- After plenty of hard work and preparation we fire up our new diesel hater/hot water system DH15. A very joyous moment when we finally can bring warmth below decks of Tarkine.
Iefke also gets some beautiful coats of Owatrol Deks Olje varnish on the sliding hatch.

FELICITACIONES POR OTRO GRAN VIDEO !!! EL BARCO ESTA QUEDANDO HERMOSO !!!!! LES MANDO UN GRAN SALUDO DESDE ARGENTINA !!!!! P.D. SALUDOS AL DOG !!!!!
Thank you!! Greetings back to Argentina! And the dog says hi too!
Tarkine really is a beautiful boat - the result of all your very high quality, careful, painstaking craftsmanship - and she's now going to be warm and comfy too!
Hi,I really enjoy watching your channel, being an OLD retired marine engineer I am used to having most equipment in a position to be able to get to.The thought of your heater in the seat locker firing up unannounced under someone’s bum made me smile.I am watching this in our UK morning having just got up from my bed and I found the music so delightful and relaxing I could have nodded off again, thankfully my interest kept me awake until the end.Thank you both very much.cheers,Roly🇬🇧.
Real art house vibe.👍
Thank you! Happy that's the vine you get from it, that's a good vibe 😁
Got the heat on just in time for summer. :) I hadn't noticed the raised panel sides of the companionway, nice touch.
Hahaha yep! Always next winter I suppose.. cheers!
I definitely noticed that beautifully finished sliding hatch at the beginning of the episode!!! I’m thinking you passed with just one error, I knew you would!!!
The work you put into this video shows. Thank you. I'll pass it on.
Thank you Jerry, that's very kind of you! It's still a learning process making the videos but all worth it for the lovely feedback
All your work is amazing and just beautiful the two of you make a wonderful couple and team , can’t wait for the deck to be done !
Ah thankyou! We are also pumped for getting the deck done! Going to look sooo good!
a very beautiful boat, will shine on and be a special representation of your artisan skills forever
Thankyou, very kind of you to say so!!
and by the way: look at that amazing hatch finish! So shiny, I adore it every time it is on camera ❤
Love watching, you two do such beautiful work
Aw thanks! Happy to hear it
Big grin show. Boat warming and heart warming, another corker.
Thanks mate!
Great to see this new "warm" addition! and yes, the beatiful hatch.
Love the X's for smooth varnish application. Well done on the heater. Thanks.
Heat!!! Two 😃 😃. Feels like a big step.
Oh yes it’s a warm feeling! Haha
looking very pretty!
Thanks so much!
Hello from the Oregon California border no fences!!!
I installed a Diesel Heat hydronic heater in my motor home for hot water and space heat 3 years ago. I plumbed it directly in the Sprinter fuel tank and so far I've had three years of wonderful service without a single issue. I found Diesel Heat Tasmania to be very easy to deal with and I can highly recommend them.
Well we are very happy to hear that! Thankyou for the recommendation, glad to hear. Cheers
Poor Obie. While you bask in the luxurious heat down below, he is consigned to the bow deck furniture...😂🐕❄❤🩹😉
Hahaha yes! No diesel heater for him!
Good to have a heater in now that spring is going to knock on the barn door 😋 starting to become cosy, I guess! 👍
The heater install looks really good and efficient but can not compare to the hatch for beauty. Looking good as always.
Yes very true Tim, nothing beats some quality timber with a good coat of varnish..
Jasper says hi!!
Hi Jasper!!
Heat, hot water, the fan does make some noise. Covered, enclosed and at temperature it may cycle less times, for shorter periods, may be quieter? Enjoyed the music when varnishing. The finish is top notch. The boat will be warm, comfortable and cozy.
In which Obster the Pupper Dog gets up from a nap to go home for a nap like he should. Good boy!
If you pull your brush before painting, a couple of times over a piece of sandpaper, all the lose hairs of the brush will be removed before you start painting and nonewill be in your lovely paintjob.
Thank you Joop, that's a valuable tip! I'll do that next time, luckily for me there's lots more paint and varnish to be done ;)
Excellent work on the varnish! Beautiful!
Ah thanks!!
Art❤
saunatime! nJoy the heat! 👍
Hahaha will do! It is very very nice!
Beautiful quarter sawn wood!!
Another week and a few steps closer to being done. Enjoyed the vid and good seeing you both again this week. Sitting on my porch overlooking my boat from Outer Banks in North Carolina. Ed
Nice, well done👍
Cheers!
Looks awesome guys. Great work!
Thanks! We are very happy with it!
Hello, was just looking old episodes and in episode 15 Iefke told about the paintbrushes you bought back in Holland. There was a little girl sitting on a rock and she wondered why the little mermaid sat there. Perhaps you allready have your answer, but if not; the little mermaid is a danish fairy rale by Hans Christian Andersen. There is a, worldfamous statue, of her in Copenhagen. Very small and not really worthwile to visit, but still a lot off people do. Sorry if you allready know, but they sell a lot of these paint brushes in Holland still.
I love those brushes! Still have a few saved for special projects! Thanks for the information! Love the story behind the mermaid. Maybe next time I'm in the Netherlands I'll buy myself a few more!
Beautiful
It's going to leak like a sieve, sorry my prediction. I saw how you made the screwed joints; not great. Well, it looks like I was WRONG ... congrats to you, job well done.
Hahaha yep! Can safely say we had zero leaks so that’s great! Cheers
🖌️👍
The work really well, but perhaps it would be better to have the exhaust run to the stern so it cant blow into the cabin and cockpit area. Dont want carbon monoxise or diesel fumes disturbing your comfort. I installed a diesel heat system in my camper and always make sure the exhaust is downwind of any cabin inlet.
Yes, in an ideal world we would have like that too but the exhaust has a maximum length it can be and the unit needs to be fairly close to circulate hot air efficiently! We will definitely install detectors to be sure.
😍
How close are you now to finishing and splashing?
Ooooooh well, a couple more years? Currently preparing for fibreglass so hopefully this summer get her all wrapped up!
Sorry, episode 12.
But...but.........you're in Oz. What do you need heat for?
It's all looking great guys. Keep up the good work.
Haahahah yes a common mistake! Tasmania is something totally different, roaring 40’s! And our shed is on a very large concrete slab that works very well as a massive fridge.. thanks!
They’re in Tasmania.
Who’s to say that they won’t travel to colder climates.
🙋 Слава Рукастым!✊🙋🏆
Just D2, or did you prep with D1. I bought it for my boat cuz it looks amazing, E.
Both! D1 makes it look amazing and D2 protect and shine!
@@Building_a_Boat_by_the_River perhaps you can show prep with D1 in upcoming video. Appreciate you.
😎💚💙👍👍🍺🍺🍻
At time code 17:59 when you're varnishing the hatch. What is that music? It's wonderful.
