  • Today I'm going over setting up one spinning combo for bass fishing. I'll discuss the rod, reel, line, and lures. I'll cover the small things like connection knots and hook sizes too! I really do believe all bass anglers should have at least one spinning combo for finesse fishing. I hope this helps with the questions you all have sent me!

I fish a casting combo mostly but i must agree that my spinning combos have landed more fish when the fishing is tough. My son fishes only spinning combos and beat me most of the time. I believe that you should fish with the tackle you like the most and agree that the opinions of people doesn't matter. What matters is that you go fishing...

i dont care what other people think either. i bring my spinning rod and fly rod when i fish. i have put down my flyrod and used my spinningrod to cast flies out into top feeding trout in the middle of a lake when it was to windy to use my fly rod. hooked a clear float to my line and ran a leader off it to a black gnat. hook up after hook up and it blew the other fly fishermens minds who couldnt cast far enough due to the high wind. 😅😅
ive fished for trout in creeks with the same set up and with wet flies as well. copper john or some other sinking nymph suspended under the bobber.
      love my spimning rod.

The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

I catch most of my fish on spinning gear, you just can't beat the numbers that wacky rigs and ned rigs produce. My favorite lure lately has been a ewg ned jig with a Zoom Fat Albert grub. Switching my 2 spinning reels to braid tommorow as well to see if it cuts down on my GF gut hooking with ned rigs.

I recommend both spinning and bait casting. Just because someone uses a spinning rod does not mean they are a wimp or anything. Stop with the macho wacho stuff and grab a spinning combo. I used spinning since i was a kid and i have been known to out fish people that were using bait casters when i use my spinning gear. I love using bait caster too i find it fun and i like a challenge. But also love my spinning gear too. Spinning gear is so versatile you can pretty much do anything with them. So don't be afraid to use the spinning guys and gals who knows you could have one of your best fishing days using spinning over casting. And i love this video debo keep up the great work.

As you know, there are a ton of guys making fishing videos out there and I watch them all( as I am new to fishing)but I have to tell you man you have just the right technical to entertainment to informational instruction that I have seen. I always find myself going back to all of your videos. I totally learned how to use a bait caster watching your videos. Super simple stupid and you have a cool way explaining it! Great job man. I appreciate ya. Downtown earth videos. This commit seems like I’m bromancing on you but seriously, great vids.

I have four spinning reels and one bait casting reel. I’m new to baitcasting so it’s easy to go back to a spinning reel and in my comfort zone.

I've had friends refer to it as "a fairy stick," but I caught a 5lb 3oz bass on a buzz bait- thrown from a spinning combo. Using braid is the great equalizer! I use baitcasters more, I like using them more also, but I will typically bring 1 spinning rod for when I need to slow down. I would add- when fishing around white bass: It's so much fun to tie on a white rooster tail & use the spinning rod. 5 or 6 of those can be a workout, lol.

I grew up using spinning gear so I’ve always got 1 with me ( sometimes 2 ) my favorite has to be a Lews Carbon Fire 300 size on a 7’2” med 13 Fishing Defy Black rod . Love the video and content

@@ianbriddell42 I’ve got 2 and love them. For a $70 reel they perform at a much higher price point

I always wanna catch em on a frog, jig, or other power fishing technique but I always bring a spinning rod in case the bite is tough... and an ultralight in case the bite is ridiculous 😅🤣

I like these videos. It took me a while to figure out to use primarily braid on most of my reels. I've put brand new mono on reels and had it coil and unwind. Thanks for the tips.

Your tutorial videos are absolutely some of the best out there. Thanks for showing the knot that you tie for your leader to main. I’ve been using the FG knot for a while now and you couldn’t have been more correct when you said it’s a difficult knot to tie.

YEAH This was very informative. I'm going to do one also I have slowly built up my arsenal over the past years. And I'm going to cover the difference in lines full Fluro vs braid to leader the pros and cons. THanks DEBO you always put out some awesome Content.

I generally use 6 to 7 foot spinning rods for inline spinners and lightweight topwaters and Rapala style baits. I use either a 5'8" or 5'9" spinning rod for Texas rigged 4" worms, as well as 4" worms and grubs on open hook jigheads.

I have that same Lewis Custom paired with a
Pflueger Presidente reel. 10lb braid. 8lb mono leader and i love it for drop shots. I switched to those VMC hooks after one of your videos. Drop shot works. 👍🏼

Thanks for all the info debo. I'm not really new to bass fishing, but havent fished for bass since I was a teen. Mostly fished for catfish and carp since then. I have 3 spinning rods. Setup with different finesse presentation. 2 baitcaster setups. I have these setups because of everything I've learned watching your channel

Grew up fishing with my grandfather and all he used was a spinning reel , and a fly rod . I’m trying to build a good bass rod and reel , I’m just comfortable with them !

I primarily use spinning reels as I throw a lot of small swimbaits and flukes. I think the fight on spinning rods is also a lot more fun than a baitcaster .

Facts. Something about knowing that spinning rods are pretty much designed to bend further and towards the line guides instead of away from them, let’s me not worry about my rod bending too far while fighting even a smaller bass

Man i tried the little Drop Shot setup on a spinning Rod for the first time with great success lol. I started using a version of the Drop Shot-weight setup 40 years ago for Catfish and it’s absolutely nothing new but extremely effective in a downsized form lol.

I broke down and got a victory too! I got the 7’2” MH moderate and it’s quite possibly the lightest casting rod ever. Never spent more than 130 on a rod but I had to do it cause I love the BassX

Several casting rods, but I take a 6'6" medium fast spinning rod with I think. 3000 reel on it for my lighter setups as well. I asli have an ultralight that goes with at times and a catfish specific rod which is a spinning rig for the nights I just want to sit and watch the water. Definitely like these vids as I'm always looking for new information that I may not know. The and for the vid and always great content!

I use spinning tackle once in a blue moon...mostly because I feel guilty for the $$ I paid on some setups.
But 95% of the time it's baitcasting (BFS or "regular").

Great video for folks to watch. I love my two Lew's Mach Smash reel and rod combos. $79.99 and has been a workhorse for me. I've been using 15lb braid to 10/12lb fluorocarbon and has worked well for me. Big advocate for a bass angler to have a spinning combo or two. Sometimes that's the only way you're going to get bit. Dropshot/neko/ned rig - typically one of those is going to net you a bite when nothing else will. Enjoy this IA heat, Debo. Looking forward to your next feeshing adventure!
