to find out they were from Australia!! I could have sworn they were midwest or even Southern jam rock. An FM RADIO CLASSIC.
Hearing them play this live was an incredible experience. An outdoor show with the mountains visible across the inlet, behind the stage and the sun setting to our left. These harmonies are even more glorious in person and from twenty feet away. ♥
Shout out to Ric Formosa for his lead work here. Did the guitar recording on the first take, mainly because he was ill and needed to get home. The harmonies of the voices and the instruments is top shelf.
One of the best of the "soft rock" bands of the 70s. Great writing, great musicianship. All songs puttogether sooooo well. Add topnotch vocals and you get good, solid listening music.
One of the first concerts my older sibs took me to was LRB, Steve Miller Band, and Jimmy Buffet in the Old Miami baseball stadium in the early/mid 70’s. I was 7 and was changed forever. Been a concert goer ever since
So fricking good !! One of my faves !! I used to wait all day to hear it on th radio..... Anyone remember those daze ??? Thx guys, You r discovering some amazing music !!
One of my favorite bands! In 1973 to 1977, I was 8 to 12 years old; just starting my journey into music and appreciating it! In 1970 my first group was Chicago and their album Chicago 2, they are extremely important to me!, Eagles (Debut in 1972.) Then came: Spyro Gyra(Jazz) Catching The Sun album, Little River Band Band (Sleeper Catcher), George Benson (Weekend In L.A.), Boston(Debut album in 1976), Kansas(Leftoverture), Styx ( Grand Illusion in 1977), Player Debut in 1977, Toto(Debut in 1978), R.E.O. Speedwagon (You Can Tune A Fish...album in 1978) Ambrosisia (Life Beyond LA in 1978), ACDC (Highway To Hell album in 1979 and Back in Black in 1980), Rush (Permanent Waves in 1980), and Journey (Departure in 1980.) Great start to my music collection! MTV first aired August 1st, 1981 where I learned about newer artists( some I liked some I didn't) All in all a great dive onto music! Little River Band, phenomenal!
Another great Aussie band that blew us away with this first track, on their first album. Love the 70's. Thanks for a great reaction, too true. Suggest also check out INXS (pronounced in-excess). Other Aussie greats include: AC/DC, Bee Gees, John Farnham, Black Sorrows, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, and so on... Cheers from Sydney, AU.
Greetings from Sydney, I remeber sitting in my bedroom with a friend in the 70"s learning this song. The next step was the garage band. Thanks for the memories.
You can't go wrong with this banger of an Australian band absolutely fantastic all of their music I love them to bits. Great harmonising. Full of great rhythm! You need to keep going down this rabbit hole for sure. Glenn Shorrock the singer is absolutely fire!!!!!! He has been around a long time. He was in the group Axiom, they had some great songs back in the day "My Baby's Gone" "Arkansas Grass" "Little Ray of Sunshine" fantastico!!!!! Will always listen to them I grew up listening to them from their early days to recents. A very big fan of theirs for sure!
Back in the day, I never gave this song its due. That was really enjoyable, can't wait to listen to it in my car! You guys are comfort food for me--al the best to your family.
Thank you for playing this ! Amazing Song 🎵 I've thrown this up about 3 times over the past year and I'm so glad you guys got to hear it ! So thank you for that !
Thank you so much for digging up the old gold and jewels like this song! You two always appreciate the technical and artistic nuances of the great music!
WOW! I've been listening to this song ever since it came out and I have never heard this version. One of my favorite bands. And probably my favorite song. I saw them live many times and they always put on a great show.
This is a fantastic song. This is one of those songs when you have a badass sound system and you want to drop the needle on a track just to enjoy how good it sounds.
Little River Band has been called the Austrian Eagles because of their harmonies and great instrumentation. Great band, seen this version of them in 77 and a new version of them a couple months ago on a cruise ship in the Bahamas. Always great!
You gotta watch “Birtles, Shorrock and Goble” perform this live. It’s the 3 dudes singing and harmonizing fast forwarded to today. They still sound amazing.
Great tune guys! Next LRB, check out LIGHT OF DAY (another long one, about 8 min, great musicianship) and then COOL CHANGE, more traditional big radio hit, great tune w great harmonies.
Probably my favorite Little River Band song. Thanks guys!
Mine too! Great song!
Absolutely it's not even close
@Hawks438
LIGHT OF DAY us right up there with this one.
Gentlemen, the guitar player playing all the leads and solo is Ric Formosa. There is an interview with him on RUclips and he explained that he had the flu and when they recorded this song, it was done on one take. He said if he did it right the first time he could go home because he was sick....... Wow... right?
Yes, WOW. Thank you for sharing. What a legend
They never got the kudos they deserved
This song should be mentioned in the same sentence as Carry On Wayward Son, More than a Feeling and all the other "Classic Rock" songs of the era!!
I've heard of those songs but have never heard of this one. Guess they didn't play it everywhere.
You are correct. They were a great band and this one is outstanding
@j.h.3777 We had a progressive, album rock station in Birmingham AL at that time and they always played the longer LP version instead of the radio edit version.
Their masterpiece 💯
What about LIGHT OF DAY?
@@kbrewski1 Yes - Also a Masterpiece and the Lyrics are singing about Jesus - the "Light of Day".
I turned 17 that fall... my Junior year of H.S. 😏
Love your story. I bet you went out after work and bought the 8 track. JUST KIDDING. I had the crappy(sound)cassette.😂❤
@@penelopehornswaggle102 lol. I DID go buy the album at lunchtime.
Masterpiece - that is all.
One of the most underrated song ever I love it
That point in time was truly magical To say the least.
LRB were the Australian version of the Eagles. Every single member a masterful musician & vocalist.
LRB = great vocals, great harmonies, and serious musicianship - classic late 70s/80s soft rock.
The 70s just doled out one great song after another and they were so distinctive from each other. What a great time to be alive!
This song is an absolute masterpiece, a true Diamond that I wish more people knew about! Great choice
A favorite little river band song from my favorite reactors.
My favorite LRB song. One of the greatest all-time creations!
These Aussies killed it at the perfect time. Caught an outdoor show in Vancouver ('78?) - total pros.
You saw the Summer Sunday show at Empire Stadium. Wasn’t Heart the headliner that August day?
@@hklinker That's the one!
LOVE this song.... and the thing is, they are just as tight live. Great band.
Yes! Saw them live in 1980, and one of the most musically perfect shows (especially vocally) I've ever heard.
Several hit songs in the late 70's/early 80's. No one else like them. Just beautiful! Go Aussie's!
This is an incredible track. Thanks for bringing it to your channel guys.
I'd never heard that song before. Wow! That was awesome!!!
It’s been decades since I have heard this. Great soft rock classic. Cheers.
Definitely a under appreciated band, great songs and harmonies
What a beautiful sound.I can’t believe I’ve never heard it before.
Haven't heard in a million years. Lovely 😊
The radio version was so hacked up, people really missed out on how awesome this song is. I've always loved LRB!!
I was lucky to hear the LP version of this and a lot of other great music on a progressive, album rock station in Birmingham AL as a teenager in the 70's. K99, WRKK and they have a FB page now.

Thanks for sharing I had not heard this before. Other bands in this genre are Poco, Firefall, and America.

Fantastic song. It has everything, great guitar work, vocals, harmonies, bit of funk, bit of rock n roll.
Thank you! More reactors need to do this one!
....not bad for the first song on their debut album!!!

Some of the best ever soft/yacht rock! Love LRB!!! 🎶💖
Opening song on a debut album.....stunning!
Definitely my fav hidden gem. GREAT road trip tune! It's nearly a continuous lead guitar solo
Hearing them play this live was an incredible experience. An outdoor show with the mountains visible across the inlet, behind the stage and the sun setting to our left. These harmonies are even more glorious in person and from twenty feet away. ♥
All their songs are great harmonies!

Wow, what a great song-thanks for the memories and great reaction!
I have seen them 3 times and never let down, great vocals and Harmonys and Guitar work.

This song is no doubt an absolute masterpiece! Epic epic EPIC track!!!
It’s been a while since I listened to this. Thanks for reminding me how great of a song it is.
these guys are musicians. their music and harmony are so pure

✨Loved How This Was so Musically Soothing, & The Harmonizing Parts Are Outstanding ❕✨💖✨
This is such a well executed song in every way. It's my Go to feel good song cuz it just makes me feel sooooooo good!
Happy Anniversary is a total funk sound by them

The band was named after a small town called "Little River". It is located here in the state of Victoria, Australia.
Little River, SC
You guys are the best, I’ve been waiting and asking for this all over for awhile💜
LRB is referenced in the movie ‘The Other Guys’, very funny!
But seriously these guys are epic musicians and their harmonies are next level ✌🏻
This is a fantastic song. This is one of those songs when you have a badass sound system and you want to drop the needle on a track just to enjoy how good it sounds.
LOVVVVVE this song 😅
Little River Band has been called the Austrian Eagles because of their harmonies and great instrumentation. Great band, seen this version of them in 77 and a new version of them a couple months ago on a cruise ship in the Bahamas. Always great!

Can't go wrong with LRB. Such great harmonies and well-crafted songs.
LOTS to choose from and to enjoy with THIS group ❤
Probably my favorite by them. Have their first 2 albums.
A LOT of money was spent on this album. You can just tell by the production and engineering values. Beautiful. I loved it then, I still love It now...
The melodic guitar soloing is impeccable. Proof you don’t need to be a shredder to make amazing guitar music.
