I am quite simply put in superlative overload right now . The sheer scale of Princess's operations is staggering I could watch another two or three hours of this quite happily . A huge thank you to Princess for allowing you and us to have a look round . Nick you simply knock it out of the park with the fabulous content you bring us it really is a joy to watch your videos . Jolly good show that man long may you reign .
An absolutely amazing insight into the construction of such beautiful products. Don't take this the wrong way, but,(for me,) this is possibly the most interesting thing you've done on your channel Nick. You've excelled. Now i see why you are so enthusiastic. Thank you, keep the content coming.
Was totally interested, my son has been with Princess for 35 years , started as an apprentice and now is totally in charge of quality control for the whole company. My daughter in law manages the whole line for the S72 . So a big thankyou Nic .
250 boats a year sounds insane considering the amount of work that goes into each boat and that they're Owner specific and made to order! This was fascinating. Looking forward to Part 2.
One of the few industries where the UK can still be considered a world leader. And whilst Princess directly employ 3,300 people, the supply chains will employ an awful lot more.
Yes Ship building and F1. Comparable in craftmanship. You can tell how good it is by Nicks voice. Even with his experience he is blown away. You also know any conversation with anyone in that building would be passionate and genuine.
I think the Netherlands is equal if not greater when it comes to building luxury yachts. Which is quite an achievement given their much smaller population.
As a Janner I have always been proud of Princess but this film has given me a completely different outlook on how important they are to Plymouth and the jobs/careers they provide. Amazing to see south yard as well. We often walk the dogs along the James Street, the other side of the wall from the Ropery and now I know what is there. Fascinating look at a part of the Ocean City's history that not many Janners are aware of and a film that could usefully be shared with the schools of Plymouth. Looking forward to part two.
Nick, this is quite simply an honest to goodness "access all areas" tour. What a privilege to have made the tour with you. And how knowledgeable is Ross who showed you around? Not only was he able to give the tour plus answer every question put to him, but he could identify every part being made and also the history of the shipyard. What an asset he is to Princess! Can't wait for the next episode.
This video was absolutely mind boggling. This is the sort of thing you see on Nat Geo. I had no idea how big Princess are. Totally opened my eyes as to why boats are so expensive. Ross is a real credit to Princess. Can’t wait for part 2.
I'm speechless.... that was the highlight of my week.... and I got done working this morning in time to watch this. I was so excited at work this morning because I had no idea what was coming our way. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Cheers, Sir Nick!
Thank you Princess Yachts for the opportunity to view the incredible scale of your operation. It’s simply mind boggling And difficult to grasp the complexity of the process as well You’ve outdone yourself Nick, cannot wait for the rest of the tour
Nick, as much as i love your yatch-tours, I have to say that this episode on Aquaholic is one of your finest. The level of dedication, craftsmanship, pride and quality that goes in to these boats are simply mindblowing. This is not just boatbulidning, this is a work of art.
Nick, next time you're in contact with Princess make sure you mention how incredible Ross is. His knowledge of all aspects of manufacturing and enthusiasm for, and pride in, their yachts is phenomenal.
Kudos to you Nick for having the pull to get that visit and thanks to Princess for allowing it -and for providing such an enthusiastic guide on top of his game. One of your best videos yet.
Absolutely blown away by this tour. Incredible how clever and creative humans are. What a company. What yachts. I can now see why you need millions to own one. Someone’s already mentioned it but this was just like watching a quality programme on the discovery channel. Really really enjoyed seeing this. Ta Nick and also Princess Yachts. Brilliant!!!!! Can’t wait for part two.
Part two next week? This is gonna be the longest week ever😂Nick is absolutely smashing it with these videos, what a fabulous insight into yaght building, a great British institution that we should be realy proud off.... keep these grest videos coming nick... well done👍
Nick, I am so impressed with this series that you're doing at Princess. I can't wait for the second episode. It reminds me of when I worked at Teakdecking Systems in Sarasota. Everything went in stages from the start of milling the wood, to the layout in the jigs, to vacuum sealing the decks, to the caulk room, to the finish product to be shipped out and installed.
Nick as a time served wooden boat builder. Who was also built fibreglass yachts. This video may well be your best video yet. Many thanks to Princess yachts for allowing you to do such a thorough visit of the yard. Technology and processes have moved on somewhat since my days. Fascinating to see all the new processes in one go, thank you so much for posting.
Incredible insight into how the modern boat manufacturing has progressed,I used to work for Sealine, they made all the plugs by hand,no cnc,all the hulls and decks were hand lay and sprayed, and as for resin infusion,it never existed, but having spent many years experimenting with infusing small carbon fibre parts,to pull a vacuum and tons of resin into a mould and get 100% success, incredible feat of engineering,so many factors to take into account, not least temperature and related flow time.👏
Nick thank you very much for all the videos and mostly the boat runs you do. It made me go on a boat trip last week on a Jeanaeu Merry Fisher 750. 20 knots was awesome! Croatian islands, from Korcula to Bisevo, Blue cave and island Vis for lunch, Stiniva beach for swiming and back trip to Korcula island, whole day on a boat was just worth it. Thanks for saying just do it and go on a boat! Had the best time of my life! Keep bringing us more to boating...thx again
A trip down memory lane. Princess is huge. Nearly 30 years in the industry. I really don't miss it. I miss the guys. Certainly don't miss the hours, the smell, the way it takes over your life. I've spent the last 10 years earning less, breathing a lot more fresh air and being able to be there for my family. Now I'm a self employed furniture designer/maker. Having now made pieces for Museums, Michelin starred restaurants & private customers. There is a life after boat building and it can just as rewarding. Just saying, if it wasn't for mortgages, there would be a lot less than 3300 employees. It's hard work, long hours, lots of stress. All that, to make someone else's dream boat. Get out, live your life.
My chin is on the floor. What an incredible operation Princess yachts have got. I don’t know why I was surprised at the scale, but I was. I suppose when you build absolutely everything from scratch, you would need a huge facility to be able to do that and especially for the number of yachts they build at any one time is staggering. Looking forward to part two Nick. Cheers. 👍
Princess is my all time favourite company. Great to see the behind the scenes tour of how everything is made! Love me an F55! By the way Nick, love that you still answer the comments in spite of having so many subs. Most people at this stage don't even bother anymore.
This is an absolutely brilliant video. Many thanks to Princess for showing their operations. These are the videos I like Nick, it is the behind the scenes look that you normally don't get. I normally only see the end product lying next to us in an anchorage or port, now I got to see how they are made. Impressive.
Fascinating video, Nick. So glad there's a part 2 as I was thinking a few minutes in that 38mins would only skim the surface on what goes into yacht building. Could watch these types of videos for hours. And hats off to the guy showing you around. Really seems proud of the company and processes and it shows in his explanations. Loved it. 👍
Absolutely incredible, just watching takes your breath away. I suppose watching it on a iPad can not do it justice, and it is British. The gentleman showing you around has a mind of information, brilliant. Can not wait for the follow up.
Wow that place is on a massive scale. Bit like a small town all of its own and everyone that works there is local. Just what this country needs again. Looking forward to next week’s episode 👍
What a real treat, totally fascinating and compulsive viewing I'd say! Thank you Nick and a huge thanks to Princess for sharing this with us. Proof if it were ever needed here in the UK we really can manufacture!
Whoever may think that British engineering, craftsmanship and bespoke construction are dead, take THAT! Another outstanding presentation, Nick, and can't wait to see next week's conclusion. Thanks very much for that!
Wow Nick, this is simply a wonderful look into the build of a Princess yacht. The guide Ross is so knowledgeable on just about every point you have questioned. Can't wait for you to bring us part 2.
coming from Plymouth this film was amazing, im old enough to remember when march mill site was still a marine base.. its always great watching the big boats being escorted down the middle of the city centre
Brilliant video Nick. Thanks so much for sharing. I can't wait for the next episode. Princess is something Plymouth and the UK should be very proud of. Excellence and craftsmanship to the highest standards. I pass these factories on a daily basis, so good to see inside! I think there should be a 'Wow' counter in the corner of the screen though. one of my fav Aquaholic uploads!
Wow.. This is incredible to watch. You appreciate the skills that goes into this more. Definitely they are worth every asking price. ❤ Thank you. A very organised and clean factories. Amazing.
Fantastic video! Huge congratulations on 1000 videos and 500K (512K already) subscribers, Nick! Thank you for sharing your love of boats with all of us! Can’t wait for the next part, it’s absolutely fascinating! Ross is an amazing host! Kudos to him👏🏻
Absolutely fascinating. I thought I had a better understanding of what this entailed, and did for smaller boats and not these big luxury yachts. For me, retired USN, the naval history of the facilities is every bit as fascinating. Princess seems to be wonderful stewards of this. I almost didn't watch this, what a mistake that would have been. Thank you, Nick, for getting us in to see this amazing process, and thanks to Princess.
I had no idea of the sheer scale required. Incredible. Loved their various efficiencies they have created. I was wondering why everyone was not in a mask amongst all the gel coat manufacturing until I saw their process. Again, incredible. Thank you Nick. Simply awesome - in exactly the way the word awesome is intended.
Nick, you said "absolutely fabulous" ... it was absolutely fantastic. Ross seems to be a wealth of knowledge about every facet of the operation - that's not always the case with sales folks, so very refreshing. As always Nick, this was hugely entertaining ... and now I get why these boats cost so much. Kudos to Princess, and special Kudos to you Nick. I've watched one or two other boating-related RUclips clips, but your channel just seems so much better. Your camera work is really excellent. Your narration is so easy to listen to - a casual flow of information, just like chatting to a mate. And most importantly, the entertainment value means I keep coming back happily to watch the next. I'm just about to watch part 2. 🙂
The sheer volume of the process is incredible, let alone the overhead costs just to “keep the lights on” at each of the facilities…..it is F.A.S.C.I.N.A.T.I.N.G!!! Thanks for this wonderful and informative tour Nick!
Very interesting - it’s also impressive how much the sales director knows about the construction of the boats. It’s not necessarily something I’d have expected, although I suppose it must vary industry to industry! Looking forward to part 2.
As someone said to me recently, 'there's a lot of grey hair at Princess Yachts', meaning that there is a huge amount of experience and knowledge amongst the staff there. 🙂
As someone who designs systems in commercial buildings, I absolutely love videos like these that showcase the construction process between the design and finished product! Would love to see more of these! Well done!
NOOOOO ! Not another cliffhanger !! Just kidding, Nick, you are my hero ! This video is absolutely priceless ! Thank you to all involved ! Safe travels & thank you !
Super interesting Nick! The sheer scale of the operation is mind blowing. It makes it very clear where the costs come from! Thanks for this great video 👍
I have zero hope of ever buying one of these, and really not into boats because of that but was facinated by this 'documentary". Well done for doing this and really good on Princess as a company allowing this insight. What a cool company and I would buy a boat off Nick if i had the money. Good ambassador for Princess.
Absolutely incredible. I still know Princess from the time when the first 32 and 37 foot yachts were built. Now they are playing a different game. It is already an incredible entrepreneurial achievement to develop a company in this way. Thank you Nick for your great videos. ❤
Very informative on the complexity of building a single yacht. Thanks for the insiders view. Can’t wait for the next one. Congratulations on 1000 videos!
I wondered who owned Princess Yachts and my heart sank when I saw it was a venture capital outfit, BUT, it does seem to be one of the more enlightened operators, that is committed to expanding the business, rather than squeeze as much as it can out of the operation and leave it laden with debt. Investing in apprenticeships, retaining staff with 20, 30, 40 years of experience and expanding the impressive range is great to see. Looking forward to part 2. Thank you.
Totally bonkers! I could spend weeks walking around all of Princesses' facilities. If I ever win big on the lottery, I know where I will be going. Thanks for the tour, Nick. Can not wait for part 2.
Working in small company that builds, do refits and services for aluminium boats, mostly for government and military use, this was very interesting get glimps of how yachts are build. Can't wait second part.
This guy that's giving the tour, wakes up every morning before his alarm goes off because he just loves his job . The on the job knowledge numbers and stats he just pulls out of no where is outstanding what a tour . cant wait for the conclusion in the follow up.
Wow! Well there folks, is where your millions of pounds go 😮 Great video Nick, as others have said very interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes - I still can’t get over the sheer size of the hulls! Brilliant Nick, love it!!
I am quite simply put in superlative overload right now . The sheer scale of Princess's operations is staggering I could watch another two or three hours of this quite happily . You really couldn't have had a better guide. Just love his knowledge and quiet pride in what they do.
I was gonna say this. This makes the products so much better when you have such passionate, likable persons. Best publicity ever!
Kudos to Princess Yachts for giving Nick and his audience the opportunity to learn what it takes to build a great yacht.
Was totally interested, my son has been with Princess for 35 years , started as an apprentice and now is totally in charge of quality control for the whole company. My daughter in law manages the whole line for the S72 .

Hopefully the build quality will not diminish when Labour allow the staff to work from home
Shamefully, very few industries.
I think the Netherlands is equal if not greater when it comes to building luxury yachts. Which is quite an achievement given their much smaller population.

Why did you wait so long?
The engineering of the boats is what fascinates me the most. This was great to see some of the behind the scenes!
More coming!
Never change the format Martijn, it's what make your channel so unique. If people want more action, direct them to a Fast and Furious film.......

Filming the boat builders is brilliant! A close look at a huge operation, that builds them to last, provides fascinating insight.
I'm glad you enjoyed it 🙂
The Ropery and the history were the best part for me Nick. Fantastic!!
A workshop that has AC/DC blasting through the speakers by definition delivers top notch quality 🤘
Its quite a business. British craftmanship is cleary still very much alive and kicking. Looking forward to part II

You're very welcome!

Would love to see more of these! Well done!
Thank you very much! More coming 🙂
Wow! I'm so glad you did this - super informative! Thank You!!!
You're welcome!
What a way to celebrate your 1000th video Nick, well done it was such a great watch!
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
NOOOOO ! Not another cliffhanger !! Just kidding, Nick, you are my hero ! This video is absolutely priceless ! Thank you to all involved ! Safe travels & thank you !
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! 😃
Its great having the possibility of looking at the hard work that goes in producing amazing Yatchs. Kudos!
It really is!
Super interesting Nick!
The sheer scale of the operation is mind blowing. It makes it very clear where the costs come from!
Thanks for this great video 👍
My pleasure!
I have zero hope of ever buying one of these, and really not into boats because of that but was facinated by this 'documentary". Well done for doing this and really good on Princess as a company allowing this insight. What a cool company and I would buy a boat off Nick if i had the money. Good ambassador for Princess.
Great job, Nick. Really looking forward to part 2. Easy to see why fiberglass builds don't lend themselves well to customization.
Absolutely incredible, I could watch things like this all day long. They really are masterpieces of design and engineering.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! 🙂
Seriously Princess… just give this guy a boat of your choice to suit him.. It wouldn’t even make a dent on your profit.. He deserves it
I agree!! 😄
@@AQUAHOLICmaybe a thirty footer ? 🤔
Can i have one too!?
Oh it would 😂
Profit?
Absolutely incredible. I still know Princess from the time when the first 32 and 37 foot yachts were built. Now they are playing a different game. It is already an incredible entrepreneurial achievement to develop a company in this way. Thank you Nick for your great videos. ❤
Very informative on the complexity of building a single yacht. Thanks for the insiders view. Can’t wait for the next one. Congratulations on 1000 videos!
Thank you!
Thank you.
Wow what an incredible factory they have, really enjoyed this tour and can not wait for part 2. Thank you Nick for this fascinating tour.
My pleasure!
Fantastic video. Just amazed at the complexity of the process.
Thank you very much!
Factory Tours will forever my favourite
Totally bonkers! I could spend weeks walking around all of Princesses' facilities. If I ever win big on the lottery, I know where I will be going. Thanks for the tour, Nick. Can not wait for part 2.
Good luck! 🤞
Jeff here from the US! GO Sir Nick!!!
Thanks Jeff!
Working in small company that builds, do refits and services for aluminium boats, mostly for government and military use, this was very interesting get glimps of how yachts are build. Can't wait second part.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Fantastic Tour, love the AC-DC playing in the Wiring production line!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
This guy that's giving the tour, wakes up every morning before his alarm goes off because he just loves his job . The on the job knowledge numbers and stats he just pulls out of no where is outstanding what a tour . cant wait for the conclusion in the follow up.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
Congratulations on your 1000th vid, this one certainly didn't disappoint.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Well there folks, is where your millions of pounds go 😮
Great video Nick, as others have said very interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes - I still can’t get over the sheer size of the hulls! Brilliant Nick, love it!!
