  • This video is an overall build of my old 1993 Toyota Hilux LN106.
I originally bought the car complete and was driving it for a couple of years before I rolled it out in Pine Creek Near Bundaberg.
I then bought another chassis and cab and started transferring the engine and diffs etc into the new cab and chassis.
And this is where I decided to start the video.
Unfortunately, some photos were lost from an old laptop, so you don't get to see the progress of the tray or the paint.
But you do still get to see a lot that happened, before and after.
I ended up owning and building the car over a 7 year period.
I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any questions just comment below.

Awesome build mate, giving me some inspiration for my lux. Nice robot welds too!
Didn’t expect that ending but :(

Thanks for the compliment mate! My welds have always been my pride.
It's a sad ending isn't It! But atleast it eventually got to good hands on the 2nd owner after me!

Hey did you still have the 2.8 3l engine in it and if so how did it perform with larger tyres? I have the exact vehicle and its basically like new with only 100,000 km on the clock and not a scratch on the paint work etc. It currently has the factory 28 inch split rim tyres and considering upgrading to 31's but worried about the loss of power ill have.

Hey mate! Yep, that's the 2.8L engine in it. It just had a snorkel, K&N air filter, extractors, and a 2 1/4 inch exhaust that split into two 2 inch pipes running under either side of the tray.
To be honest, I don't think I felt too much of a power loss. I had 31s on there at one stage too and it still went pretty well for 2.8L. You can't expect too much from the engines power wise but you can expect them to last a very long time. The only real power upgrade you can make is installing a turbo and supporting modifications for the turbo. Some people have reground the camshaft and installed new shims to suit, but it's not a massive power increase.

Hey mate. The extractors came on the car when I bought it (about 10 years ago). So I'm not sure what brand they were sorry.

At the time, I think there was 3 options, I opted for the one with the least amount of leaves for flex. Eventually as I built the tray and added more accessories, I should've added another leaf.
