This is a totally foreign concept; however, I'm giving it a try. I guess because my Compac is a 61 series and not 60, nothing was as you explained, but you explanation was clear enough that I think it's working. I will repost once it complete.

Hi, this is a great video - I've tried it but when I go to try the recovery manager page it tells me my laptop is on battery power & needs to be plugged into an AC power outlet. It is definitely plugged in, but it won't let me proceed. The cable & transformer look and smell fine. Any ideas on how to fix this please?
good job

+Adrian Gonzalez updating your graphics drivers would be the first step to help with FPS after you do clean install.
I click f11 on mine and it says recovery mode then just starts up like normal:( any advice?
***** Yup you will need to get a win7 dvd your partition could be bad, you can look within windows and check to see if it can reload via windows. just type in recovery or something like that.
Good old windows7 beta background
I happen to me the same thing, but it fails to appear at HP . What can I do?
+Ana Cabrera Get disc and do a clean install.
Wen i do this it wont take me there it keep taking me to repair thing
i have Compaq A900 help me i don't have CD of Windows plz help me
buy CD off amazon or ebay simplest way
Apparently my partition is corrupt as you suggested to others because when I press F11 on boot up it will make that noise but then Windows will load normally. I found my way (through F8 then "repair my computer") to "Choose a recovery tool" but there is no restore to factory settings option. My options are as follows:*Startup repair*System Restore (which doesn't give a factory settings option, only "Restore Windows to an earlier point in time" and the earliest date given as an option is two months ago)*System Image Recovery *Windows Memory Diagnostic*Command PromptI even made the system restore disc but it gives me the same options as above. How to I restore to FACTORY settings? Please help!!!
System image Recovery is the option you should select.
tnk
You need the disc to recover it?
only if recovery partition isn't working.
+biggonyou : Computer Whisperer it isn't. Do you have any idea where I can get a copy of it? Can I download it off of the Internet in an Apple MacBook so I can fix a Compaq 515? Is that possible?
i tred to follow but geting diferent page
what if you upgraded to windows 10
I second this motion. I want to go back to factory condition and go back to Windows 7. Windows 10 does not run well on this machine. :(
My Compaq says 'Window Error Recovery' every time I click F11
Not uncommon recovery partition is corrupt, just get try this trappedonplanet.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2014-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&updated-max=2015-01-01T00:00:00-08:00&max-results=5
also get your hands on a copy of windows.

It's been on 1% for the longest
That means your partition is corrupt, you will have to try and create a backup disc from within windows, or get a copy of windows and drivers to reload computer.
Your partition (recovery) may be corrupt, you will need to get a Dvd to restore as stated in video.
