Jamaica Plains is one of the most disappointing settlements in the game because it should be the size of the entire town, but instead it's literally 3 buildings; one of which has no interior. Excited to see what you can do with the awful space Bethesda gave you to work with!
Yeah, I somewhat agree. I remember always feeling like Jamaica Plains could've been bigger. To be fair, it is cool that it does give you that whole cityscape feeling. Even Hangman's Alley doesn't have that (I like Hangman's Alley, but it's just a different feeling, ya know?)
@@WondrousLanternProductionsI feel like it also would’ve been cool to have a settlement in the main like city hall building and allow you to make your own base in the whole bunker area underneath it
If you _can_ use mods, there is a couple that allow you to use one of the closed houses, AND increases the size of the settlement to the entire town. The downside is that at higher levels, any guard-posts you build at the edges will agro a couple of spawn points for random enemies, so you'll be 'at war' almost any time you arrive. 😅
I haven't played this game in years but when I did I always spent a ton of time building settlements lol. matching uniforms for guards within each one etc. I really like this.
You sir deserve all the applause because I’ve been doing something similar in my game and my god it is really time consuming and takes a lot of work, so props to you for being able to do any of this my guy 👍🏻
Am a late comer to the world of FO4 and only now getting into the building side of things since have completed the main story line. Love watching how you rebuild. Great imagination too
@Shawzzo I've just started on spectacle island. The level of the terrain is a bit of a pain I the a£%e so I created an open plan market with different shops, and hotel, police station etc
I didn't touch settlements at all beyond the basics until I was in your position, and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would, easily added triple digit hours to my play time.
It's always nice to hear of new people getting into building. The learning curve can be pretty steep until you learn a lot of the tricks. I find building to still be quite addictive even after playing since 2015.
@theinsaneshecklador6598 I originally started with some god awful builds before I knew how to build. I came across one I did years ago and was embarrassed with hiw poor the build was xx
These builds never fail to impress! An Outpost Zimonja build would be cool, perhaps do it up like an abandoned Enclave base or even have settlers going around in Enclave uniforms 🙂
The church and the low building with rubble beside it should definately have been a part of the settlement. For one, the church could be used by attackers to post snipers (even though they don't in-game), so incorporating the church in the settlement would deny enemies a tactical advantage. The same goes for the other building to a lesser extent.
Love how you rebuilt that destroyed building with the taller warehouse walls and floors, I did the same at Taffington Boathouse and felt like a genius.
Just when I needed it, Shawzzo posts another video. As always, fantastic work and fantastic lore building. You should post some pre-created settlements as Mods sometime. I'd love to explore your settlements in my own game.
Just thought I’d mention it if you didn’t know already, turrets once built then picked up again can be used to move objects like the cars if you wanted to keep them but move them to a different area. Loving these builds keep it up!
Thanks for being honest about how long these builds take. I watch all these settlement building videos and then work on my own and feel bad at it and not creative because I've spent 4 hours on a settlement and hardly achieved anything. Creativity takes time and patience.
Why feel bad. You did something many will not do. You took the time to create something. Try this next time you build. 1. What is the purpose for this settlement? Why does it exist in your world? 2. Faction of settlement. Or neutral? 3. What resources are near by. Remember everything built is from parts and materials near by. Near a plane crash use the metal stuff mostly. Near a vault use the vault tech stuff mostly. For example. 4. Have fun thinking about a concept and just enjoy the build and later the functional use of the location later.
Your builds are amazing, watched all your previous ones and eager for the future builds! Would be really cool to be able to download a save with these settlements once you have filled the map, as id also love to experience them in person ☺️
Brilliant! i always do market settlement with Jamaica Plain, ive used the top for a security platform once as well, thought it would be fun to build vertically. Keep them coming, all your videos are amazing! i always build my best settlement in far harbor, theres so much space to work with and interresting pre-existing structure
I guess I'm late to comment. Just found your channel like a week ago. But I love the way you do your settlement builds. Made me reinstall fallout 4. I know mods can do alot but in alot of ways I see them as a short cut to make settlements look good. So I always respect builders who do mod free.
Ok…this has become my favorite of your settlement builds. The transformation is not only amazing, I love the hustle and bustle you’ve created in the market. Love it!
I have been binging your build videos since I discovered your channel a few days ago; I've learned so much about the building glitches and gathered so much inspiration. You've got me attempting my own scrappy builds in my playthrough! This one turned out so good, and I'm looking forward to the next settlement!
this is by far the best fallout 4 builder with no mods i have ever seen in my life. Someone rebuilding settlements with such detail and skills. Well done to you!
Your videos are soooo relaxing for some reason. I only found your channel last week but I really enjoy your work. I’m serious about them being relaxing though, I just found out like, fifteen minutes ago that I’m going to be a dad and this is what I’m doing to stop freaking the fuck out.
Respect that you’ve put that much time into such a small settlement, I treat every settlement the same as the last as I believe they all provide value to our uprising commonwealths whatever you may wish to do with it
I just found you today after playing Fallout, your work is amazing so much detail everywhere. Im a Brit too and have played F4 for so many years and I love building but havent for a while as no one sees it but me. I build in Sims 4 as I can upload to the gallery and I have made some of the F4 builds like The Slog and created some of the characters. My best F4 build was at Nordhagen Beach where I build it with concrete and the main building was up on concrete pillars that had a turret inside them with the mesh window on all sides so well protected. The garden was on the roof top and the settlers all wore normal clothes that had ballistic weave so they all looked like they were on Holiday 😆
Hey! just wanted to say that I found your channel not too long ago and I've binge watched so many of your settlement videos, I love your creativity and your ability to really make a settlement look lived in and fit in with the rest of the wasteland. I've been implementing some of your techniques in my own builds and they've improved quite a bit. Anyways, keep up the great work and thanks for the great content! :)
Another awesome and inspiring build. You have made me start actually using the settlement system. I have a character now where I'm only building settlements and completing the quests you have to do to get extra decorations. I get so many ideas from you!
Brilliant! The build is amazing! Thanks for showing how to fix the busted building. That place was driving me nuts! This was just the inspiration I needed to help me build up my own Jamaica Plains settlement. 🤩🤯
This must be my favorite build so far. So many new ideas! I love how you used the cars, like the car boot shop and the car with the seats, very cool, I’m gonna try that. Thank you so much for pointing out where to get the folding chairs, I never thought of that and I love them leaning against a wall. I was surprised to see you got a teddy bear on your bed but it’s a sweet personal touch.
That was so satisfying to watch. Fallout 4 is my all time favourites game and I've always built little things but wanted to focus more on settlement rebuilds. You've given me lots of ideas so thanks a lot. Liked and sub'd 😎
As always this is great! You are very creative with your builds, I’m always entertained by them :) a car boot sale would’ve been great, they definitely give “fallout 4 marketplace vibes” with the way they have everything!
Good work on the build!! Looks great. I always try to over build in settlements. Loving the simple but well thought out builds!! Sunshine tidings is an awkward one. Love to see you’re!
It's crazy how much better my fo4 settlement building ability has gotten just by watching your videos. Not even copying the settlements, just using your strategies and "style" of decorating to make my settlements look good. Still got a long way to go though!😂
Awesome build! once again i will be here to comment saying i cant wait for the Spectre Island build hope you can build in some of the crazy history that island has! keep up the great work.
Incredible work as always, I'm following the basic designs you come up with for pretty much all my settlements, with some adjustments to make them a bit more practical even tho I have to sacrifice some of the aesthetic appeal. It's tough work keeping these wastelanders alive.
MAN OH MANNNNNN! You give me ideas with every video! Ive always made JP a 4 settler settlement, repairing the bottom area where workshop bench is; then the level above was the only way down stairs - which I'd make the "farming" area. then I'd make the house bigger then entry into the settlement would be from the roof above
You can pillar glitch a pillar glitch: raise-glitch your item up to the max height your pillar allows, then sink a second pillar in the ground next to the first and pillar glitch it even higher. I find it easier than the campfire glitch.
Awesome job with that space. So clever to do the market. I just found this settlement earlier today and thought wtf is this im never gonna use this lol and it pissed me off that so much space is taken up by a house you cant enter or scrap like come on 😂
To add onto his point about dropping and storing weapons, it works best with weapons with a high poly count to lower the build meter so the more complex the weapon model the faster it lowers. Build looks amazing I think that Jamaica Plain is kinda underrated so its nice to see someone do something cool with it!
I just unlocked JP, and given the irritation of finding all the ghouls, the end was... hm. I see why it's so unpopular. I won't reiterate my disappointment, considering the potential a larger area could have had, but... yeah. But you, sir, have done a terrific job here! Sinking those half walls--they actually look really good. :D
Great job, as usual. You probably get tired of reading that. The build area has a relatively small perimeter when compared to most settlements. I think Hangman's Alley is smaller. The aspect in which Jamaica Plains shines is its vertical build limit. You can go up four or five stories. It isn't as high as you can build at the Abernathy Farm or over the water at Taffington Boathoue, but it gives you plenty of room if you're willing to go up instead of out. I have a large glass building which is between the old structure & the southern facing wall. It lets me show off the Vault-Tec reactor & is a beacon of sorts. It connects to the original structure, where I put a small greenhouse similar to your Croup Manor build. You can actually plant items in the debris on the second story of the house. I had several mutfruit growing there for sh*ts and giggles when I only had a couple of settlers & was still experimenting with the space.
nice rebuild man, I would like to see a video about Murkwater construction site, always this place end in the same way in my games, an abandoned and rotten place where I go only to repair the energy stuff that gives power to the radio signal to recruit people. good vid
My fave fallout builder, I like that you keep the feel of the game too. I’d imagine it’s a scrappy place the overly polished ones are nice but not for me
Nicely done. Jamaica Plains has disappointed me a lot in the past but it's made better by a settlement expansion mod. Pretty much covers the entire town even if some things can't be scrapped or things sink into floors. I usually completely rebuild the broken garage into a couple of residences.
You can wire up your searchlight from inside the building, most likely. Build one of those small hand water pumps right next to the wall, and animation will push you inside the home. Build a generator and connect it with the searchlight. It's a good place to hide something like big waterpumps - you don't need to interact with them anyway. It feels like a cheat getting an innacessable building in your settlement area tbh
Yeah thats why id love to have his settlements as a mod then you could use the expanded settlement border mod and expand on the town a bit.
