Love this vid! Great techniques overall and cool star method. Really enjoy your casual style..you don't have to sound like a scientist that knows it all to teach me! haha And yeah, blurX is cool...especially on stars, but if I could only have one of Russel's plugs it would be noiseX all day!!! I use it on EVERY image and it never disapoints!!
This is a brilliant tutorial video. Although I shoot OSC images, once you combined your channels there are so many techniques to use. I have just started extracting luminance and adding it back in, so your method and process is great.
nice job on this, and nice star tweaks at the end. I am a little surprised you didn't run the BlurX before initial stretching! it really tightens thing up a bit from the start. But great image and love the color adjustments....i'm reworking some data earlier this year, and following along with you doing my GHS, thanks!

@@enteringintospace4685 for kicks, you should drop BlurX on your Lum before stretching...what happens to the bigger star....as well as overall sharpness.....seems like a good image to try it on. I learned a trick from Cuiv...if not a lot of stars, or you want to be more exact, run script:image analysis: FWHME and get the median FWHM, drop that number into the PSF diameter in BlurX.
We suck! Lol. Look for stair alingment in process At the top drag and drop a reference in , the drag the carrot over to the image's you want to alingment. Or drag them into the center box and lick apply. Good luck!
Nice!! I love the technique! I have been finding MLT giving me a some weird results at times. Maybe to aggressive. I've been using Local Hist. Transportation. To get my details to pop a bit more. Still haven't mastered your "star pop" method in PS. Seems to leave rings around my stars. I'll keep practicing.

How do you star align? I cant find a tutorial anywhere. Every single tutorial assumes you already have this step done. Drives me nuts! lol

Steve, have found applying blurx and noisex after channel combination is better than doing before combination to each channel separately?
Hey! I actually only apply them to my luminance. The sho or rgb get blurred out with convolution.
Great work coach! What gain setting do you normally use with your 1600mm? And do you change it depending on narrowband, broadband, or Bortle rating?

I've experiment with other gains and offsets and unity is the best
