- Local Histogram Equalization (LHE) is a powerful tool that can emphasize large and small structures in your images. In this video, I'll show you my approach to using LHE on both a nebula and galaxy image.
This video supplements my blog post on this topic, which can be found here:

Thank you so much for this. Can't wait to try this on some of my old images!
Incredibly useful, thank you!
Awesome, why didnt i know this years ago, thanks for your vid, I m going to try this out!
Never knew this tool existed lol thx!
Very nice! I’m going to try this on my Jellyfish Nebula image that I just processed.
The Jellyfish Nebula is a great object for LHE - lots of intricate details. Hope you get some nice results.
@@ancientphotonsastrophotogr6999 I just did and, wow, LHE made a significant improvement. Thank you! I also used your method to remove noise around stars using TGVDenoise. That worked well too!
@@davidleejenkins awesome! Glad to hear it. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Very nice editing work, Chad. LHE can really bring out some of the subtle structures and details in the data.
Thanks Jonny - definitely one of my favorite process.
Great tutorial, thanks for taking the time to make this video, so much to learn in this hobby!!!!
Indeed - it never ends!
Nice work ! Going to try this. I usually use the dark structures enhance script but will definitely give this a try
Thank you this is very helpful!
Excellent tutorial, thank you. I am curious about your Noise Reduction workflow, maybe another tutorial 😉
Absolutely - I'll probably put out a few methods, as I find different approaches are needed for different images/stages.
Maybe an oversight but I believe that’s 2174, the star cluster is 2175.great video
Is this process done in the "linear" state or the "non-linear" state? Thanks!
Leavin one for the algo XD
