If the password change command does not work try the following command: control userpasswords2

Thank you, having just lost my dog (he had a stroke 12 1/2 years old) I needed to get into a very old computer to get pictures that were not backed up. Problem is I let someone use the computer who was down on his luck. The password was changed and that person suddenly disappeared one day ,never to be heard from again. Yes, press F8 when Windows is booting or, what I did recently is use the Restore/Installation CD that comes with Windows (Dell computers often have restore CD's) l to run the installation and during installation select Repair
First, i would like to thank you for responding. Second, i will try that as i have the disc. So, pop in the disc u and will it automatically bring me to a screen where i can click the option "launch repair"

Dude,well in 2015-2016, I was dumbass and I didn't knew English. I MISTAKENLY added an account as an administrator and I don't recall how I did it but I cancelled out the keyboard. So when I'm at the login part,My keyboard just disappears. Now, I'm going to try this WITHOUT A KEYBOARD!!!

Six years ago I bought my girlfriend a laptop when she needed one but had no money. Two months ago she passed away from breast cancer and after going through her house with her brother I found the computer and took possession of it. Weeks later I tried to sign on with the old password that I knew she used and sure enough, she had changed it. After spending an hour trying to guess it I finally gave up and went to RUclips. I followed this guys procedures step by step and within minutes I was in. In the words of my late girlfriend, "Thank ya, Thank ya, Thank ya" done with a fine southern lady's accent.

Sorry about your loss, There is another easy way . Get a ..Password recovery disk. Just run the disk and it goes into DOS. Then the password comes up. Can't remember the name of the program..but there are a few....Hope this helps next time . If there will be a next time

well win 8 is hell compared to this, i'm having to copy the hard drive to another image or disk and then edit it then recopy it back over edited. Unless there is some other way, I've been looking for the last day to find a way other than disassembly and reassembly.

Thanks buddy! Huge help!! Like many others on here, my father passed away back in January so I took possession of his laptop. The only reason it didn't get tossed was because of all of the memories I knew were locked away on it. Anyways, here we are in June and thanks to you I was finally able to access it. I can't thank you enough! Factory reset wasn't an option. I did have a few issues through your process (probably due to operator error) in which the laptop would go straight to the Windows 7 sign on screen again after waiting the 10 minutes for file/system(whatever) recovery window but on my 3rd attempt it finally brought up the report error screen in which I was able to access files and so on. You have helped so many. If you have any advice on where to dumpster dive and land some decent scores instead of just trash and junk let me know. Thanks again man.
