Always loved the Albright knot , but your "tune up " of the knot makes it even better. Tried the "Knot Right " version today and loved it. Thanks for the info.
Good demonstration but for me, I prefer my FG Knot especially with my rods that have microguides. It took practice but I've perfected my tieing technique where as I can tie it quickly and correctly. Another great video Chad! 👍
man I was researching leader knots for a tourney this saturday. I tried the FG knot 5 times and it slipped through every time. this is so much easier and seems to be holding as hard as I can I pull it. Easy to tie in a kayak too. Thanks man!
@@kenmaylin4744 yeah, that’s the problem. The fg knot doesn’t work well on those lighter lines like that. For those lighter lines, use the blood knot. It works great, and it’s a super strong knot once you learn it.
I like that ! Great video thanks chad! And thank you for donating one of your kayaks to John’s channel! The only problem is that I didn’t win it. Keep up the great work brother!!
Thanks for the awesome video, hubby and I have been watching you for a few months, we just bought 2 of the hobie PA14 Ike editions as our first fishing kayaks and I am a beginner to all things fishing so the rope demo was very easy for me to watch and learn. Also loved the PFD video with your wife, that helped us decide on our chinook/shenooks, would love to see more hubby/wife videos!
I have trouble tying a double Uni knot (old eyes) and have hence been tying my braid directly to my hooks for fishing a Senko. I do ok but think I should be getting more bites. Tried this knot and got it right the first time. I think this is gonna be a game changer for me. Thanks as always for sharing your knowledge Chad. God bless. Don
Just started getting decent at FG I will gladly go back to this. I will say putting effort into learning FG has probably made me a better at tying knots than I was and like it’s movement through guides but it’s got a lot to it and if you screw up, it will fail when you hook up. So I am going to give this improved Hoover knot a go and see how it does for me through the guides. What brand clippers and retractor you got going on your Chinook?
Fg is truly the best once you learn. I avoided it for a long time due to difficulty, but once you master it, it’s quick, and absolutely bomb proof. Depends on how dedicated you are.
Thanks for the great video Chad. My question is how long of a leader are you using that the knot is your strike indicator? You cant be fishing that shallow everywhere.
Chad does it right: Uses his nail clippers not just on his knots, but also on his hands 🙌 🪢 Some of you fisherman really need to take a page out of his book 🤣👍
I'm confused. You said to go back through the loop with the tag end that you went through with the main line but in the opposite direction. But, you went through it in the same direction. Sorry I'm dumb.

Thanks, Glad I could help.
Thank you for sharing. Lost a nice fish in lily pads last week. Looking for a better knot.
I tie a uni to uni in most any scenario but don't always have complete faith in it. Im going to try this. Thanks Chad!
Great information. I'm gonna use it

It all depends on what line diameter you’re using. 10 lb test and up, the fg knot is money. Lighter lines, the blood knot is best. Learn your knots.
@@progradepainting3755 i was using 6-8 lb test

Thanks for the feedback, that is exactly the idea behind this knot.
Awesome I’m gonna try that out. I always thought that fraying the line weakens it? Thanks Chad, you rock!
It does. Fraying the tag end serves as a strike indicator and also keeps the half hitches from unraveling
@@ChadHooverFishing Thanks, I’m excited to try that out this weekend. Thanks for teaching, you rock!
You've always got a great way of explaining things great job Chad! keep up the great work
Good Stuff! Thanks!
Great video. Thank you. When are you going to make more family fishing videos? They are fun to watch.
Thanks man, I saw where I have been doing it wrong 😉👍👊 Strong knot for sure 💪😎
Thanks Chad! A strong reliable knot even I can tie!
I agree that is the best knot. Because it is alot easier than the fg. If I was a professional maybe I would use the fg.
Great video - looks like an easier knot than the FG -- will definitely try it
Once you learn the fg knot, it truly is easy, and the best knot you can tie.
Great video. Another simple knot which I use is the Red Phillips knot. What are you thoughts on this?

I prefer the Crazy Alberto knot, but the mod albright knot is quite solid.

Palomar to improved clinch knot with a swivel in between.
Thanks for the great video Chad. My question is how long of a leader are you using that the knot is your strike indicator? You cant be fishing that shallow everywhere.
About 6 inches less than the length from the rod tip to the hook keeper is what I use and I think I based that on Chad's info on another video.
If you had to pick just one lure to use, in general, everywhere you fish, what would it be? I think I'd go with a chatterbait.
Senko
Chad Hoover agree. Don't know of a better bass lure ...
@@MrIndyjoe wacky rig?

One of those knots that you just might remember.
Instead of half hitch, I go a step further and use a Rizzuto knot (whip finish for fly tyers)... it won't come unraveled like a half hitch can

I actually took the main line back through in the opposite direction through the loop that was made by the leader material
@@ChadHooverFishing thanks for the reply Chad
I use the FG knot but it’s been a f*ckin journey lol
Yeap and if tied even slightly wrong it will cut itself
Fg knot, hands down. I can tie an fg knot in under 3 minutes. Just takes a little practice.
Three minutes? Good laaawwwd. If I’m not trying to video and explain it I tie this one in about 15-20 secs.
@@ChadHooverFishing I’ll take a little extra time for the integrity of the knot. I’m not sweating a couple extra minutes dude.
@@ChadHooverFishing show us the 15 second knot though. It would make a good video.👍

Way easier than the FG knot.
Look at all that leader waste. Double uni ftw
I like the double uni as well. Hasn’t failed me yet.
