@@SilhSe that is revisionist history. The game sold very well and would have done even better if not for a chip shortage. The game was loved by almost everyone that played it.

This was something my son and I shared as a gentle exploration collectathon and without thinking too much about it, i love it for what it is!(we’ve since moved on to co-op lego titles which are far busier and just as satisfyingly repetitive!) Warner Bros handed The Lego Ninjago Movie Videogame out for free on PC/PS4/XBO. That was my "main" in June, because I'm an idiot. It ended up requiring lots of attention and care to avoid being locked out of 100% completion and several Achievements/Trophies. Tracking events unlocks, making USB backup saves after every chapter, and replaying chapters with said USB saves when the bugs occured. Kinda like your Maneater situation. I know it's just a game, but it sucks so hard when you put in time and effort towards a goal and get screwed out of it. Thanks to the bugs being well known, and the preventative measures I took, I did get everything. But it was a job Pam. Good luck to you with Maneater.

I didn’t get much physically last month. My copy of Persona 5 Royal for PS4 arrived on the first then later I got Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony for PSP, completing my collection of the series, and Crisis 2 for PS3. I got many digital games though. On GOG I got several games. Highlights include Pathfinder: Kingmaker and DLCs, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut, Battlechasers Nightwar, ATOM RPG: Trudograd, and the entire Supreme Commander franchise. On Steam I grabbed the Insurgence Indy JRPG series plus a few games that I already own on GOG to support the developers.
On PS4 I started Persona 5 Royal bit I stopped after the first Palace and school break because I don’t want to burn myself out by pushing such a long game so fast after playing the original version soon after getting my PS4. After that I focused on PC games until the new Borderlands 3 DLC came out. I haven’t gotten far but I have mixed feelings. First there’s no sign of a character I really hoped would appear. Second there are some light Metroidvania elements which IMO do not blend well with the gameplay of Borderlands. I do like the setting and have enjoyed some of the side missions a lot though.
On PC I put some more time into Final Fantasy VII Classic. I reached Kalm and set the game aside after the flashback. I moved on to ATOM RPG: Trudograd which is a post-apocalyptic WRPG set in the mid-2000s Soviet Union (In this timeline the Cold War went nuclear in the mid-1980s) It’s a direct sequel to an earlier game so most people will probably want to play that first. (I stopped caring about playing, reading, or watching a series in order long ago). It is listed as in development for good reason though. I had fun when the game was working but set it aside when I kept having issues like the world map not letting me travel to needed destinations or areas not allowing me to exit to the world map. I boosted my character’s Dexterity and especially Intelligence and took the Timid Theoretician trait which reduces carrying capacity, and the Speechcraft skill (though I spent many points boosting Speechcraft) but boosts Intelligence plus the Tinkering and Technology skills while granting instant access to level 4 crafting recipes. My character’s highest skills are Tinkering and Technology tied at the top followed by Pistol/SMG then Speechcraft and Lockpicking. On the ability grid I took pretty much the entire Tinkering tree which along with aiding in things like repair and crafting aids in theft by making picking many locks auto successes and preventing people from attacking if they catch you trying to steal something. I also took several low and mid-level abilities from the Pistol/SMG tree.
After setting that aside I decided to try Steel and Steam Episode 1, an Indy JRPG I picked up on Steam long ago (It isn’t on sale any more) Other then the Steampunk setting it is pretty plain but I’ve paid more for IMO worse JRPGs both Indy and company made. I would have set this aside except for two things. First there’s a question within the game I want answered before doing so. Second the USB cord linking my external hard drive, which has almost all my games including this, and my laptop is dying and I won’t be able to replace it until next week.
On my 3DS I started Dragon Lapis, a Kemco RPG. I find the setting, and characters are pretty bland but the gameplay has some interesting touches. It uses Growth Plates which are mini-Sphere grids tied to classes or weapon types but they also boost stats and grant additional stat bonuses when completed. And it uses a job system which I always enjoy. Right now my party consists of a Hero (Male lead’s unique class), a Hi-Dragonite (Female lead’s unique class) , a Brigand King (Upgraded Thief), and an Acolyte (Upgraded Priest, or a White Mage with some attack magic). If I had paid thirty dollars, or maybe even twenty dollars for this I would probably be annoyed but I think it is well worth the ten dollars I did pay for it.
And on PSP I continued playing Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts. I managed to unlock the Bard class and at the month’s end I reached the town that sells the weapon tyoe unique to Bards but I decided to hold off on the class change until I’ve maxed my Hunter class level, and the skill levels for weapon types that Hunters can use.

June was the month to play all the games for me, too! Although I did finish most of them, hehe. The Last Day of June was my Eastshade-style-no-conflict experience, except it was heartbreaking rather than uplifting. Ittle Dew was a nice block-pushing puzzler with a cute animation style. Orwell was a lot shorter than I'd expected before I installed it. I was expecting a 10-15 hour game but 5hrs was a good length for one playthrough. South Park: The Stick of Truth was a cool nostalgia trip but ultimately forgettable as an RPG. I doubt I'll get the other SP game, glad I haven't bought it already.
As for currently playing, I'm back into Defence Grid as I stopped partway through the first campaign a couple of years ago. And I am quite enjoying Victor Vran at he moment, it's scratching the ARPG itch very well. I'm so glad you inspired me to get the XB1 controller!

The first Tomba game is one of my favorite games for the PS1 and far superior to Tomba 2 in my opinion (sadly, I don't think the sequel did it much justice). It's been a long time since I played it, but from what I remember, it has some almost metroidvania like qualities of finding upgrades that give you new abilities and allow further exploration, but the other aspects of the gameplay and the rather bizarre style of screen shifting platforming probably puts it into its own weird little category. The game very much revolves around trying out creative means of interacting with the environment and gathering clues from npc's to solve puzzles and further progress. This coupled with an absurdly goofy environment make it one of the most fun and unique games I think I've ever played and something I would very highly recommend.

Last month I also played an adventure game called "Close to the Sun," set in a gigantic ship so big that it has its own full-size opera theater. The game is very nice to look at, especially with first-person freedom of movement. But sadly the game has very little interesting interaction, with many locations having nothing for you to do other than reading a couple of notes or pulling a lever. The story of a scientific experiment gone awry is also all too familiar.

I've been hitting the clearance shelves again this month at Walmart and Target (in the U.S.) and buying a bunch of stuff. I ended up picking up the following (all for PS4): Strange Brigade, Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 6 (YK2 and Y6 are both steelbooks, Y6 is the artbook edition) for $7 apiece, Indivisible for $9 and Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch Remastered for $19. There's actually a LOT more that are on clearance at Walmart right now, including stuff like Dishonored 2, Prey and many others. Most of their 3DS and other older Nintendo stock (like leftover Wii U games) are also on clearance too.
Target( in the U.S.) also began putting a few things on clearance again. I picked up Doom (2016) from there this past week for $9.98 (50% off).
I may NOT keep it though as I've heard most of the updates are for multiplayer and balloon the game's file size to almost 100 GB's. Having just sold my almost 4 year old PS4 slim for way more than I should've been able to get ($275) I just bought a new one (from Sony Rewards, only place online with them new in stock) for MSRP and that only has a 1 TB HDD in it.
Finally the Dollar Tree stores in the U.S. also got in some video games for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One including Middle-Earth: Shadow Of War and some others as well as their usual Blu-Rays and DVD's they get at least once a month.

@@Cannotbetamed1 If only they would. Then again I'd also like to go back to the days of being able to pop a game into a system and just play it immediately without waiting for an update (or nine). At least last gen the file sizes weren't huge like now, where sometimes you're downloading 20+ GB's or MORE.

@@Cannotbetamed1 FYI: I don't know what part of Canada you're in. but if you're near the U.S. border I would definitely suggest taking advantage of the new Power Up Rewards Pro program from Gamestop.
They give you a $5 coupon/certificate every month and since their stores are open again you can get a $10 PSN/XBL/Nintendo card for $5 out of pocket. I've been doing that for a while. Though today I used my July one to take $5 off Children Of Morta, which is only $14.99 there right now.
It'd definitely offset the cost of buying games digitally. I had initially planned on using them every month to be able to buy 2-3 years of PS+ at Black Friday pricing direct from Sony. Though at the moment I'm debating reupping or not. I have till Jan 2021 to decide anyway.
