One of your greatest strengths is your ability to share a genuine opinion on a given game without the need to make sure said opinion matches how the gamer masses feel. You do this with honestly and without spite, and the importance of this cannot be overstated in a genre of gaming-related content that oftentimes focuses too much on popular opinion and over-the-top anger for reasons of online acceptance. I believe you could make more ranking videos like this one for other platforms and/or genres, and they would be just as good. Well done.

One of the things I really love about this channel is that you have one of the most unique/out-of-step tastes in games I've ever come across lol. So many games most people love you hate, and vice/versa. Obviously there are plenty of popular games you also like, but your taste is just different enough from the masses that you end up praising games I never would have given a second look otherwise. It's actually helped me expand my own tastes and discover hidden gems.

One of the things I really like about this channel is how you review games that weren't as ubiquitous in the '80s/'90s. I probably played 10 of these games, heard of another 10, and wasn't aware of 20 of them before I found your channel. It's cool seeing good games weren't even on my radar.

You must be popping up in a lot of recommendation lists because I too am someone who just recently discovered your page and love your content. This was hands down one of the most interesting NES game ranking lists ever because so many of your mentions are games I’m either vaguely familiar with but didn’t really, if not, ever play, or I’ve literally never heard of (and I consider myself pretty much an NES junkie so I clearly need to step my gaming up lol.
But I think my most favorite part about your content is your ability to articulate what your saying about something, especially from a critical standpoint. This is coming from someone who in real life tends to be very passive and non confrontational so critical talk is very hard for me whereas you flow off your real opinions on extremely well while still being insightful and genuine. I wish I could capture that personality trait in a bottle so I could sell it lol

I would move two games to S tier: Maniac Mansion and Deja Vu. The reason is simple. They gave gamers on NES something they had never seen before. Deep stories and interactive adventures. At the time, the graphics were super immersive and the controls felt natural. It was also impressive how much those games fit into a cartridge considering how small the NES sprite memory is. Very cool games for their time. Sure they can seem boring now if you weren't there when they were brand new. :) I totally agree with the rest of your list.

I hadn't seen this before. I can imagine your initial impressions of Duck Tales didn't go over well at the time. Sometimes, how we perceive a game depends on the hype for the game or even where we are mentally when first trying it. One experience in gaming that I love is revisiting those games and coming away with a positive second impression. It's a wonderful experience and once I've had many times. And most retro games are short which makes it easier to give second and third chances. I've lost track of all the games I ended up loving on a second or third attempt, but I recall not loving Gunstar Heroes at first, as well as stuff like Vendetta, Undercover Cops, and even Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder, but coming back and maybe making some tweaks helped. Yoshi's Island and Super Mario 2 were others. And sometimes, no matter how many attempts I give it, there's just no changing my opinion. Chaos Engine and Castlevania 4 are among those. But giving games more than one chance is often a good thing, especially with popular games like Duck Tales as there's usually something there. In my case, I liked Duck Tales back when I played it in 1990. The pogo mechanic is a little weird, but I took to it pretty quickly. Good to hear that you came to enjoy Duck Tales.
The ports of Prince of Persia are quite interesting. There's a cool video out there where one guy breezes through his takes on the versions. Prince of Persia is a game I didn't love until revisiting it a few years back. So the short version of the video is that the best versions to play are the original DOS version(there's an open-source version called SDLpop), the Macintosh version, and the Sega CD version(which has hilarious voiceovers). The others tend to have some bizarre and major flaws. The PC Engine version is good, except that the potions aren't color coded like they're supposed to be, which can lead to some unwanted effects. Drinking mystery potions is a bad way to go through life.

Exactly! That was hilarious! Just in CASE we forgot how much Pam really hates that game! Hahahaha I ALMOST wanna see her review LJN's X-Men! (But Pam may do so much swearing in that, she may have to put a STRONG parental advisory disclaimer!😄)But I don't wish that game on anyone!

It's weird how Kid Klown in Night Mayor World was originally a Mickey Mouse game on the Famicom that just got reskinned.
I always loved the Adventure Island games, but sometimes I wonder why. Because they're all SO hard that I don't think I've ever made it all the way through any of them without the Game Genie. And even with the Game Genie they're still tough as nails. Those skulls with the twirly things going around them were sent from the pits of HELL. Those could single-handedly be the reason these games are so hard. Or at least one of the reasons.

Wonderful video!! Loved it! It's so cool to see Super Spy Hunter get some much needed love. I too have great memories playing Felix the Cat (rented it when it was a new game!) and Adventures in the Magic Kingdom. Jackie Chan is another real hidden gem on the NES.

This channel is one of the best. It has everything you could want. Fair and balanced reviews with opinions that you can tell have been thought through. Pam has a great personality, chill, sweet and calming. Plus she is beautiful, always felt that way, but the unique make up for this one really makes an impression. Thanks for the quality content.

Fascinating. I had +50 NES games when I was a kid (thanks to my grand parents who were also gamers : their favourite was Mario 2, but only until the crab in level 5). I had many games, but almost none of the games you reviewed here.

One thing I respect you for is even when I disagree with you, I respect the thought you put into your opinion. I never feel you are trolling or pulling it out of your rear as I see other reviewers do..You helped me discover Isoated Warrior, which I think is a great shooter. I said this somewhere else, but its like an elternate timeline where Shooters remained the dominant genre.

This is a fun idea! I think StarTropics is a game I end up enjoying more the older I get. I liked it as a kid, but now I really appreciate how refined it was for its time. Guardian Legend is always a great pick, multi-genre games are a blast when done right!

Nice summary video, it has given me a lot of good ideas for my Retron 5. I remember renting Guardian Legend as a kid, but of course there was no manual and I got lost quickly.
Kirby's Adventure has always been one of my faves, and the only other games from your list I've actually played are DuckTales, Chip & Dale, and Star Tropics. Time to go shopping!
