- Hi Everyone. This is a resin experiment using white cement in resin. I was surprised at what happened and the reaction between the white cement and the resin. Can you guess what happens?

White Cement in RESIN- Can You Guess What happens?
Warning: Important Health and Safety Notice:
Resin is an industrial chemical and as such should always be treated with respect and the manufacturers safety advice taken. Here is a video I have made on how I keep myself safe: • Stop Making Yourself I... Хобби
The purple mica is stunning!
Loved them all but think your granny one looks like ivory. Lovely. 😊
I love this technique, the kind of retro vibe on the plain one especially really speaks to me. I’d love to do some faux jadeite glass with that!
Very interesting results. I do recommend making a vacuum chamber to assist in pulling out the bubbles. you just need some kind of sealed box and a fixture to attach a shop vacuum hose as a bare minimum. You will still need to open and pop some of the bubbles in resins, it helps prevent bottoms and sides from having air gaps as well as some of the bigger ones from forming.
Steve, you are truly just the best - your experiments both teach AND help so many people (myself included) to either have the courage to attempt unique effects with resin as well as how to avoid mistakes. You’re one of my favourite channels - I’m super strapped for cash right now, so NOT wasting the very $$$ epoxy resin in unknown experiments is beyond priceless & important. You, sir, are a superstar, truly.
Thank you so much for all you do ❤️
Those came out awesome. And the one without coloring could mimic bone. That's cool.
Who knew?! Cement with resin! Good going Steve!
Long ago I subscribed to your channel because of the different experiments that you were were doing and to this day I still love seeing what your creative mind comes up with. My favorite was also the glitter one even though each one was pretty in a different way. Thanks for sharing!
Loved them all.. Happy Easter to you and your family. I am an old grandma and would love the white one..lol Take care
Oh, that mica powder one looks like glazed pottery almost. So pretty ♥
I love your thinking outside the box ideas and trying different things and sharing them with us.I recently joined your channel and have been learning so many things.
Love these, especially the black glitter one. I would never think to put cement into resin like that, not that much anyway. Wow!
they turned out amazing...but you didn't show us a close up of the skull. lol I wanted to see the red glitter.
I just got into bed and put your video on and now you're talking about cake I now want cake
Those turned out really cool! The black one is my favorite, too.
The one with just the cement reminds me of an offwhite alabaster, or maybe an antique bakelite.
Fantastic video and I'll definitely be trying cement in resin. Thanks so much for having the links to Amazon Australia as well!! 🦘❤
Loved the video. ❤❤
That glitter one is stunning.
Steve! Thank you! I know this has nothing to do with this video but thank you for introducing the resonator! I got it and love it! I used it tonight and wow what a time saver! Could you do a video or two showing this again? This little machine was so worth it! Your awesome!
Hi Steve. This is reallyy something. I didn't think that it wouldd become smooth; and when it did, I was really impressed. Nice outcome.
Interesting, that you can use those materials together and it works out great !!! Happy Easter 🐇🐣🐰
That's so cool.... I might have to try this out
I love to watch all your videos, you really have brilliant ideas Thank you for sharing 🙏🙏❤️👍👍👌👌
wow thats different. love them all
They look absolutely awesome 🥰
That's an awesome affect. The white vase looks almost like onyx you see in the caves
Thank you for that it was very interesting x
I love the holographic black glitter so sparkly
Ever consider using biodegradable glitter? Glitter is the number one pollutant on the planet. By WAY far more than the rest of plastics. Not harping on you-just thought to mention it. They have so many colors and for cheap! Love your content sir 👍🏽🤘🏿 you’re great 💕🙌🏽
Awesome Steve Mcdonald
O my goodness I am sitting here waiting your video and you start to talk about cake at 3:53 and I am here eating some cake and the time is 3:53am now how cool is that and I just love how they all came out lovely just lovely and I just Truly Love purple thanks for sharing GOD BLESS
Just thought of another couple of questions. Can you tell if these vases are heavier? Do you think that they would be more or less breakable?
Thank you!💕
I think all 3 are stunning
Wow.. so nice😍
Love the black one! I particularly like some of the terminology you use, personal favs are 'bluergh' and 'squidgy widgey' lol 🤣🤣🤣
Super interesting!!! I’m always looking for ways to reduce the amazing of resin I’m using!!! Resin costs quite a bit!!
i like the black on but ive found if you let the resin thicken up the glitter should not all fall
Your doggy was making the carpet comfy
Very interesting process. I think can use for a different project. Really thank you so much.and already your suscriptor
I love those vases! So I guess its time to go shopping !
Gracias felicitaciones y siempre adelante
It comes out like milk glass.
Happy Easter
Steve, I just watched the video and I had 2 questions. Did you spray the mold with mold release first? Is the white cement normally mixed with water (I don't know anything about cement).
I just got the black holographic fine glitter and it’s amazing 🤩 I really like those molds you used. I have little cups and trays but no vases yet. Thanks for sharing this experiment. Pretty cool 😎
Maybe try biodegradable glitter next time! Regular glitter is the number one plastic pollutant in the world
@@kateapple1 actually it’s plastic containers that is the worlds worst pollutant. Coca Cola and PepsiCo are the top two.
Jesus Christ is returning very soon and he will set things right. He will be rapturing his people out of this world very soon. It’s all in the Bible. We are living in the last days.
Very cool
I am wanting to try this mixture. I wonder if mixing the glitter or mica powder with the dry cement before adding to the resin would prevent them from sinking? To get the marbled effect, divide the resin prior to adding the cement. Add the uncolored cement to one portion and the colored cement to the other portion. Mix each one well and then combine the two, mixing only enough to get the desired effect.
Ouch on the burn. Love the purple mica. But how did your skull turn out
You are the most knowledgeable resin RUclipsr I watch! Question: I've hoarded a ton of resin stuff, ultimately I want to fashion different types of wings, where would you suggest I invest my money and time in learning how to work with resin to gain the skills I need to create different wings... Note: I've also hoarded clay stuff both polymer and air dry...
I would love to have seen just a plain one with just resin because I'm not sure I can tell the difference that the plaster made. Very nice experiment though!
You could try using a split cup that is normally used for paint pouring to get a two toned effect
I love your experiments. What kind of resin did you use?
Hello Steve, thanks for the video.
How strong are those geoemtries, do you have any experience? I am thinking to use this mix for some damaged, plastic, mechanical part, like gears.
You are so amazing love your videos. Can u give me an idea of what I can you in my resin to get a matte finish ? Thank you so much in advance.
If you made your molds a little different, with a space above your edge, you wouldn't have to babysit them so much, you could overfill them a little and as the air escapes, there would be a reservoir waiting to drain in.
I assume the upper lip requires some cleanup anyway, so it would just be slightly more cleanup.
All I can say is
"Look at getting either a vacuum or a pressure chamber".
Those three different techniques would also might look good when used to make mechanical keyboard keycaps.
So did you use the epoxy A&B with the cement?
Good work.. My question is do you use Aand B resin you mixed them then put cement with them
Have you ever tried a cup with a divider in the middle, mix two colors then put each color on opposite sides of the divider.. then you could pour the two colors at the same time and slightly turn it as you pour into a mold.. I can imagine that will give you a dramatic marbling effect..
I used to do something similar with melt and pour soap that had set up a little so about the same consistency as resin. I just used two different cups and poured them at the same time. Very pretty.
Those really are pretty Steve. I'm so glad you experimented with cement and resin, I've been contemplating experimenting with plaster and resin but haven't been brave enough yet. What do you think?
do it! I think I've seen some people mixing it on Instagram but I don't remember who
Can you mention what resin you use. Epoxy or polyester or acrylic
Does this pour and self level like regular two part epoxy? I'm thinking to use a similar blend to the black glitter one you did on a chiseled MDF slab. The idea would be to chisel the slab to a slate-stone-like edge and make a table which replicates the shape and look of slate at a much cheaper cost while also remanining safe (genuine slate slabs have edges which might as well be an arrowhead waiting to be fallen into as far as I can tell).
Hi.
What if you put a silicone mat over the pour, turned it upside down. To get the glitter at the other end???????
great experiment, I want to try it but with a different mold, maybe some kind of tray so that the bubbles are on the side that's going to be sanded and kept hidden anyway
Also, as it createda beige color, maybe using it in a sea composition to represent the waves? I'm going to ask everyone I know to see if they have a little bit of "Porlan" as it is popularly known here, so I don't have to buy a whole bag XD
Are they fire resistant when they have cement mixed in?
The white cement, is that the same kind of cement I used for my patio.
Nothing works better than Sqeaky Weaky!
The black is my fav...
try putting some real fine sand in also
How hard is the completed thing?
Take a crafting heating gun or a lighter to the bubbles. It will help pop them. Also you can use isopropyl alcohol spray, Also the tapping helps get the bubbles out like you said
did you watch the video? he used a lighter. thing is bubbles form throughout the curing process and when the resin is getting stiff, the bubbles keep forming but dont come to the top. best investing in a vacuum degasser or a pressure pot. almost guaranteed bubble free, and if you are making items to sell then its an investment.
What if you added it as a powder instead of mixing it, ever think of that.
Thank you, brother. I learned a good thing because of you, my brother. I have an important question. I want you to explain to me how to make resin like Bakelite solid and a mixture of transparent colors without spoiling. After the interaction, it is necessary. Write to me.
What am I missing didn’t you use cement a year prior to make a couple torsos?
Have you tried resin with gypsum/ Jesmonite?
Looks like you mixed it directly in your resin. Doesn't look like you mixed the cement with water. Is that correct?
Is the goal here to make the resin go farther? Also do you know of any erganomic molds for crochet hooks.
Most crochet hooks don't work as molds but you can just repeatedly dip and drip them over and over until a handle forms. But as a crocheter I would imagine the handle because its hard, and doesn't give, will eventually hurt your palm or the edge of your palm...pinky side sore after a few hours of crochet. He does have a video on crochet hooks themselves.
💜🖤
That's how I am with cake.mmmm cake
" I like it, l love it,".....
What if I mixed up the cement with water and also two parts resin, then mix this two together? will they cure properly?
No. Water and epoxy resin are not friends.
Can i use white cement in resin? I Don't have resin
I had no idea that white cement was mad e out of plaster of Paris.
It isn’t. They are totally different materials just the same color. Plaster of Paris is much more fragile
Video is frozen can only hear the audio
But can she hear herself being noisy
I booped the button as always, now please create a three sided white box with a good lighting set up and a mechanized lazy susan to display your finished pieces >properly
Um maybe be nice? And why a three sided box? Why not just a lazy Susan? He doesn't really do that ta da moment. He talks about what they look like and why. I prefer that.
@@teedee478 A Three sided white box for photos of finished projects- 2 vertical sides and a bottom- makes everything look great on camera. That way they can be shown for people who are considering buying them. I am not trying to be mean. I 've begged him a few times to get a white background :D. I even offered to buy him a coffee every time he does to get him in the habit. A mechanized lazy susan would allow him to show all angles of the piece in a video so he could use that in his YT vids.
@@bubblemum I dont think he sells the projects. Part of his appeal is the everyman approach. That may interfere with the appeal. My understanding is that he sells other things not necessarily what is on the screen. Even so, if he looks like we do in that we all have.that crazy mat then so be it.
Well, I think we have just found someone who should start her own channel because you already have all the knowledge on how everyone is SUPPOSED TO SHOW a finished project, oh & don't forget to GET RID OF THE DIRTY WORKSPACE❣️
That way if YOU start your own channel, you won't feel the need to make RUDE COMMENTS OR SUGGESTIONS in someon else's videos about how or what they are doingATTEMP TO BRIBE them to do it JOANN'S WAY❣️
@@pattyharrison6386I have my own channel. I read Bible Bedtime stories for young children. Which is why I won't say the first...and second, and third things that I thought of when I read your post. Since I live in the southern USA though, I feel perfectly justified in saying "Well bless your heart" to you though.
