What the heck You Tube!? Can’t believe the algorithm took so long to deliver this channel! What a beauty! Is that a Lyle Hess design by any chance? Yes epoxy! No resin is better for this kind of build. Please please please, you need notched glue spreaders and fin rollers for these kinds of lay-ups. It does make a difference, you don’t know how much air is in there until you roll it out with the correct tool. 6” palm sander with a vac gets the most dust out of the air and is the most forgiving readily available power sander. I think if you wanted to use the fastest method that might not deliver the best result (belt sander), you would have bought a boat a year ago….. And blush can happen at any temp and even undetectable amounts of it can cause problems. Even “no blush” epoxy can blush a bit. Peel ply and hot coating are the only reliable ways to skip the scrub with epoxy imo.

I don't know how Iefke manages to keep that lovely smile, and look so good when covered in sawdust, and epoxy, I know I don't :)

Brings back alot of memories watching you guys fairing the hull, we used to have a fairing party for that task, 8 guys or so with long boards we would work our way around the hull in 30 minute intervals then every one would shift one position and around we would go, we could get a 40’ hull done in 2 days, looking good! Damn. Filling divots is never a fun time; instead of epoxying at night, off-gassing can also be prevented just by timing the work to either the hottest part of the day or just as the temps start to drop. The only places you could see bubbles might be between strakes where you could have holidays/voids, otherwise once sealed wood shouldn’t continue to release air. Absolutely love what you both do. This bloody epoxy stuff............you just have your fingers crossed all the damn time with it. Who would have thought it would be a problem with so much epoxy in the build up of your strip planking layers.
