I have returned to instructing after over 6½ years as an examiner. I also teach commentary driving but my main reason for commenting is that, one of the best drives I ever had as an examiner was a lady commentary driving. It was that good I was looking for cameras and an ear piece. If you are wondering if Commentary driving works, trust me it does, and for all the reasons mentioned in the video clip.
My last instructor told me not to narrate because it makes people nervous but my new Instructor said it’s the contrary because it’s good to let the examiner know what you’re doing. I’m so glad I found this video!
I did this on my test today at Bromley test centre and passed with 0 faults 🥳 watched loads of your videos over the past few months and they helped massively! Thank you!
Whoop!! Love Bromley 😊 congrats natalie that’s an incredible result you and your instructor must be over the moon!
Hats off to you. I have my test tomorrow.
Wow congratulations 🎊 Natalie thats excellent 👏 😊xx
You are spot on! I suffer with anxiety and I do commentary naturally to help calm me and keep my mind in the present and remember what I need to do. Thank you for this video. Really appreciate it.
Thank you do much!
This helped me to calm my nerves and pass my test today!
Brilliant!
I passed my driving exam today using this technique!! (After 2 previously failed exams and constantly feeling insecure). I knew about this technique before, but you explain and demonstrate it in a totally different way, so useful! Thank you very much for this video ❤
My examiner was an ex police officer and he told me that my commentary driving (which I did thanks to finding you) was amazing and better than alot of police officers that have to do it when they’re driving.
It really does work ❤thank you
The Diary of a CEO intro was funny as hell 😂
passed first time with 2 minors this afternoon! thank you for all your videos, the mock tests especially:)
Congrats Katie amazing result!! Well done hope you get to enjoy that license on a solo drive soon!
Hi Francis, just wanted to say a massive thank you for your amazing videos. I just passed first time with 0 minors this afternoon at Bromley test centre - still can't believe it! Your videos have been such a massive help to me, love your passion and enthusiasm and everything communicated so brilliantly. Thanks again!
Woah that’s such a good result you absolutely aced it!! You must be buzzing! Hope you’re out there enjoying that license already!
Hi I passed my test today and I want to say this technique is definitely useful. I believe the examiner felt much more safe when he knew what I'm actually observing. Thanks for teaching us driving in such fun way! Wish everyone safe driving!
Used this method during my test last month and passed with a few minors (+ loads of your videos too). Thanks for all your great work on this channel & would honestly recommend them to anyone watching (from an ex-anxious, panicky driver). Cheers Francis & the team.
Love this!! Congrats on passing 🤩
@@DrivingSchoolTV Cheers and you’re deffo in my top 3 driving channels on YT 😂 and happy to be part of the passed-but-still-watching club. Always more to learn.
Francis thank you so much for all the videos, I took my test today in Huddersfield and passed first time! 5 minors!! These videos were FANTASTIC and helped me massively!! Also Kudos to your enthusiasm, absolutely love your energy!
Thank you so much James! Absolute love the message and congrats on passing in Huddersfield 🤩
Yea talking to myself and telling myself what's going on on the road keeps me focused on what I need to be doing
Just got recommended this after my test, which i passed with 3 minors. I'm glad to admit I did this naturally on my own! This video will definitely help out anyone learning. good luck
Did my driving test today and passed with 2 minors! Thanks so much for all these videos, they’ve been a great help! 👍🏻
Passed my test today with this technique with 2 minors. This was my second attempt. My cousin passed with same technique as well. This really works!! Thank you for this fantastic video!
Yaaaassss amazing!!! Love this message 🤩🥳🙌
Just to let you know I passed my driving test first time with NO Faults 🎉thanks for all your videos. I did the commentary driving. The Examiner was so friendly we were chatting about family and life like we knew each other!! Amazing 🤩
Thank you so much for posting this tips, I did the same on my driving test and passed 1st time despite having 7 minors. Big thanks.
Whoooop that’s what we like to hear!!! 👌👏😍
Just passed my test in Morden. Thank you Frances for all your videos which really helps. Good luck to everyone who's taking they test. Yippee
Congraaaaaaats!!! 👏🤩🥳
I have my driving test tomorrow I’m definitely gonna use the technique because I think it’ll help me focus properly since I suffer with anxiety
Passed first time today! ❤l🎉 this has been a game changer for me some through the entire drive and helped me focus so much. Thank you for the amazing videos you're making.
You are the best instructor
Got my test this Saturday, gonna use this technique of yours. Let's do it.
let me know how it goes, i’m scared to let them know what i’m thinking ahh
If you make a mistake Mattio you can be sure the examiner has seen it! If it’s a small mistake they’d rather know you realise it and can put it down to nerves than you’re completely oblivious!
How did it go?
I failed it. Made a very cheap mistake. It was a T junction from minor to major road. Played it safe on first lots of cars then second lot hesitated and didn't go. Third time finally decided to go but didn't accelerated enough. A car behind over took me and yeah that was that.
Men, your Videos are tremendously helpful and I have been sharing with friends as well, Commentary not really my style but I used it and I finally passed today 1 Minor Fault. 🎉
Grateful Heart ♥️
Thank you so much for sharing and mega congrats on passing with such an incredible score!!! 🤩
I do this naturally when I lived in Wolverhampton my instructor loved it and it certainly helped me, I'm still trying to pass my test moved to Kent one of the instructors I had for Belvedere told me not to talk out loud about it as the examiners don't like it. But since seeing this I know now they do, I just do it naturally as I like them to know what I'm doing and making sure I'm doing the it correct, hopefully I can do my test in June 3rd time lucky but its in sidcup now as moved how's, I'm an older learner
Now know *

@@karenFrench-u7v have you done it
Hi Francis! Did the commentary and managed to get the pass today! First time really works!🎉❤ Great Advice!
I watched this video yesterday, and I had my test today and passed. I was saying the commentary in my head and it definitely helped me a lot more.
Thanks so much 🥳
That's awesome congrats on passing Megan!! 🥳

Isn't this stupid? Why does a driver need to know what vehicle, if any, follows, and how will this knowledge affect the necessity or his/her decision to slow down? From the point of a US driver, this looks like absolute insanity.
My test is in 2 weeks, gonna use this to help me! :)
Cheers, Franco, I'll be doing this tomorrow for my lesson 😎👌
I had to learn to commentate myself because my 1st instructor would sit in silence and correct me AFTER the fact. Great tip
This is something I do all the while and it really helps
0:20 The Diary Of A Driving Instructor 😂
I've been watching that "project" you can't talk about yet... well done Francis. 👏
Thaaaaanks!!! 😉
Thank you so much for your hard work explanations! Finally I passed first time. Commentry really helped me today😊
You're so welcome! Congraaaats on passing!!!!
I loved the reference to Steven Bartlett!!!!
☺️👌
Nice video , I might see if my instructor will allow me to try this . The only thing is when I took all my tests in the 90's and failed I was always told not to talk and comment as the examiner may think I'm not confident. I've put retaking this test for many yrs now but want to pass . Hopefully my nerves don't get the best of me this time .
Brilliant video (as always!) I’ll show this to my partner who is still learning to drive :) I myself passed a month ago and have loved watching all these vids! Xx
I find myself doing this on my driving lessons, i just thought I was going crazy. Hearing this has helped me x
I’m going to try this on my mock test this coming Tuesday. Also I booked my test a time I usually drive at, I know the roads are always different but hopefully this works too. 😂
Absolutely amazing tip, it has even helped me on my hazard perception practice for my theory test! Thanks!
Thanks Francis ☺️ love ❤️ this 😁👌,it will help me plan and concentrate 👍..Love your videos wish you was my instructor 😊...Keep going keep smiling 😃 ❤️xx
You're so welcome! thank you so much ☺️
Love this and so helpful!! I’ve got my test in January & I need all the tips I can get!! 😂
You got this Lou 😉
My instructor tells me all the while to do it and it does make u less nervous
These vids are brilliant I've got my theory test on the 30th November and I'm overdosing on your vids informative and full of handy tips I salute Francis keep up em coming my man!
Awesome Ben!! Good luck with your theory! Let us know how you get on 😊
@@DrivingSchoolTV will do!
I'm definitely going use this technique thanks 😊
So useful. Thanks!
totally brilliant video
Very helpful Thankyou!! Loved the music choice too :)
U are the best 👌 instructor . Thanks 😊
Reference was Diary of a CEO Steven Bartlett, i got it instantly 😂 Also, amazing video this helped me so much! Do you have any tips on how a beginner can learn to drive more quickly?
haha YES! Love Steven 😃
Best tip for newbies is write down everything your instructor teaches you in a notebook, on lessons or right after lessons. then research the lesson youve just done and the one you'll do next on youtube so you get the explanations and briefings multiple times!
That was really really helpful thank you for sharing 🙏
Excellent
Wow this is good hopefully I pass in feb 🎉 I know I will
Good luck!! 🤞keep practicing until you’re confident 😊
🙈 you make it look so easy
It's just practice!
So good!
Hi
1. Is it a must to stop on every stop sign irrespective of whether or no vehicle coming?
Thank you
Yes absolutely
Nice!
I love your teaching. God always bless and protect you sir 🙏 🙌
I'm always doing this naturally, and I was afraid the test taker would start getting annoyed. I'll deffo stick at it haha
Just seen your video for the first time wished have seen it before I cancelled my driving exam on the 18/10/22 😢
Oh no why did you cancel? Hopefully you can rebook!
I didn’t feel ready and confident enough
Thank you ! 💚🚗
Does it work if I say it in my head or is it more effective if i say it out loud? Have my test in a few days and I had a horrible mock today 🙈 trying to refresh my brain and get ready for it!! Love your videos BTW 😊
It’s still good if you’re saying it in your head but it’s even better to say it out loud so the examiner gets it too! Sorry about the awful mock ☹️ best to have a bad time on a mock and learn from it than on your real test and fail from it!
@@DrivingSchoolTV Thank you! I keep telling myself this and im trying to stay positive 😅 I have another lesson tomorrow so I'm going to try this technique out. Ill be watching your videos on repeat too!
Just a quick update.. thank you so much for this video! I was so nervous, but doing this made me stay calm and focused and I managed to pass first time with 0 minors!! 🥰 Can't believe it!!
Love video
Thanks so much
Got my test tomorrow wish me luck 😅
My test got cancelled today due to bad weather so I have to wait an extra 4 or 5 months for a test 😢
I did that in my driving test and I did with no a single fault until the last my minutes when I stop to talk and I did a very big mistake… I failed my exam but next time I not will stop talking until I park the car and the instructor say is finish
As a driving instructor I saw a program called Scarlett’s driving school and whose voice did I recognise?
Hah! Some RUclips bloke??
@@DrivingSchoolTV oooh I dream of being a “some RUclips Bloke” 😂
I’ve been struggling to pass my test as i’ve missed speed signs on tests and been above the limit. I find it so hard to multitask between monitoring speed and road distractions. Do you have any tips on how to improve?
Sorry to hear that but in the UK the size of the speed limit signs is so small and in some cases, their locations are so haphazardous and unpredictable that it makes next to impossible to notice them. The size of the speed limit signs must be two to three times bigger leaving no chance of missing.
Thanks but please tone down the music its too loud and distracting. I prefer your non music videos
Diary of a CEO
Im doing manual may god make me pass and everyone
Steven bartlett diary of a c.e.o podcast 👍
Are you going to be sounding your commentary out to the hearing of the examiner?
Please tell me Steven Bartlett is interviewing you!
😂 maybe one day!! 🤞
Was it just me or has anyone else noticed the lorry with the Italian number plate
😅 well spotted!!
I passed my test at the first time in Belvedere
They did me dirty on my first test there. Congratulations!
Belvedere is no joke so definitely would have been a well deserved pass 🙌
@@breakfastworship8541 I was nervous to go there. But it ended well.
You'll never pass the test driving like this guy on the video
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🥳🥳❣❣

If there’s a car tailgating you you’d want to know about it before you need to brake so you can slow down gently at first then harder once they’ve picked up your brake lights. Or in the worst case if you can see them not slowing take evasive action.
@@DrivingSchoolTVThank you for your reply. I guess I understand why the UK is not the USA. I assume that not only do you drive on the "wrong side" of the road but have a "wrong" ratiocination of placing the responsibility of another driver's illicit behavior on the victim. In the USA as well as in Russia, for instance, there is one rule -- MIND YOUR FRONT! Whoever hits your vehicle from behind is at fault which will cost him/her points on the driving record and money upon renewal of one's insurance. It is every driver's responsibility to keep a safe distance and speed.
And what is an evasive maneuver in this case? Swerving in the oncoming traffic, flying through the red light, hitting a pedestrian, plunging into another car??? 🤣😂
I am lost for words.
I passed today 3rd time
