Tera Low transfer case gears are one of the best things I did to my Isuzu after I went to 33's. So much more control and not nearly as much clutch use.
A dimable LED light strip under the bonnet is a great cheap mod. I doubt you'll have any issues with the mighty 2.8 but it's so handy to have good light under the bonnet if you're stuck somewhere after dark. Also handy for a bit of ambient light at camp, makes stumbling back to your swag just a little easier.
The Pony is coming out really good. A turbo would make it better when mudding and sand driving. Bar work is essential, especially a rockslider and a high mounted rear bumper (cut the lower section of the bed) ... but something that i would definitely do is a RUF conversion with high steer, so you get rid of the stock steering system that´s not very reliable. Kind regards form Brazil.
Since getting absolutely obsessed with this channel a few weeks back and consuming every video they've made, Jocko's my favourite. Really good explanations, funny and just seems like a top bloke.
I hope you fixed or raised the vent tubes from the axles, transfer case and trans to avoid water getting in during the next inevitable water crossing! Cheap mod... delete the entire hitch receiver tube and weld on some recovery points/D Rings or whatever to the hitch cross bar. Maybe trim the rear bumper mounts to tuck the rear bumper in a little too. Great video!

To get that tow hitch box section out now you have cut it, just weld the inside of the box section that’s seized which will shrink the whole box section and also heat it. It should easily tap out then.

Here is a easy mod, that hitch you cut off use a electric metal saw and cut in to the corners then use a air hammer and I bet it comes out then you can install a recovery point! I have done this many times at my work for customers.
A nice budget helper here in the states for the braided brake line is boat trailer brake lines. They come all kinds of lengths and are very affordable. You will have to re-flare you hard lines, but for $15 for 2 foot lines are worth it. Done it on a few budget projects and have lasted years of trail abuse. And they’re sold almost everywhere!
I think you can cut the rest of the tubing out of the receiver hitch just by taking the the blade out of a hack saw sticking it through and connecting it back to the handle.
Hey Jocko. Just a suggestion to help remove the old hitch from your towbar, a coal chisel and lump hammer might help to shrink it and allow you to ultimately get it out.
Interested to know what power mods you will do for the NA motor. What will you do for power mods Jocko?!! Exhuast system/ tune/bigger intake or highflow filter ??.
I, just earlier this summer, wanted to remove the ball hitch from my truck that had been on the truck since 2006 (rust belt USA). I had to remove the entire hitch from my truck and enlist a 20ton shop press to get the ball hitch pressed out. 4ton power pack had no effect. Just saw yours is hollow, mine is solid forging. Probably different removal process anyway here.
On the ifs hub swap, in the US we lathe down the outside of the wheel mounting surfaces till a Toyota Tacoma brake rotor slips right over. Then you use toyota Matrix wheel lugs, and the rotor is now floating.
If you´re gonna do bar work, judging on previous events, cheap addition - maybe fit a couple of rollover bars coming off the sliders. Might save the roof/windscreen etc. in future!
You go ahead and plan regear the axle, and 4.88 with a selectable locker in the front for better steering, replace the birfs with rcvs, and the steering to high steer, got to six shooter knucklers from trail gear with the high steer kit. Just saying

I love the pony. I wanna get a Toyota pickup to build so bad haha. I used to have a 1991 Toyota pickup I hated to rid of it but the frame and body got too rough and ended up junking it. It had 287,000 miles on it an still ran great. Had a small lift with 31" tires with rims like yours but mine was white instead of being black.

It's not an easy or cheap mod...but a link suspension setup for the front! Leafs just don't have the flex that you would get with links and coil springs - there is more flex to be had at this ride height. Also, since you widened the track, does the crystal ball see fender trimming in your future? I heard a lot of tire rubbing!
Would love to see a full diff/transmission breather kit installed amongst your next mods to keep the water out of all that fine work you guys have just done! Whats involved ? what to look for in a good kit etc... Also would love to see the Pony up against Shaunos new 200 series as well at some point too!!
I reckon invest in a turbo kit or a rear inversion bar for the shocks (I reckon Matt can fab something up when your doing the bar work at Kinsealas Kustoms)
When i bought my 105 the tow hitch was seized in, ended up removing the whole tow bar, put it in a vise and hit vertically with a sledge hammer, that got it out.
I’d Choose the Pony Lux the only things I’d change on the Pony lux are LS1 Supercharger On 35” Tyres with Diff Drop Solid Axle Swap Portals and Bar Work

This maybe a stuiped question but I'm in the process of acquiring the parts needed for the wide track conversion and cannot find much information, question being what makes and model hilux diffs am I able to use for the rear end and what makes and models for the ifs hubs can be used I'd like to know a scope of it every make and model that I can use parts off only get vague info on that aspect
To be honest, I can't say I like the new style of show guys, I know it's hard now with COVID restrictions and all but I love seeing the trips away and goofy stuff Shauno and Graham get up to. Builds should be a second stream not the main theme of the show.
As a German it is quite amazing to see what you can do to your vehicle without registering or testing it at some official place. Guess I Gitta change the country ...

Stick a Sawzall in the hitch receiver and split square tube in half. Air chisel it out and then you can use the hitch.

The Pony Lux is just like my 92 4x4 dual cab Mitsub Triton (manual petrol 4cyl) :P Under 5k in total for vehicle, rego and some mods = unstoppable

I didn’t realize Marc Rebillet also worked on hilux tranny’s!
I do diff and gear box brothers so don't suck water. In bughet type get same vacuum or fuel hose make hose longer from diffs and gear box.

There is no issue with wheel spacers if they are good quality, they put the same load on wheel bearings as a higher offset wheel of equal measurements
