    Ventura upgrade to 13.6.6 installed smoothly this morning on my very old MacBook Pro Mid-2009 5,5 (SSD upgraded) ! Before starting, I just have to replace my « no name » 2x4Gb with my old 2x2Gb Samsung branded RAM to avoid an error message at the end of the download process « An error occurred preparing the software update ». Then I plug a USB hub connected to my wireless mouse and keyboard to bypass the non supported USB 1.1 protocol. After the complete install, I can reboot with my 2x4Gb RAM and run OPLC to make it work like a charm. Thank you so much Mr Macintosh and all the contributors and developers !

    My 2007 20-inch iMac installed the 1.4.2 OCLP on its own - from 1.3.0. Then the macOS 14.4.1 installed via system settings. The process was slow. I had to reboot on the last round of updating and the computer finished the install then turned on. The OCLP started on its own to install the post-install patches. Smooth process and the system is functional. I am typing this on Safari/RUclips. Excellent work! All other machines are superb.

      @@Mr.Macintosh you say no problem waiting to upgrade. But do you think we will reach a point where you will advice us to upgrade to Sonoma from Ventura if we etc. runs 2013-2017 imacs, or 2014-2015 13" rmbp? ... I mean do you think we are close to the point where Sonoma will run as fast and as well on these machines as Ventura is? or is it better to wait till Ventura no longer runs the newest software or is no longer updated. Would be really cool for your evaulation on this.. do not have to be an exact science... most of us who still love and run these machines, would hate to upgrade for the experience to be worse or slower.

    Updated my first 2013-2019 MacPro this morning. After update (prior to root patching), the mouse and graphics were jumpy and I had to force a reboot in order to log in. Mouse was still sketchy. Had to manually start the OCLP to post install root patches. All good after that! Took about an hour. We'll see how it goes on the second trash can. No issues on my supported 2019 MacMini.

    Congrats to your anniversary, you do a great job!
    I updated two macs on both I have issues to update to 14.4.1 with OCLP 1.4.3.
    Did you try to update a macmini6.2 or a macbookair6.2?
    The mini I messed up, as I forgot to remove the autoupdate setting. Then I did not had enough diskspace install 14.4.1. So I whipped it, as I have a timemachine backup.
    It is running, but I was not able to recover the backup. (No data and also no settings really there, but surprisingly timemachine is backing up again...) Did you experience that already?
    On the air I tried to install it over the existing. Enabled the verbose boot.
    There it loops after "Setting BTCoex Profile". Is this something known?

    I installed 14.4.1. with OCLP 1.4.3 on a MacBook Pro 8.2 late 2011 and it works well. Maps doesn't work as expected but also the camera pops up one tome very shortly and doesn't work for all other apps too. Is there a short workaround available or an opportunity that the next version of OCLP will fix it?

      @@ernestgalvan9037 Four here. 2x i5 2.5 dual core and 2x i7 2.3 quad core, from 4 GB RAM (i5), over 8 GB RAM in another i5 to 16 GB RAM in both my i7 Mac Mini Late 2012. All on OCLP 1.4.2 and running Sonoma macOS 14.4 by now.
      Waiting for the OCLP update to fix the non metal issue for 3x iMac (i5 quad core 21.5" Mid 2011 on 20 GB RAM and 2x i7 quad core Late 2009 27", one on 16 GB RAM, one on 32 GB RAM).
      The i7 quad core Mac Minis are fast, the i7 quad core iMacs from 2009 are still perfect as "secondary leasure machines" (minor issues like no Apple Maps support and some color flickering when reducing from full screen a.s.o.)
      Generally, I'd stick with Mr. Macintosh's advice to use Ventura on the unsupported Macs if they are used as daily driver. Ventura seems to peak the unsopported machines' performance and the benefits of Sonoma over Venture seem to be neglected, IMHO.
      Best combination so far: i7 quad core Late 2012 Mac Mini - so much connectivity (SD-card slot, 4x 3.0 USB, Firewire, early Thunderbolt, RJ-45 ethernet, already good to work with AirDrop and easy to work on when upgrading the Hardware to SSD and more RAM. Pitty they got only 2 RAM banks. Hence reasonable way to max out those machines is 16 GB RAM only, although iMacs with 4 RAM banks can handle up to 32 GB or RAM meanwhile.
      Keep them old goodies running! :)

    • @AlejandroGutierrez-wb8ui
      @AlejandroGutierrez-wb8ui 3 месяца назад

      Do you recommend it? I have the i7 version, with SSD installed and 16 GB of RAM. I have Ventura but it takes almost all the RAM, and when I use Photoshop or Lightroom and sometimes it works slowly like it has 2GB of RAM for moments.

    • @georgwor8955
      @georgwor8955 3 месяца назад +1

      @@AlejandroGutierrez-wb8ui Well, it uses all the RAM it has got, which makes sense. But it sure won’t be a computer to compete with a modern machine. Though it’s still a 12 year old machine. But to answer your question: yes, I would definitely recommend an i7 Late 2012 Mac Mini to run on OCLP and Ventura or even Sonoma. 👌🏼

    Updated a MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch early 2015.
    After updating everything looked OK. I did not have to use external keyboard to login.
    Open Core Patcher came up by itself with quest to repatch.
    Updating on this machine is always tricky. It also has Linux Mint and Windows, so the procedure sometimes chooses the wrong BootEntry and I have to manually choose the correct one.
    Complicating is that I have no screen backlight in Boot- or SafeMode. (Never found the reason for this, so I use big light behind the lid to shine through and most of the time I can follow what is happening.
    This time I had to do restart because of this.
    NB: The update procedure broke off the first time. Because of badly "restore point" I had to reboot first, and then it was OK.
    So far so good, and thank you very much for your good work. Regards, Eef

    Hey there, thank you so much for making these videos. I have a nonmetal Mac from 2011 where the Sonoma install has gone without a hitch although I am running 14.2. I would like to use GarageBand, or mainstage, but the latest versions won't work on my system and I didn't find that out until I installed everything. Tried downloading older versions of both those apps, and they won't open either. Mainstage will, but it also won't download its sound library correctly. If I revert this machine back to hi Sierra, everything works as it should, is there anything you recommend I could do for this? It would be nice if there was a metal graphics emulator of some sort as I am completely blind and therefore don't care about the graphics but want the apps to work. I am noticing that voice support, is better in Sonoma than high Sierra, which is why I would be sad to switch back even though I may have to, thoughts?

    Basic question here, and I have listened to hours of videos on OLCP etc., so maybe I'm just oblivious to the info I seek here.
    Should I install (following proper instructions like creating usb installer, etc) the latest OLCP version no matter what my hardware configuration and MacOS version I choose?
    I have a mid 2010 Power Mac running Mojave, and plan on initially installing Monterey onto a new NMVE while keeping the existing NMVE/PCI in the machine. I'm running a single 6 core 3.46 Xeon, 46 gb ram, Radeon RX 580. USB, wifi, ethernet, and bluetooth all original.
    My plans are to initially get Monterey successfully installed, and if it is solid, not worrying about any further upgrades indefinitely.
    Appreciate any advice.

    This is awesome,
    So cool what you can do.
    However, i cant get this to work on my setup.
    I just got a new Mac Book Air M3 and i have a iMac late 2015 21,5
    The Macbook air is running on Sonoma " that i dont really like i have to say, a lot of bugs so far and i only had the computer for a couple of days.
    The iMac 2015 is just updated to Monaray.
    It does work to mirror my screen from the imac 2015 to the m3 air but not the other way around witch is the way i would like it to work to use the power of the M3 on a bigger screen.
    Ive been thinking about downgrading the M3 air to monaray and see if that might work.
    Also when i open Opencore on the m3 with Sonoma, the opencore built and install button is not activated and i cant click on it, the post install Root patch works to click on but it says no patches required.
    My iMac 2015 can see my screen mirroring and comes up as an option but it does not on my M3 Air with sonoma.
    Any ideas or is this not suppose to work ?

The installation of Monterey, and any other native supported sysems is working. Have you an idea, what can be the solution? When an iMac with macOS 14.4.1 and OCLP 1.4.2 and has multiple user accounts (admin privilege), when a user has Zoom turn on (and with a bigger pointer), and use Fast User Switching to log in another user, the pointer is pointing to nowhere near where you want. Hello @gera2jerry2 !! I actually talked more about the wifi card in my original edit but cut it out as I thought it was out of scope. To answer your question, it is hard to find the right card as the first one I bought did NOT work just like yours. I should put that info together. What was the name of the card that you bought? Was it through Amazon or ebay?

      Broadcom BCM94360CD bought it in Amazon from OSXwifi Originally to upgrade Mojave and it did Natively no patches. Works in all OS even Ventura but not Sonoma. Mac recognized the card cuz BT works but wifi is off even in system information there's no wifi interface

    Have you heard anything about the Issue with the Apple Silicon Macs having a Security Issue and potential for security breaches? Just saw some videos on You Tube about it and was wondering if I need to attempt the start using OCLP and install an updated OS on my older 2013 Intel MacBook Pro. They mention that this has been an issue since December 2023 and Apple has not addressed it. Any thoughts you can provide would be great.

    • @rileybaker8294
      @rileybaker8294 3 месяца назад

      Your Intel MacBook Pro has an Intel processor, not an Apple Silicon processor. Therefore you are not affected by the hardware flaw in Apple Silicon. You might still consider using OCLP to update to a more recent version of MacOS because you may be affected by security flaws in software.

    • @CanesFan65
      @CanesFan65 3 месяца назад

      @@rileybaker8294 YES I understand it is an Intel Mac. Problem is software updates won't go past Big Sur without doing OCLP but thats more than I wanted to do. But with the recent revelation regarding the possible;e security issue with the Silicon Chip based Macs...it may now become more necessary unless this issue is resolved asap.

      I found the solution. You have to create the installer for Sonoma 14.4 with OCLP 1.4.2. You erase your hard drive from the installer, and create a clean installation of Sonoma. You can use the touchbar, touch id and icloud. all completely functional. Then when you have entered the installed operating system, you can update the OCLP to 1.4.3 to update Sonoma to 14.5. greetings!
