i just got mine and my battery life was like 6.5 hrs from fully charged , did you end up returning yours? something had to have been wrong
Do you think this i5 would be good for virtualization?
Great performance, bad upgradability and a horrible display. I have had mine for about a month. Mine doesn't have a touch screen or backlit keyboard, but it otherwise has the same specs as the one in the video. I paid significantly less than the RRP, from a major UK store. Whether it was a promotion or error I didn't know at the time, but now I have my suspicions why. For the specs it was more than worth what I paid for it. A 12th gen i5 laptop for £400 is such a good price. But, at full price (£579.99), the display and bad upgradability is a deal breaker. The inside of the laptop has been redesigned for this new generation, and as a result, certain upgrades are not as plain sailing. The first thing you want to do if you want to use Windows is take it out of S mode. But I recommend getting a second SATA SSD and dual booting with Linux. The laptop stays incredibly cool, and mostly silent. The fan does make some noise on full CPU load but it's still relatively quiet.
I opened it up to upgrade the RAM and SSD,. The RAM was easy although there is only one socket, 4GB are soldered to the board. This means you can have 20GB maximum RAM. I had to order a cable to attach a 2.5 inch SATA drive. Why this is not included is beyond me, penny pinching I expect. I ordered one from Amazon which was advertised for an IdeaPad 3i. Using a RUclips video as a guide, this is when I discovered the layout inside had changed. The location of the socket to plug the SATA cable has moved. This means the cable I bought had to be re-shaped to fit. I have it dual boot between Linux and Windows from both drives though, it all works fine.
Did it have the TN panel display? I had that one as well, and, yep, horrible display, with a bad yellow/green tint. IPS panel should be better though?
So this video is useless. They have the same mod name with tons of different specs
Would you say this laptop is worth it for just normal use like RUclips, watching sport streams, music on Spotify, Twitch, Twitter, etc?
@user-bb9ik6qg5z Yes, this would be a good choice for that type of use. If you plan on gaming or editing videos you'll want to look at something more powerful, but for everyday things it's a great option.

@tarahfelix8813 Depending on what types of classes you'll be taking, this should be good for most. If you're planning on editing videos, we'd suggest something with a better graphics card and more RAM, but for word processing and internet use, this is going to be a great option.

@adamjoseph6225 This model would be okay for editing 1080p video without adding effects. If you're looking to edit 4k footage or add effects, you should really consider something with 32GB RAM, a faster processor, and a discreet graphics card.

Hello! I'm going into Computer Science in university and I wonder if this laptop would be good for programming and coding? I found the same model but with upgraded specs; 16gb ram and 1tb space. I'm also interested in light gaming of course, like minecraft java. Help would be appreciated!

Is the keyboard backlit?
@deviantmoore9744 Yes, this model has a backlit keyboard. You have to hold the Function button and press the Spacebar to turn the backlight on.

How do I turn on the touchscreen?
@jessicacheska1155 Here are the steps to verify the touchscreen is enabled:
1. Open Device Manager.
2. Navigate to the Human Interface Devices option, then expand to find HID-compliant touch screen or HID-compliant device. If the options cannot be found, click View, then Show hidden devices.
3. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen or HID-compliant device. Then click Enable.
If Enable is already selected then you may need to update your software and restart your computer.

I need a laptop for home working, is this compatible for double monitor (as well as laptop screen) would I need to use Lenovo monitors? I am looking at Dell? Any help would be great thank you!
@rebeccaelkington-clarke5002 Technically, yes, you can hook up two monitors to this laptop, but the performance would suffer a lot. You're better off looking at a model that has more RAM and a better graphics card, like this one: bit.ly/3I5GvCY That way you can hook up two monitors and it won't slow it down.

I have this and L15 portable monitor that uses usb-c any recommendations on an adapter 😭 pls help I’ve tried using an hdmi to usb and doesn’t work and a usb-c female to usb male and it doesn’t work either…

@alexoshike3367 According to the specs Lenovo provides it can last up to 10 hours. But that is with minimal power being used. In real world conditions you can expect to get around 5-7 hours of use.

@jheboii12051986 The 12th gen is a more powerful processor than the 11th gen, however the battery life on 11th gen units seems to be longer.
