I called Greaseman to ask him to call the USNaval academy quarterback at the time, who had broken his ankle, and regularly listened to “Greaeman”, to cheer him up. My husband was a Navy coach. He DID it!! Called him in the hospital, and made him laugh, God love him!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
THE GREASEMAN was and always will be #1 in radio. Stern has nothing on this guy. We would stop working to listen to his bits...Never got fired because the boss was with us. THANKS GREASE for the good times.
Stern? That 5 letter name doesn't even deserve to be mentioned next to the Greaseman, who is the best ever, no contest. I will never forget my high-school years in 84-85 in Rockville Maryland, where the Art class teacher would (knowingly or unknowingly) let us listen to the Greaseman while doing our sketches or sculptures 🙂.
My dad used to listen in the 80's here in SOMD and now I listen to old bits on the Internet. I heard his boat was docked in Solomons a few times at the Tiki Bar. I love all the Good Ship Grease bits.
Walter Joy went to Great Mills High School and we would sit in the parking lot and listen until the bell rang every morning. May have burn a few while waiting... 😂
I listened to the Grease from 1981 until his departure in 1994. Then he popped up on the AM stations for a while in the DC area until he went back to Jacksonville Fla.I hear he has left there now..
The Greasman was and is a legend. He is better in a different way then Howard Stern. Stern makes you laugh, but in a different way. Grease is more imaginative and creative with his comedy. Is it true that he is back on the radio?
All these comments about DC 101, you maggots don't know the Grease, I listened to him on the great 690 AM WAPE Big Ape in Jacksonville (actually all of north Fl south GA) with the biggest signal in the SE. He really let it fly in Jacksonville back in the 70's. His show made me enjoy driving to High School.
The Greaseman on DC101 in the 80's. I'd have my tape deck set up to record two cassettes in the mornings after I went to school. I'd get home, rewind everything then *TRY* to do homework while listening to the days Greaseman.
How about sitting in traffic with Grease cranked up in the car, trying to drink yer coffee without spraying the windshield...... he was so outta control funny ya'd be sputtering at the worst times if ya thought of his morning drive foolishness :) Kinda cool landing on this page and seeing people from southern Maryland, northern Virginia, etc. that appreciated him, reminisce. Maybe someday someone will slip a question to Robin Quivers about whether Greaseman's termination over what it wasn't about seemed fair...... would she have considered stepping up to defend him: "y'all missed by miles on this one, folks.... THIS man first of all is not a bigot, second of all is miles above thinking what he doesn't feel, and finally, stick your career-destroying tar and feathers up yer opportunistic asses, he's magnitudes smarter than dumb enough to say something to hurt anyone over the air they didn't ASK for, and ESPECIALLY against a militant force. And don't forget, he's spoken of by all who know him as a really good person without a malicious bone in him. Meanwhile (am I subtle enough with this?), I hear hardcore racist stabs from an of-color 50,000 watt station DJ with a seriously bitter attitude, within walking distance from DC-101 on Thanksgiving Day....... it wasn't Howard University. I know too well the nase layer of what Greaseman sustained in that...... major difference was he was paid what he's worth......losing that hurt him. MY giving an FM station staff member a promotion forced me to resign. on better note, how Greaseman ended up on the air the first time ever, an intern, stepped up to cover for the ailing scheduled announcer...... he went far. Dying to find out from his bits what might have been James Brown saying "that is bad, bad, BAD!!!!!! (more followed). I was able to track down "ya mama.... that's right, i said yo mama......" GREAT song :) The presumed-James Brown bit reminded me of the beginning of "Make It Funky": "Whatchew gawn play NOW?" "Bobby...... I don't know...... but whatsun EVER I play, it's got-to-be-FUNKY!!!!! "yeh..... "1...2...3....Make It Funky.......Make It Funky........" Is the consummate James Brown nuclear funk, especially the studio mix is like no other...... yeah, Grease was such a bigo........ never mind. He made many moments better :)
Driving down the road, a sailboater sees and IP: OH, let's stop and see if the poor fellow needs a ride, it's so hot outside. Powerboater driving by sees the same IP: 10 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Na na na .....
Nope. I worked a block up the road from DCCCCC 101 and met thm all. I listened to them all on the radio when they started. Adam Smasher came before Grease and Stern followed. Grease was good for belly laughs and where Stern required you to be a little more cerebral.
YES-Greaseman is still on the air-thank goodness- google: rock105i and listen live! - 1st time i heard him, i was in like in middle school in Los Angeles like in 1990 i think! its sooo good to listen to him- has not changed!
You are clueless. He put Dexter Manley of the Redskins on the air to talk football every morning during training camp even as SI and others were writing about how Manley was illiterate. In any event - isn't the First Amendment great? Lets him say what he wants, rappers and punk rockers say what they want, and you get to have your opinion. Thank a vet on Memorial Day and remember those who gave all.
the greaseman show is BETTER than eny 50 inch hd tv, BETTER than going to the movies, BETTER than watching tv...and is complimentary to the howard stern show because they're both of the lost art of radio entertainment of the 1980s and 90s
It is. It's also from a very different time when people could be stupid and if you didn't like it you could just not pay attention and everybody was pretty happy doing their own thing and we all got along okay. It wasn't paradise, but it was so much more free than it is now.
Why is he going through all that nonsense trying to turn women off on a first date? Just put a tape of your horrible show on and most of them will fall asleep or beg you to stop and let them out.
I called Greaseman to ask him to call the USNaval academy quarterback at the time, who had broken his ankle, and regularly listened to “Greaeman”, to cheer him up. My husband was a Navy coach. He DID it!! Called him in the hospital, and made him laugh, God love him!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's really great!

No comparison between Greaseman and Stern long live the great Greaseman
Dead stop traffic on the Beltway would be laughing out-loud at The Grease - he was just flat funny.
I will never forget this guy. He made me laugh my ass off nonstop when listening to him.
He made my ride to work something I enjoyed. Never has happened before or since.
Long live THE GREASE MAN!!!
He taught an entire generation of people a whole new language.
My dad used to listen in the 80's here in SOMD and now I listen to old bits on the Internet. I heard his boat was docked in Solomons a few times at the Tiki Bar. I love all the Good Ship Grease bits.
Walter Joy I live in Lexington park and grew up here in the 80s listening to DC101 and Grease.
Aqua land marina,is were it was
I grew up in Oxon Hill in the 1980's and he was listened to everyday.
Walter Joy went to Great Mills High School and we would sit in the parking lot and listen until the bell rang every morning. May have burn a few while waiting... 😂
Yes, I remember those great days in the 80s, I'd listen to him every day on the way to UMd in College Park.
I listened to the Grease from 1981 until his departure in 1994. Then he popped up on the AM stations for a while in the DC area until he went back to Jacksonville Fla.I hear he has left there now..
DC101 took such a great step upward when they replaced Stern with The Greaseman. I hated the way Stern treated his listeners. Greaseman respected his.
Thomas Harding unless you called from West Virginia! 😂
I remember this... One of my favorite bits!!!
The Greasman was and is a legend. He is better in a different way then Howard Stern. Stern makes you laugh, but in a different way. Grease is more imaginative and creative with his comedy. Is it true that he is back on the radio?
Blidda bladda, blidda bladda...🛥
Listened to him in the 80s on dc101 when i was in high school, dude was funny.

The #1 dj in Atlanta 1993
Grease taught me how to hobble 😀
Greaseman was THE BOMB!!
The Greaseman on DC101 in the 80's. I'd have my tape deck set up to record two cassettes in the mornings after I went to school. I'd get home, rewind everything then *TRY* to do homework while listening to the days Greaseman.
Grease is looking like a bald face boy here early in his career.
i still like greaseman
Met him in Atlanta - nice guy
He's a legend! Highly original if a little bit of an acquired taste i grant you. He's on radio in Jacksonville on Rock 105 afternoons.
Sailboaters: Greaseman; Powerboaters: Anyone Funny

Radio gold.
Driving down the road, a sailboater sees and IP: OH, let's stop and see if the poor fellow needs a ride, it's so hot outside. Powerboater driving by sees the same IP: 10 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Na na na .....
Awesome
Did he just say the power motors favorite war hero is the guy responsible for the my lai massacre?
He doesn't look anything at all like I imagined he did when I was a teenager listening to him in the DC area.
This is so true!
Greaseman made DC101. Once he was gone that station was garbage.
Nope. I worked a block up the road from DCCCCC 101 and met thm all. I listened to them all on the radio when they started. Adam Smasher came before Grease and Stern followed. Grease was good for belly laughs and where Stern required you to be a little more cerebral.

Bone dry linger longer...
I love smoking women!
Do you dry them and grind them up first?
I still cannot believe there was a time that this qualified as solid entertainment.
You NEVER will...because youre probably a milennial
How do you feel about Tick-tock?
It was a wonderful time.
Really??? You have no clue....
Must be an acquired taste lol. What the fuck is this
It is. It's also from a very different time when people could be stupid and if you didn't like it you could just not pay attention and everybody was pretty happy doing their own thing and we all got along okay. It wasn't paradise, but it was so much more free than it is now.
Utterly obnoxious nonsense.
Not for everybody, that's for sure. Like caviar, an acquired taste. Or tuna.
Better than Stern? Don't lie to yourself.
Stern sucks.
That voice of his is so annoying.
Ṯḧḕ ḠṙḕḀṠḕṁḀṆ ḭṠ...ḂḭḠ ḊḭḉḲ ḂṙḀṆṆḭḠḀṆ!!
