Kind of reminds me of the stained glass art that I do the UV resins kind of like the simulated lead liner except for it's clear and you can make it any color that's really cool
What a beautiful piece this is. I would love to have detailed instructions on the layers of resin and types of resin you used. That is absolutely priceless! Can’t get over how beautiful it is! Thanks for sharing.
I know this is an older video but I am hoping that someone sees this…I just got Jdiction UV resin but I don’t know if I should put the original white cap back on to cover it when I am done or if I can just leave the black nozzle cap on? I couldn’t find anything on google so I am hoping someone on here could give me an answer….thank you so much!!!! And Steve McDonald you do such AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL work and you are the reason I am using Jdiction!!! Thank you so much!!!
@Colleen Hathaway Hi, Colleen! I use only JDiction UV resin, but none of my caps have ever been white! Just as long as the cap fits and doesn't have a hole in the top, it won't matter what cap you use. I'm assuming 'nozzle' implies it *does* have a hole in it?
I love cloisonné. So I am all over this. A way to save resin is to To save UV resin you can put some in a cup and run string through it. Then lay it out in your pattern and cure. You will have time to change something if you want and the thickness of your string determines the thickness of your line. If you have seen those nail art chrome powders you could use those for the gold to not have to use your heat gun on your mold.
So I absolutely love this quick QR I bought some and I have some of their new formula and their old formula but I do not have any of their UV resin. That's only due to lack of funding. I am also a part of their Facebook group and I always refer people to your channel Steve I tried out your technique with the UV resin and the bubbles and then the Micah powder and I put some of the pictures up on Facebook and I've had comments on it and I told them that I got the idea from Steve and gave him your RUclips channel name!
Watched your videos and found them very helpful, I’ve even treated myself to the resin curing machines. Absolutely brilliant they are. Anyway I have embossing powders from my card making collection but what is a embossing pen can’t say I’ve seen one of these.
Hi Steve. This is sooo pretty, and I really love the white background. Thankx to whomever suggested it, for it really makes the finished project standout so much more. I hope that you continue to use it, for I know that it'll really give your finished jewelry pieces that extra pizazz when you display them. I didn't see your previous video, so I really enjoyed this one. Thankx for another informative video.
Brilliant! I used to emboss years ago and I'd never have thought of using it in resin. Genius. Baby wipes! I go to the dollar store ($1.25 US now) and buy them in bulk. They clean resin beautifully, as well as acrylic paint and surfaces, containers, your hands, and the like. BTW, if a baby wipe won't clean a surface, use alcohol. As to the finished product, to be honest, it's pretty rudimentary, which is totally fine and beautiful. But there could have been other techniques that you've shown that would take it to the next level!
Thank you for the tip on the heat gun I tried doing it before and it didn't work out, never thought to let it heat up frist.you are a true inspiration 🙂
I haven’t worked with resin before (yet), but I’ve been watching and loving your videos for at least a few yrs! As an artist myself who switches around between all different mediums, I’ve learnt a lot from your videos so that when I finally start with resin I’ll have a head start (also ideas/techniques you’ve used carry over to other mediums) All your pieces are so creative and you’ve inspired me to want to work with resin once I have my supplies, I’m in the process of ordering some things to get me started. I first looked into using resin because many of my miniature and other polymer clay creations are very delicate and I want them to be stronger before selling them. I had the idea it would make them stronger if I glaze them with a UV resin, tho I’m still looking for more info on using uv resin with polymer clay first. I guess I can do some experiments and see how it goes, I just don’t want to create any toxic fumes if there’s any interaction between the mediums Thanks for always putting out quality content and inspiring us to “think outside the mould”
I'd love to see you do a Polka dot version of this. Using a stencil to draw around the circles all one size or several. Then building the layers and embossing the tops. Personally I think that would be gorgeous xx
A smokes I always wondered what embossing powder was like I use it in my resin I actually have some glow in the dark embossing powder but I always put it in my resin but I don't have any embossing glue I have some gold leaf glue but I don't know if that will react properly to my embossing done or AKA heat gun so I'm wondering if it would do the same thing
I love this!! May take me awhile to get all the equipment, but once I learn how to do it I'll have another addition to my shop. Thanks Steve, you are the best!
Very reminiscent of a Tiffany lampshade. Woot! I had said that before you got to the end of the video, so here is your promised cup of coffee! (And doesn't it look SO MUCH BETTER on WHITE?)
I just tried that experiment with gold leaf glue and embossing powder it does not work not at all but at least I tried my birthday is coming up so hopefully my mom gets me a gift card to Hobby lobby which is a craft store that way I can go get me some embossing glue and more embossing powders because now I'm just going to emboss every bit of my resin work that is awesome
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts It would be fascinating to see a side by side comparison of the gold leaf vs the embossing powder. ;) In case you need any video ideas.
That was really pretty. I love the colours you used and watching you, I learned something new. I have never seen the technique you used today. It was fascinating. Thank you for a super video Steve. I love your channel. God bless you.
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME HOWI CAN USE WHAT I HAVE HERE TO MAKESOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY. I THINK IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT THIS IS A TECHNIQUE THAT COULD BE USED ON CARD (THE HARD TYPE OF CARD. I'M REALLY IMPRESSED HOW THAT HAS TURNED OUT.
Very interested tray, I never would have thought to do something like this. You definitely have lots more patience than I do, doing all the blue with pipettes would have driven me crazy. 🤪 I love watching your channel. Keep up the great demos.
Oh Steve, this is so pretty! I think I would use it in one of these decoration windows (these thingies with the mirrors in a window frame) and hang it on a wall. Until now I used UV resin only for the bubble look or for doming, this technique reminds me of silk painting with this golden outlines... or window colour art. It´s baffling how one can adapt techniques from all over to every type of art and crafts. And the more I look your videos, the more I can use things from other hobbies in my resin work. Sometimes I even use sealer gel from doing my nails to seal my resin pieces. ☺ And the E-File, of course.
I use the liquid lead, (not really lead) to make raised borders. Much easier, comes in colors, and is cost effective. The brand I use is Gallery Glass, made by Plaid.
And another inspiration ! The result is really nice !👏👏👏 I have bought this mold after watching your video and can't wait to use it ! Does your brain get a break sometimes ? And what drink gives you all that energy ?🤔😂😂😂 Anyway, thanks for all these great ideas !💙💙💙
I love that. Could I put the UV resin on the mold first for the design I want to do? Then finish the pour? I'm doing this on the edc tray from your earlier video.
Hi Steve! Love your vids! I learn so much!!! I recently tried a technique learned from you. But I got slightly different results. I used j diction uv resin recently and the tray I did was longer than wide. So I topped up for a stunning finish! But 😮 during curing as I inched my way along I noticed after cure and unmolding I had bars of raised resin. I could tell exactly where the light stood over my piece! I was careful to overlap light so that wouldn't happen! I recured to no avail 😮💨 wish you could see it! 😂 Not giving up tho! Practice makes perfect right!😂
Are you saying cloisonne? I've heard it pronounced CLOYsonay here in the states. It took me awhile to catch on. 😆😂 Anyway, it's a cool technique, Steve.
BTW This is exactly the technique I've been imagining for jewelry pendants et al. hoping to translate it into a small scale. Probably just using a fine tip! Thank you so much for your explorations! And straight to the point no fillers! Love your colors! I think you could do a deep aubergine purple background with those reds and golds. making it very medieval. Endless color combo's with that one pattern type! Love it!
That is gorgeous
Looks amazing Steve.
Just beautiful!
This is the first time I've watched someone work with resin. It looks like a beautiful craft. Thanks for sharing.
That's stunning Steve 😍 Xx
Can you do a video on how to make holographic silicone molds using holographic diffraction grating sheets. They make the most beautiful resin pieces
WOW, I REALLY LOVE THIS! I would call this a piece of ART, FOR REAL!
This is a beautiful project, but more importantly, it provides a lot of inspiration! Thank you for sharing!
Love the colors!! You make things look SO EASY!! I can just see that on my wall.🤗🤗
Stay safe and stay crafty 👍👍🛎️🔔🦋🦋
Wow beautiful
HI Steve, WOW loved your resin art work lovely bright & Cheerful looking 👍 thanks for sharing Lin 🦋✨
No prob Steve, 👍 I enjoy watching your resin vlogs you give out a lot of cool Ideas 👍✨🦋
Very impressed with their UV resin when using it to ‘glaze’ a turned wooden bowl or pot. Interesting video.

I am so in love with this! It makes me think of me mom who passed in 2013. I love watching you work. Thank you!
One of the best resin crafting projects I've seen. So much potential! TFS

Oh my goodness, that is amazing. I am going to try doing this!! I have been wanting to incorporate embossing in resin.
that is wonderful! I love it. I've done that with the resin. neat. your picture is beautiful
