If the password change command does not work try the following command: control userpasswords2

Thanks for your tutorial it worked great, but now I have run into a problem where when I try to type certain characters, something strange happens, like for example I try to type the number 2, and it pops up internet explorer but doesn't type the character. Same thing for other keys, like it'll bring up control panel or something when I hit another key but it won't type the character that corresponds with that key. Might this be due to this hack in your tutorial? Or some unrelated problem? I tried plugging in an external keyboard but doesn't seem to help. Very grateful for your help 🙏

Yes, press F8 when Windows is booting or, what I did recently is use the Restore/Installation CD that comes with Windows (Dell computers often have restore CD's) l to run the installation and during installation select Repair
First, i would like to thank you for responding. Second, i will try that as i have the disc. So, pop in the disc u and will it automatically bring me to a screen where i can click the option "launch repair"

can you please tell me How you Got "Lunch Start up Repair " Option .. When i shut down i got many option like Safe Mode , Start with Safe Networking Mode and Normal Start etc but Lunch Startup Repair Option is not available in MY case

I had to attempt 3x of shutting down as it did not prompt the screen you mentioned. Interestingly, in the 3rd try, it prompted me to change my password. It worked! Thanks for the power shutdown suggestion.

well win 8 is hell compared to this, i'm having to copy the hard drive to another image or disk and then edit it then recopy it back over edited. Unless there is some other way, I've been looking for the last day to find a way other than disassembly and reassembly.

Thank you, having just lost my dog (he had a stroke 12 1/2 years old) I needed to get into a very old computer to get pictures that were not backed up. Problem is I let someone use the computer who was down on his luck. The password was changed and that person suddenly disappeared one day ,never to be heard from again. I'm so happy to hear that this worked for so many people. Unfortunately I am not one of them. My computer comes up with a different startup menu and does not give me the same options as I see all the screen in this tutorial. As a songwriter with a lot of original songs on this computer it's very disheartening and hurtful that I am locked out of it. I suspect I've been hacked
Dosn`t work for me either but you can always put the harddrive in an other computer to save your files. And then start to use som kind of backup å sync to the cloud like google drive, dropbox å onedrive so it don`t happens again =)

Actually was able to get it running only to find it password protected and I forgot it. This video was very in depth but at the same time easy to follow. It worked great on the first try.
