Great collection. I appreciate how fondly you speak of the NES. Such a great system.
Finally, some love for NES Monopoly! When my family was selling our last house, I’d occasionally have to leave so potential buyers could come look at it. I’d go to this little gas station/diner, get a cheeseburger and play Monopoly on my Gameboy to kill time. The diner had this mom-and-pop shop kind of feel, it was really welcoming. I’m sure it sounds weird but I always think of those times when I play Monopoly now.
The NES version of Monopoly is still one of the very best versions out there. It's amazing how well executed the gameplay is. I've played more modern versions of the game that just feel a bit clunky and slow. The NES version had great pacing to it for sure.
CV3 is worth the play through. Its one of the first games that allow you to switch to another character and it has a "choose your own adventure" map style. There's 3 additional characters to the main character and each have their own abilities. CV1 was the first game I ever got to pick out as a kid in the late 80's and I think CV3 is a masterpiece. Huge CV fan.
I was blown away when super castlevania came out. Can't help it being my fav. I loved 2 as well, screw the hating, although I get it.
@@jc.1191 same. I played CV2 all the way. It was unique. Great experience, too bad all the place are cryptic but once you get it going, it was fun collecting parts of Dracula.
@@FoxItAll Yes, music was pretty kickass along the way too. Yeah, the cryptic stuff was annoying! Somebody told me about the damn tornado thankfully.
I love anything Carmen Sandiego, and “Where In Time...” is impressive for being an NES game, but MY GOD it’s insanely difficult as far as how much time you’re given. Even on your first case, you have to almost be perfect with no mistakes, otherwise your time will run out guaranteed.
Best times ever playing River City Ransom with my friend from 4th grade
Thank you so much for shouting out my Dr. Mario video! That's awfully kind of you, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it enough to share with others here. You do have a lovely collection... some really great games that I wish I had, most definitely! Love these videos! Keep 'em coming!
No problem, I really liked the video.
I always thought Kung Fu was based on Bruce Lee from that movie where he had to fight a boss on every floor, one of whom was Kareem Abdul Jabar. It might be a premise seen a few times. That happens a lot, like Journey to the West being one of the better known cases.
I didn't get my NES until the Christmas/NYE holidays of 1988/89. The Atari 2600 was my ONLY video game console from 1982/83 until my older brother, home for the holidays, left me his NES and games when he left returned to wherever he was stationed at the time in the Navy. It literally changed my life as a gamer. Sure, I had played the NES plenty of times over at friends houses, but I FINALLY had my very own. If I remember correctly his collection of NES games was SMB/Duck Hunt, the Legend of Zelda, Golf, Karate Champ, Kung Fu...Hmm...That might be it. I had RC Pro-Am and the Battle of Olympus pretty early on, but I believe those were purchases I made AFTER I got the console.
So many of those games you showed featured promanently in my up bringing. Cool video!
Excellent! Been subbed to you for years but just started getting into retro games in the last couple weeks. My first system was a 2600 but NES will always be that one that meant the most I think.
Castlevania made me want an NES. Castlevania 2 was the first one of them that I owned. I remember feeling so triumphant that I figured out the kneeling crystals thing on my own. I wasn’t even trying to. I was so mad that I couldn’t figure it out, I kneeled and went left and right repeatedly as if Simon was bashing his head against the rocks. Then the tornado came and it blew me away. I thought for years that you had to do the back and forth thing. I loved that game although I agree that generally, I prefer a linear progression in platformers. It was at least something new at the time when it felt like every game was a scrolling platform. We called them “boards” back then.
Anyway, great collection
Thanks!
Mike Branch ☺️got about 25 nes games
Impressive collection, love the nes console 👍👍👍
Thanks! 👍
Just started to get back into this over quarantine. Trying to reacquire my old faves.
Nice channel!
Thanks!
Cannot be Tamed 🎬
Castlevania 2 is my favorite NES Castlevania game. It helped that I read the Jeff Rovin book before buying it.
Simon's Quest is awesome! People give it a bad rap.
That game gets way too much hate. I beat it last year and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
@@charlied7845 It's one of my favorite NES titles ever. It only gets hate because it was so different from the first game. The same shit happens with Final Fantasy 8.
@@Starscreamious I actually hate ff8 tho. But to each his own. At least you got your money's worth.
@@jc.1191 FF8 is the best one. People I know that hated it used the GF's too much. I almost never used those things in battle.
I got a video game for my first communion too lol. Link's awakening DX, was so psyched!
Nice
There are so many rare games in this video that this is less of nostalgia trip and more of an unfiltered spirit ball of just how much you love playing retro video games! You could have easily spread this and the PlayStation video across several years of content; instead you've laid out your entire collection concisely for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for sharing this wealth of memories. The like was easy to give. I am hoping that people will reference this slice of NES goodness for years to come.
What a nice comment, thank you
Cannot be Tamed You're welcome Pam!
Bayou Billie was so damn hard! I only ever got to maybe the 2nd or 3rd level as a kid
I did manage to finish it, but it took my entire allowance for the 3 weekends I had to rent it on order to get good enough... So yes I was bullied by Bayou Billie
Journey to Silius is one of my favorite games on the system. Made by the talented people of Sunsoft, it shares many merits which were common with other games from the studio; responsive controls, beautiful graphics, good level design and excellent music. And I love the fact it was meant to be a Terminator game. Although Sunsoft lost the license in the end, some familiar looking enemies were left behind. Really looking forward to see your review of the game, Pam!
Journey to Silius is an amazing game and you hit the nail on the head regarding the music! Blaster Master will always be my favorite Sunsoft game (heck it's possibly in my Top 10 all-time list) but Journey to Silius and Super Spy Hunter are two juicy hidden gems that are also incredibly fun to play every single time. The final boss in Journey to Silius is pretty much a Terminator if I recall..?
Loving the longer videos, keep up the great work!
Tetris on NES was definitely my parents' introduction to gaming. Sadly, it never grew much beyond Tetris for them, but their anniversary gift was first reclaimed by my sister, and then me. Loved growing up with the system, and hearing you talk about a few of them I had in my collection like Monopoly, or Silent Service, which I was too young to figure out/ bother reading the manual. Great video! Thanks for the awesome nostalgia trip!
Greatly enjoyed the video. Castlevania and Contra are my personal all time faves on the console.
Great collection! So many memories, thx for sharing this.
Loving the tone, the pacing and the content! Looking lovely as usual.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks :)
Interesting collection of hits and nostalgic picks.
What a rich assortment of NES games you have in that video, especially Gradius, Castlevania and all the Mega Man and Ninja Gaiden games. They’re my favourites growing up. Nice video!
I'd add double dragon, and you've got my favorite action pack.
You should definitely review Crystalis, the story is awesome and the gameplay is quite fun, I remember playing it for hours!
It really was a unique gem. I got lucky buying it based off the box art, lol.
Best game on NES hands down.
really a great collection, thank you for sharing
A friend of mine had Bucky o'Hare when I was a kid. I remember it being hard, but a lot of fun! And shout out for the Goosebumps books at the end! Awesome!
LifeForce is my goto shooter game. I use to walk to a neighbors house my dad knew and borrowed it all the time.
Pam, I LOVE the fact you arent afraid to reject games that a majority of others adore, i.e. Zelda, Punchout, Megaman, not EVERYONE loves those, very cool, and shows gaming is subjective, or at least can be
I got my NES for christmas in 1990 and until I got my first job in 1999 and bought a PS1 the NES was all I had so you'd better believe I played the hell out of it. Aside from the Mario/Duck Hunt pack in, the two games I got with it that christmas were Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle and The Adventures Of Dino Riki. I still have my original unit but I've since replaced the pin connector and disabled the lockout chip so it'll keep going for many years I hope.
Great channel content 🕹and reviews,👌 plus your gorgeous presence enchanting the videos, ♥️, and also you own quite a nice video game collection !
Strongly advise to seriously get into Castlevania 3. It's an incredible game.
It's very difficult.
The Japanese version is much easier and has better arrangements of the music
@@bryangarcia5599 Just to be clear, Castlevania 3 is not Simon's Quest. The tagline/subtitle for Castlevania 3 is Dracula's Curse.
Its the best CV game in the old style of CV before the Metrovania style became common.
Super castlevania was the sweetspot in that series for me. 3 was hard as hell, but awesome. 2 really is a great game IMO. I don't care what the haters say.
I thought "Who doesn't like Ducktales?" was always a rhetorical question... lol
Same! I was certainly enjoying the game already but, if my childhood memories are correct, I believe that the Moon was the final stage that I tried when I first rented the game. I'll never forget how incredible it was to hear that music for the very first time. And all these years later, I still come across others who felt the same way. The NES days sure were magical weren't they? :)
Yeah that game and mega man 2 made me a capcom fan overnight as a kid.
Looking forward to every new video on your channel. Even if I do not own all of the systems you talk about. I find your talks intelligent, informative and with a unique humoristic twist. Almost a miniTED about a subject I love! So keep up the good work, girl!
Thank you!
Love Felix the Cat! I subscribed to the channel following your review.
What a collection!
I've gotten back into NES lately; we had a bunch of games but no NES for a while
cool pro status collection and fun stories to go with 'em!
Solid collection, Pam. Tons of great games in there. And I love how you have memories attached to some of them, like your parents playing Tetris. There’s a lot here that I’m still after; maybe I’ll pick a few up at TMG. See you guys there! (Loved the Lilly cameo)
See you soon! I'm excited.
Wow! Kudos for the excellent platforming @ 22:50 in the background when you talk about mega man 2.
That's not me.
Not a bad collection. I'm currently at 617 NES games with about 90% of the NTSC library and a good amount of unlicensed carts (626 carts total including label variants). I think I'm about 15 or so away from completing the NTSC library as I still need some of the crown jewels, like Gun Nac and Dinosaur Peak. The odds of finding all of those are slim to none. And Mario 3 will always be my favorite NES game.
Gorgeous. Voice and everything. So good to watch you Pam 😮
That picture on the wall with the red hair is super cool. I love art like that
crystalis is great. it's not one i had or had even heard of when i was younger, but it is def one of my favorites on the nes.
I got lucky and bought it based off the box art. 😂 I did that alot.
Castlevania 3 has multiple paths, along the way you'll meet characters that can join you on your journey and it's just a far bigger gamer than the first Castlevania.
Amazing video! Do more of these!
Always love your vids....keep up the great work....👍😊
Thanks!
Great video! Felix the cat was all I played after receiving it for my 8th birthday. I wish i still had it, I just started collecting NES games again and found out that one is a lil pricey.
"The animation in Prince of Persia is kind of impressive".You can say that again! I would have to say it's the smoothest animated NES game. Very impressive.
I never heard of Holy Diver. Now I gotta go find it. Thanks.
Think about dio and castlevania mixed with zelda 2 its pretty much like that in a nutshell
I remember playing Battle Chess on PC, too. Really loved the gore, though this usually isn't my kind of thing. Never knew this was on NES, too.
The Guardian Legend is one of my fav games of all time, and one of the best in the NES library (imo).
One of my favorites on the NES is "Boy And His Blob" by David Crane. He also developed Pitfall II for Atari. You explore and solve puzzles by feeding your pet blob different types of jelly beans. It doesn't have a point and click interface, but is funny like Kings Quest on the PC.
I like games with a good sense of humour.
You have a nice collection. I love that console....I've three of them at the moment.....can't stop buying them if they're going cheap.
My introduction to NES was through my best friend at his house at around '88. My friend had a few games that impressed me compared to my Atari 7800 and Coleco Vision such as Athena, Tag Team Match: Muscle, and Karnov. I ended getting my own Christmas that year and was addicted, renting out games nearly every week. Great video by the way!
Thanks!
Love your Nes videos and love your voice as well 😁 , thanks !
You have a very nice Nintendo collection with quality titles. I really enjoy the Castlevania, Contra, Ninja Gaiden and Double Dragon
games just to name a few. I recently found Bat Man at a garage sale which I was looking out for quite a while now and I think it's made really well. Great video
Add tmnt the arcade, and that's my action favs too.
Nice little collection. I have a small collection of NES games as well. Just the essentials and hidden gems. Although, I've always been more of a Sega Master System fan since that was the first 8-bit system I ever played.
The Famicom version of Bayou Billy "Mad City" is decent. Definitely a bit easier and more playable.
Great video. I remember the NES days. Cool you still have original cartridges.
Pam: 'Hey everyone, it's Pam... '
Me: 'Hi Pam!' *waves hand*
Every time.
Haha /wave
@@Cannotbetamed1 Hello pleace search police academy vidéo game NES Rom
I loved that version of Prince of Persia, but it was my first. ... I also played it on a keyboard, and somehow that binary on and off helped me to understand the way the long uninterruptable animations worked I think.
I still never got far, that damn time limit!
Ah, so you are Canadian! I was wondering that. Greetings fellow countryperson!
Hello!
I got my NES Super Set as a Christmas present in 1990. Maybe the best Christmas ever.
I remember I found my NES hidden in a closet so I knew it was coming before I actually got it.
I remember buying bayou billy because I saw it in an arcade, when I played it I found it too hard so took it back and got Bucky o' hare, glad I did .
Awesome! just got bards tale for PS4 (import) great vid as always.
Lots of games I'll have to check out! I just got an NES with 16 games from Goodwill with all of the accessories and I'm excited to dive into it again. I did pick up one game from my childhood - Little Nemo: The Dream Master, no idea if it's any good but even just hearing the music takes me back.
I’ve heard all good things about Little Nemo.
I still have a vivid memory of how excited and nervous I was when I reached the final level of TMNT for the first time. I don't remember if I ever beat it.
Hey Pam,
Lots of fond memories playing NES. I was the only kid on my block that could beat Mike Tyson and my friends and I would challenge each other to see how fast we could beat Super Mario Bros using warps....😂😋
I played Battle Chess too on NES too. Correct me if I’m wrong, but when when one of your pieces would take an opponent’s piece, it would show a cool battle animation.
Thank you for another great vid! 😊😊
Awesome collection Pam!
Your awesome. Keep it up. Thank you for sharing.
Those boxes behind you! :D Full Throttle, Arcanum, the Dig. wow....some of my favourites :D
My pc boxes are the thing I’m most into collecting now, though there’s a very limited number of boxes I want.
Thanks for the video. I never had an NES growing up (I went from Atari 2600 to computer to Sega Genesis), so it was entertaining and informative to see this. Moon Crystal looked a lot like Mystic Defender on the Genesis. Right down to the jumping on trees and the way that the characters would explode. I remember reading back in the day that Batman had additional processor chips inside to help it do more than the NES could do by itself (a prelude to the FX chip in SNES games). Some of those games look so good they looked like TG16/PC engine games with a smaller color palette.
I think that was Batman: Return of the Joker that used the different chip.
Cannot be Tamed you may be right. It was about 30 years ago so I don't remember exactly.
You definitely must play Ninja Gaiden 2, because is one of the most valuable jewels of the NES and by far the best game on the trilogy,
also the one that has the most adjusted difficulty too..
I gave you a chance.
And I recommend you Little Nemo The Dream Master.. BEAUTIFUL GAME!!
Oh yeah, I've heard nothing but good things about Little Nemo, I should try that.
Awesome collection!
NES is my favorire console all time, good memories, I had crystalis snk rpg, side pocket, super contra, super mario 3, Hi no tori (Japanese adventure game), sky destroyer, f1 race, Super Mario Bros, Blaster Master, but unfortunately I did not keep my collection that was lost .
Oh Lord, I remember Battle Chess for PC as a kid, the graphics were far better and more animated than the version you're showing here. There are probably quite a few
Great video, love the collection!
Thanks!
Whoa!!...man talk about the classics..you definitely got the quality games..I feel so old now😂..great vid.
Thank you!
@@Cannotbetamed1 would you do one or have you done one on Sega 16bit games?
No, I have no history with and very little to say about Genesis games, other than the ones I’ve previously reviewed.
This brings back so many childhood memories. I'm glad I wasn't the only child playing on a Nes well into the 90's! I got one when I was 4 and played the death out of it until I got my first PS1 in 97.
You don't like *ducktales!?* Blasphemy.
I cracked up I couldn't resist doing the duck tales ah woowoo either
THERE NEED TO BE SO MANY MEGA MAN GAMES, THAT'S HOW MANY! Ever play 20XX, the Megaman X - inspired online-real-time-co-op-capable roguelike? :D
Great collection, thanks for sharing! And thanks for the shoutout!
No problem!
I forgot about The Adventures in the Magic Kingdom! I loved it as a kid.
NES was my first, never forget your first ! ofcourse i tried the atari at my uncles but def my first was NES
Seriously Awesome Collection.
Ufouria, Little Samson adventures and Megaman3 were my favourites on this system. But nowadays It's really hard for me to go back to 8bit games, although I still love the 16bits era.
Megaman 3 gave me carpal tunnel for a bit when it came out. Worth it...
I am so with you on Battle Chess. I played it once and my impatience kicked in hardcore, (even though I have enough patience to play actual chess). I traded it in next time I went to the shop. And nice copy of Moon Crystal.. I found that on Famicom not long ago and enjoyed it very much.. the animations are amazing, although the control and attack does feel very stiff, which can get frustrating during boss battles. Nice collection.
The Guardian Legend is my favorite NES game of all time. I still play it and I enjoy it every time I do. I also play the home brew TGL Secret. Find that for a much harder version.
I just finished a harder version of Super Metroid which was fun as hell. Back in my days that homebrew console stuff didn't really exist. It's nice to play old favorites with a new twist nowadays.
I used to have a huge nes collection, wish I still had em all!
Great video. Impressive you could review an entire collection in one video!
Same here getting to it late, I was playing the SNES right up to the release of the XBox.
Pan, I remember discovering your channel when I was looking for information on the internet about the game of Felix the cat in NES years ago
I remember playing Monopoly all night with my cousins. I loved that game, and I always had to be the race car. I also remember Silent Service, and can say I never had any idea what I was doing in it, either. I loved the Mega Man games. Mega Man 4 was the first game I bought for myself brand new. I saved up my allowance for three months and walked into the game store when it came out, slapped a fistful of five dollar bills on the counter and proudly said, "I want Mega Man 4!" to the clerk.
I love the little animations of the monopoly tokens.
Great collection and review, as your individual game reviews are excellent! (In reference to your Sega CD reviews, I totally had the same 1st impressions as yourself, and final.) The NES is a great nostalgic system as I just barely got back into collecting NES & NES games. I had to resort to 2 multicarts to save wear n' tear on games + system.* Lastly 1990 must have re been the year of the NES, as mine was for Christmas. Keep up the great work! Any Sega Saturn reviews?
I really enjoyed Bards Tale on PS2...It is one of the PS2 many greats. You are the first That I've heard that actually played it besides me. Cheers.
I loved its sense of humour.
Pam I remember going to some local flea markets in the late 90s and buying up a ton of NES games for pennies on the dollar. I remember getting Jackal for literally $1
That was a dollar well spent! I think I might have you beat though. My good friend GAVE me his copy! :p In all seriousness though, Jackal is a wonderful game. I miss the days of being able to buy games for prices like that.
I found you because of avgn. Your content are very good. Subscribed! 👍🏻👍🏻
Hello, thanks!
Cannot be Tamed 🙂
Hey, you released this on my birthday. I got my NES on my 7th birthday! Weird!
Great collection
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is the best NES game of all time.
Don't let James Rolfe hear you say that or he'll sic Fred Fuchs on you.

@@canman87 Nah. I took care of him in avgn deluxe. Lol
It’s funny to think that you can own every nes, snes, genesis, etc full collections on a little sd card. It was unthinkable as a kid, great collection i sold off all my nes games to funco land for a dollar a piece :(
