Aussie legends and rightfully so and this is definitely the song to start with (it opens all their compilations and live shows, as well as the debut album itself) - glad you didn't think it was too long, or I might have had to have words, ha! Some fun facts for ya, their 1977 album Diamantina Cocktail was the first album by an Aussie band to go gold in the US, the next one, Sleeper Catcher (Reminiscing's parent album), did even better, becoming the first Aussie album to not only go platinum in the US but to sell a million copies *anywhere*. Billboard also honoured them for being the ONLY act to score a US top 10 single every year between 1978 and 1982.
Shawn, I've heard of this band but not familiar with their music. The facts you research and share reveals some measure of success for this band. The intro has a big orchestral sound, then the song shifts into a catchy tempo. The lead guitar is fantastic. Cool drum,s and the vocals are clear with nice harmonies. I agree, it has a smooth sound. This song has a pleasant melody. The instrumentation is fantastic. One of the best guitar solos I have heard. I agree, a grand song. This is an epic. The lyrics are meaningful, and you did a great job on the breakdown of the meaning., and the music. I like your sentiments and reflection on life. Wow, what a way to start their career, the album opener on their debut album. Great song choice Anna.
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Lol You are right Shawn. This is an epic classic. They don't make this kind of music now. Just like us, we are not from the now generation. Lol
@@ReactionsToTheClassics thanks for making old people feel like one of the most important things of their past as relevant ! We love it and wish it to be shared . It was a great time of musical art using the classic styles .
Very underrated band. Saw them live at the fox theater in Atlanta in 1979. Best concert ever. "Light of Day" is another "long" song that doesn't feel long. I spend my life with the immigrants and the ramblers, I drink my wine with the middle men and the gamblers, I spend my time with friends I've never known... But when I dream I dream alone.
They are my home town band an I think many Aussie bands are severely underrated throughout the entire earth eg inxs Australian crawl (my fav aussie band) men at work cold chisel etc etc, another brilliant track by LRB is curiosity killed the cat&Lady.
Hey there, new subscriber here. Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed going down memory lane with this song, and your reaction to this great. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Such an excellent request. This was one of the best. You must revisit "Reminiscing" even if you know it well 😉 "Cool Change" is another favorite of mine.
This is still one of my favorite LRB songs. Almost a progressive pop, if thats a genre. The positive nature of their lyrics also caught my attention when i was a teenager. Their album First Under the Wire has a deep cut called Middle Man which is worth the investment of time to listen to.
Great reaction. This was the 3rd single released in Australia. "Curiosity killed the cat" was the first single. It's very funky and well worth a listen.
Heard this song for the first time when i was 13., hit me like a hammer. This song revered to all my musical feelings, instrumental, production, harmonics. It's still my favorite song ever. Thanks so much for your great reaction. This is the song they play when i'm leaving this earth soon. X
My favorite song by Little River Band. Love all the instrumentation it’s fantastic and the harmonies as well! I love a lot of there songs. Wishing I could have seen them in concert when they were all in the band. Now I don’t think anyone is in the band. Does anyone know for sure?
If you could listen to LRB song “Redheaded Wildflower” you would love the guitars and harmonies, not one of their singles but always mentioned as a fan and follower fave, thanks for this!
@@ReactionsToTheClassicsThey had so many great songs. You must listen to Light of Day, another long one but awesome. If you want to hear them rock out, check out Meanwhile which was on that first album too. It rocks.
I’m subscribed to the channel of Shorrock Birtles Goble Little River Band Founders. They have content from later years and they still sound this good. This is the original line up but John Farnham did have a stint as lead singer. One of our earliest Aussie exports to make it outside of Oz. They do have a great catalogue but are just as good live.
Ok so you have just started to hear Glenn’s vocals. You seem very intelligent musically. Listening intently Analysing well I can see. I expect you will love it. Masterpiece
@@ReactionsToTheClassics as many live streams and super chats you've gone through it would be hard to remember everything unless you kept the notes of all the songs done and when they were played. The guitar player on their first two albums was Italian Ric Formosa. He had a bluesy guitar sound. Their guitarists after Ric were also good but not as bluesy. I have an affinity for bluesy players and love the guitar work on this song.
That's the best song they ever recorded as far as I'm concerned. They had higher charting songs, but they weren't as good as this one. That's the 'thundering Heard' for ya. They know two things about music, jack and shit.
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Let's see you've reviewed INXS, twice, Icehouse, The Little River Band and Silverchair, I think? Have reviewed Crowded House or Midnight Oil yet? How about Air Supply? I probably would die on the plane trip haha, i have severe arthritis so not sure the plane for that long would work. No Midnight Oil, Crowded house - yes. Air Supply no BUT they were my 1st concert when i was i was in 4th grade haha
@@ReactionsToTheClassics It's a long plane trip let me tell you. I flew to Melbourne from Los Angeles. It was 16 hs and, I flew coach. It's funny to know that Air Supply was your first concert. Mine was INXS. Gotta love those Aussies💖

Beautiful harmonies. Great blending of guitar sounds. Brilliant arrangement. My favourite LRB song. Always loved Glen Shorrock's voice.

The Eagles called them the greatest ever singing band.

1988 Tour, Glenn Frey returned with them to Australia to join them. He loved their sound and prefered it.

Glen Shorrock singing lead and Beeb Birtles on guitar and those high range vocals. RIP

What are talking about RIP? He just turned 80 years old!
Not only that he was the first and best lead singer of LRB.
Saw them live in '77 in their early days in Melbourne....they were sublime.
I would bet they were unreal back then!
