I usually try the “let’s see if I can get it near the hole” method myself

Hahaha that's always a good start pal. My ball doesn't ever go straight so I'm happy with somewhere near the greenside

My preference is usually “don’t skull it into the next fairway”. If I hit the green; success!

Another great video with great little tips. One of the biggest skills that helped my handicap drop from a 7 to a 3 this year has been controlling the height of my wedges. I don't always hit knockdowns like you said, but learning to control the spin and the height of short irons and wedges has helped me get the ball much closer to the hole, especially with wind and elevation changes to the greens.

Thanks Rick for this video. some great insight into course management. My ball flight is typically low because I have such a forward press in my swing. Great to see how to adjust so I can play a different trajectory when I want. I tend to go back to the forward press so I don't struggle with ball striking. Although I love your course blogs and club testing, I benefit much more from your instructional videos.

Really simple and clear so keep up the good work mate!
Like the idea of this video and would be great to see a series of videos on course management, working out holes backwards for club selections off the tee and distances for iron shots into greens, using yardage books to work out best positions off the tee and how to approach greens.
Going to be using the driver videos to get more consistent off the tee and look forward to watching more from you.
    Cheers

I don't typically watch instructional videos, but this helped me a lot. I play a high shot for EVERYTHING. All my irons and wedges. I take minimal divots, and when I do, they're very shallow. I suffer playing in wind. Just the slight differences in ball positions and shaft position is super helpful.

  • @granthodges9860

Great tips Rick - I have to be honest I usually hit the high shot for fear of catching the leading edge in the turf and have recently gone back to a more neutral hand position as I was delofting too much. Your video explains the other options beautifully. Something else to practice.
