  • La Segunda Central Bakery in Florida has a longstanding promise to the people of Tampa: to continue baking the most authentic Cuban bread with the delicious taste, texture, and consistency that Cuban bread connoisseurs demand. We still use the authentic recipe we’ve used for nearly 100 years, and our dedicated customers who are serious about Cuban sandwiches wouldn’t have it any other way.
The original bakery La Primera, or "the first," opened in 1915. La Segunda, "the second" was built after the original building burned down in 1957. The bakery has always remained a family operation, now run by the Fourth generation of the Moré family.

I am from Tampa and lived there or Fort Myers for 48 years. I live in the Midwest now and really miss all of the Cuban food I grew up with. A few local restaurants serve sandwiches they call Cuban sandwiches, but they never get them right, beginning with with the bread. Deviled crabs and guava turnovers are also high on my list of foods I miss. If I ever return to Tampa, I’ll be certain to stop at the bakery. I saw deviled crabs on the menu board at the beginning of the video and I can’t imagine a bakery in Ybor City that doesn’t make guava turnovers.

When my great-grandmother was young there was a store that make Cuban bread but you had to get in line cuz it was fresh everyday and if you didn't get there soon enough you never got a low in key West Florida. And that's where I fell in love with my great-grandmother used to make some Cuban dishes with Cuban crackers and Cuban bread I miss all that and black beans

I recently watched a RUclips video of a Venezuelan guy claiming Cuban bread was invented in Florida by get this, a Sicilian baker... yet my grandfather worked at a bakery as a young kid in Cuba around 1890, making this very bread. The internet is packed with idiots spreading lies.

Is it possible to have the bread shipped to other states in the US? I am in Washington DC. We don't have that kind of bread.

unfortunately its similar to french bread that itll get rock solid within a day. itll never taste right if shipped

@@w0wsuchdoge not entirely accurate, original Cuban bread is made with lard, the amount of lard dictates how long the bread remains soft, so yes and no, it just depends on who’s making the bread, sadly nowadays lard has been demonized enough that most people refrain from using it even when making Cuban bread.

why do all the old cubans like to gather in front of the versailles every time they try to end the embargo? do they not have another landmark like this place they can stand in front of or what.

Why do Russians celebrate victory day parade at the red square instead of the Kamchatka península or closer to home why does the Rockefeller Christmas tree is not erected in queens or across the river in Hoboken? Cubans have historically gathered there. Call it tradition.

You do know that bread goes into an oven at 400 degrees right? Good bread has always being made by hand, its not like you can mold bread with gloves on, have you ever seen how wine was made traditionally by bare feet crushing the grape?
