They will have a happy ending. The game is set at the same time as the D&D campaign "Baldurs Gate: Descent into Avernus". When the players of that are facing Zariel, there are about Level 11. If these people meet those three, who are Level 12, already, and Karlach, who knows Avernus quite well, make it to Bels Lair, they could make an alliance with him to overthrow Zariel. Bel is a very intelligent devil, former ruler over Avernus, and can see what the odds are. He might be willing to accept. And even if not, the adventurers have most likel the Shield of the Hidden Lord with them, that contains Gargauth, the Tenth of the Nine - a master strategist, a rival to even Asmodeus in terms of wiliness and guile, thats why he banned him from hell. This would be only the second option, because a contract with him must really be formulated by someone reaching at least a DC30 Intelligence Check otherwise, he will betray them ;) So, only if they must. But, lets say Bel agrees. He is CR25, Zariel is CR26, the group are all Level 11 and our lovebirds are maybe around Level 15. Level isnt equal to Challenge Rating, but this should be more than enough to overthrow Zariel. The time they returned there, was maybe the best time to come there and get rid of Zariel.

@@MrSoup-zs4rd mount doom is paradise comparing to it tbh.. "Arriving on the Plane of Fire was like stepping into the flaming maw of an ancient red dragon; if one didn't have protection or immunity from temperatures high enough to melt stone then death was swift.[14][32] The following discussion assumes a visitor and all their clothing and gear had this capability and either did not need to breathe or could compensate for a superheated, often toxic atmosphere that could immolate one from the inside[32][33] (think cloudkill plus incendiary cloud). In general, the more fluid the elemental fire, the hotter it was and the more damage it did to unprotected material.[3]" .

although i like the idea a lot, reminds me of planescape torment and jumping through planes
@@AraxielPussycat Huh. I was going off Critical Roll's description of The Elemental Plane of Fire, where it's very unpleasant for the average person, but not unbearable for short stints. For Tieflings and Fire Genasi, it's quite bearable for living.
funny how they speak of literal hell like it's just going to be a field trip and not at all a suicidal venture. Also, i would like to know when Wyll become so powerful that he think he can stop a archdevil.
In my playthrough he broke his pact so at that point all he's got to keep that promise is his regular weapons training.
Well they did just finish killing a giant magical brain that can cause earthquakes with a thought they also killed three gods chosen two of which transformed into eldritch monstrosities. I would say they have a fair chance.
@@hinro Yeah and they had powerful allies along the way. Without the protection of the emperor and Orpheus, they wouldn't have even get close to defeat the Netherbrain. And defeating the chosens of gods is impressive but they were divided and alone. And none of them had the endless armies of Hell at their disposals, many devils above Illithids level.
@@efaristi9737 I dunno if you made it to the end game or not but they really didn't have help to get to the netherbrain from the emperor. All of that was a trap from the very beginning. The netherbrain was in control the entire time through the course of events.
the illithids were fairly weak in all honesty. Early on they were something to fear but as the adventure went on they slid way down the totem pole.
Zariel is insanely powerful but I wouldn't say it's the least bit impossible that the group forms their own army of new allies to make a real attempt of taking over.
@@hinro The protection of Orpheus was still as real thing, otherwise, we wouldn't turn into Illithids as soon as we kill the Emperor.
Taking over ? I don't think Wyll and Karlach want to be devil in place of the devil.
I love how even in "his" ending wyll is the third wheel that nobody likes nor wants to talk to. #fuckwyll
Doomguy rn: I couldn't be any prouder 🥲
